The Grand Tribal Council of Missouri has chosen you to be a castaway for the THE TRIALS OF JOB EDITION - Mini Session March 17-18, 2018 Camp Mihaska Retreat & Conference Center 1466 Hwy. N Bourbon, MO 65441 All Job s Daughters, Jobie- to- Bees and Adults are invited and encouraged to compete in the SURVIVOR - THE TRIALS OF JOB EDITION Tribal Challenges All registered participants will be sorted into teams and will compete in challenges that take a little bit of skill, some patience, and a lot of faith to win the rewards. No one will be marooned or eliminated from the Island! This hopes to be a belly laughing, fun filled series of team building activities. Who knows...maybe your tribe will take home TWICE AS MUCH OF THE GOODS AS YOU HAD BEFORE!!! So, here s everything you need to know to survive the island Thanks to the generosity of the Grand Lodge of Missouri Funds, each Daughter will receive a discount of $25.00 for Mini Session 2018! So, the cost is as follows: Daughters and Jobie-to-Bees Adults $50.00 per person $85.00 per person This price includes Saturday night lodging, Saturday dinner, Sunday breakfast and a Mini Session Survivor t-shirt. Lunch on Saturday will NOT be provided and there is no on-site food service. Please pack a sack lunch or eat before you come. Unfortunately, no Friday night lodging will be offered. Please note that the island is a Salvation Army Camp and castaways will be staying in dormitory style lodging complete with heat, electricity and indoor plumbing! All the niceties of home but in a beautiful area! Per Camp Mihaska rules, No animals are permitted. Any animals on premises will result in a $150 fine each, and a $300 cleaning charge. Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings. Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking area which is located at the small rock pavilion at the entrance to the hatchery.

Attached to this packet you will find all of the forms needed to help you survive the Trials of Job Mini Session which include: Bethel Registration Form Mini Session Extras Form Ruth Mary Leavitt Scholarship Fund Basket Raffle Flyer Survival Gear List Tiki Treats Cupcake Flyer ALL FORMS and a Bethel check made payable to the Grand Bethel of Missouri must be postmarked by February 16th, 2018 and sent to: Grand Bethel of Missouri Katie Underwood, PHQ 1929 Withnell St. Louis, MO 63118 KateUndrwd@aol.com Attire for the weekend is Jobie appropriate casual. March weather in Missouri is unpredictable so please dress accordingly and refer to the attached Survival Gear List. Most Team Challenges will be outdoors, weather permitting. In order to help you with your trials of the day, Base Camp will be open for Bethels to sell their ways and means, fundraising goods, or charity items. Please indicate on the Mini Session Extras Form if you would like to reserve a spot at Base Camp.

The Tribal Council and their scouts will be in charge of Security. Everyone must be in their respective building by midnight. Bethel Guardians, or someone appointed by her, are responsible to make sure each Jobie-to-Bee/Daughter is safely in her building. As always, this is an alcohol-free weekend. Per Camp Mihaska rules, smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings. Smoking is only permitted in the designated smoking area which is located at the small rock pavilion at the entrance to the hatchery. No animals are permitted at Camp Mihaska. No items should be attached to the walls of any building using tacks, glue, tape, staples etc. Only free-standing decorations are approved. No helium balloons are allowed in Dining Hall; if brought in $250 will be charged to group. Stranded on a Deserted Island Game If you have ever played the junk game, then you are ready to survive the island! Rules: Using a type of rucksack, each Bethel should bring items that you think are going to be chosen to be on the Survival List. There is no limit of items that you can bring but remember you have to be able to carry it. This is a Bethel vs. Bethel Challenge so it doesn t matter how many participants, just your creative thinking on the items. The first team to provide the item to the Tribal Council gets a point; the team with the most points wins! Ships & Sailors A rousing rendition of everyone s favorite MOJDI is coming to the island. Be prepared to be the last man standing! Survival Skit Each Bethel is encouraged to present between a 5-10-minute skit detailing what they would bring and/or how their Bethel would survive being stranded together on a deserted island. Your skit could be comedic, serious or even based upon the TV series, whatever you would like.

We are asking for each Bethel to compete in the following Team Challenges: Car Decorating Contest Show us how you best promote Job s Daughters when going on those long Jobie road trips. Sky s the limit! Totem Pole Centerpieces Create a tribal themed totem pole centerpiece to be used to decorate our tables at dinner on Saturday night. Each centerpiece should identify all of the members of your Bethel and be no more than 3ft tall and 1.5ft wide. Ideas to start with are stacking coffee, soup, or soda cans and building from there. Tiki Treats Cupcake Challenge - Bake and decorate two dozen (24) cupcakes and bring them to the island for our hungry castaways. Cupcakes will be judged on taste, appearance/decoration, quality, and creativity and can be anything that you would want to find and eat if you were on a deserted island. The cupcakes will be displayed and then sold for $1 each for the Grand Bethel charity this year, To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA), as dessert to accompany Saturday s dinner. All Bethel Team Challenges should be turned into the Tribal Council when you arrive on the island There will be an opportunity during the weekend for interested Missouri Daughters to try out for the Missouri Supreme Ritual Team that will compete at Supreme Session 2018 in Layton, Utah! We are asking for each Jobie-to-Bee and Daughter to compete in the following Individual Challenges: Creative Writing Please write your interpretation, in 300 words or less, on the following age appropriate prompts. Entries must be submitted to Erin Howard via snail mail or emailed to erin.n.howard@gmail.com. All entries must be received by February 16th, 2018 to be considered. Jobie to Bee: If you could bring one (1) of your Jobie sisters with you to be stranded on a deserted island with, who would it be and why? Ages 10-15: What one (1) piece of Jobie paraphernalia would you bring with you if you were stranded on a deserted island and why? Ages 16-20: How do you think the lessons of patience, faith and reward would help you survive on a deserted island? Ages 21-25: Describe the tribe that you have made during your time in Job s Daughters and why you, as a group, could survive together on a deserted island. Survival Gear - Bring something you couldn t live without if you were stranded on an island. Items will be collected by the Tribal Council at check in and on display for voting by the Tribal Council. You can make the item or bring something that you have previously owned. Please write a short explanation - no more than 200 words - explaining why you couldn't live without this item. March 17-18, 2018 The Grand Bethel of Missouri is asking each Bethel, and anyone else who would like, to donate a basket which will be placed in a Silent Auction at Mini Session 2018. All proceeds will be donated to the Ruth Mary Leavitt Scholarship Fund to be given out as scholarships at Grand Session 2018. Please turn in baskets to the Tribal Council when you arrive on the island. We thank you in advance for your contributions! Raffle tickets will be available all-day Saturday and the Silent Auction results will be on Sunday morning at breakfast. Tickets: $1 each or 6 for $5 $15 for an Arm s Length of the Grand Bethel Honored Queen

Cupcakes will be judged on taste, appearance/decoration, quality, and creativity and can be anything that you would want to find and eat if you were on a deserted island. The cupcakes will be displayed and then sold for $1 each for the Grand Bethel charity this year, To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA); as dessert to accompany Saturday s dinner. Be sure to bring your money to enjoy the tasty treasures!
