BASH BROTHERS: Chris Davis and Adam Jones have each hit at least seven home runs against Toronto in 2012 and 2013 (the most by a Toronto opponent) According to STATS and the Society for American Baseball Research, the only other teammates to each hit seven or more home runs against an opponent in consecutive seasons are Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, who did it in three straight seasons against the Philadelphia A s (1930-32) and in two against the Cleveland Indians (1930-31). POUNDING THE JAYS: Chris Davis (16) and Adam Jones (14) have the most homers against the Jays since the start of the 2012 season (only players in double figures) Davis hit nine home runs against Toronto in 2012, tying Manny Ramirez (2001) for the most in a season against the Blue Jays in their history and he homered in four straight against them July 12-September 13 of this year Jones homered against the Jays in four straight games May 23-26 in Toronto and in three straight July 12-14 in Baltimore (per STATS, the only other player in O s history to have two separate streaks of three-plus straight games with a homer against the same team within a single season was Boog Powell, who did it in 1969 against the White Sox). ANOTHER BIRD IN THE NEST: Jason Pridie will be the 54 th player to wear an Orioles uniform this year, tying the 1955 Orioles club for the most different players in a season (the 2012 Orioles had 53 different players in uniform) The Birds have made 176 roster moves in 2013 after making 178 in 2012 23 players have made, or are looking to make, their Orioles debut this year (32 did so in 2012) Four Orioles (Clark, Gausman, McFarland and Urrutia) have made their MLB debuts, while Belfiore and Schoop are looking to make their MLB debuts. THE DROUGHT: The Orioles have not scored more than five runs in their last 21 contests (since September 2) Per STATS, that streak is tied for the fifth-longest in club history behind a pair of 26-game streaks and a pair of 24-game streaks The 26-game streaks were from 8/32/54-4/17/55 and 7/11-8/5/59, while the 24-game streaks were from 8/3-28/54 and 4/17-5/18/58 The last 21-game streak was from 9/5-27/92 The Orioles have scored four or fewer runs in seven straight games, their third such streak of the year (also June 30-July 7 and September 3-9) and their longest of the year They have scored four or fewer runs in 17 of their last 21 games. NO BIG DEAL: Chris Davis next strikeout will set a club record with 197, topping Mark Reynolds 196 in 2011 This year, Davis has 14 more doubles, 15 more homers, 18 more runs scored and 50 more RBI than Reynolds had in 2011. GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS : Chris Davis has hit 12 home runs on Wednesdays this year In A.L. history, only Tino Martinez (14 in 1997 for New York) has hit more Wednesday homers in a season Davis 12 are tied with Roger Maris (1961) and Frank Thomas (2000) for second The MLB record for Wednesday homers is 19 by Jeff Bagwell in 1999. A GROUP OF GRINDERS: The Orioles have had seven players (Chris Davis, J.J. Hardy, Adam Jones, Manny Machado, Nick Markakis, Nate McLouth and Matt Wieters) appear in 140 or more games this year According to STATS, that is the most in the majors this year (the Reds have six) and the most by an Orioles squad since the 1975 club had seven (Don Baylor, Mark Belanger, Paul Blair, Bobby Grich, Lee May, Brooks Robinson and Ken Singleton).
