ENTRY REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: Voice, fax, and email entries will not be accepted Each competitor must submit a properly signed entry form - group entries will not be accepted Entries will only be accepted via surface mail at: 2004 Westerns Please note that to avoid the $20.00 per person per event surcharge, correct fee must be received at 510 Cynthia St, no later than 10:00 p.m., WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21. Fencers may enter more than one event on each day, however they will be required to withdraw from an event if their entry will impede the progress of the competition. Fencers must remain in the event in progress. Athletes eligible for junior events are those who were under twenty years of age as of January 1, 2004. i.e. Born in 1984 or since. Acceptance of entry is contingent upon signature of entry form by athlete; or parent or guardian in the case of an athlete who is under eighteen years of age. Signature signifies that the person has read, understood, and agrees to the conditions stipulated in the enclosed release form and in Article 16 of the FIE Regulations of Competition. UNSIGNED ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. EQUIPMENT CONTROL: Mask check by armourer prior to start of each event. Weapons and other equipment to be checked by referees on piste. FORMAT: 1st round of pools of 6 and/or 7; all fencers promoted to a direct elimination tableau (no repechage) RULES: The latest FIE rules will apply except regarding Kevlar clothing and maraging blades. All competitors are required to wear proper fencing clothing. No sweatpants or windpants will be allowed.
