Lauderdale Primary School Key Dates for 2018 ISSUE NO. 33: 13 TH NOVEMBER 2018 Term 4, 2018 Calendar MESSENGER FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dropping off and picking up students safely is one of the most important parts of each and every day. Unfortunately over the last week I have received phone calls from community members with real concerns around our students running across the carpark, some even accompanied by parents. Please ensure that your children follow the allocated paths to meet you and, as adults, we set a good example for all of our students to keep them safe. Our LPSCA are calling for nominations for 5 parent member positions. Nomination forms will be available at the office from tomorrow, Wednesday 14 th November. 2019 Student Assistance Scheme forms are now available at the office. If you were approved for this year, you should receive a letter shortly stating if you need to reapply. Congratulations to our two teams who competed at the SPSSA Interschool Swimming Carnival last week. Our school finished with a team effort of 1 st and 2 nd. Well done to all students. A detailed report is over the page. Tomorrow our Kinder Grade 2 Athletics Carnival will be held on the oval. We welcome parents/carers to come along and support their children and cheer along. Many of our Grade 6 students are attending orientation sessions at their respective High Schools for 2019. Please let your child s teacher know if they will be absent for whole or part days. A reminder to please let us know in writing if your child will not be attending Lauderdale Primary School in 2019. We are currently finalising classes for next year. Tracey Johnston Principal

Excursions On Tuesday 20 th November all Grade 6 students will be going on an excursion to the Sustainability Conference at Hobart College, Mount Nelson as part of a Science program. The bus will leave school at 9am and return by 2.45pm. Students will need to wear full school uniform and bring their morning tea, lunch, drink and something for swap meet. On Thursday 29 th November Kinder A Seymour and Kinder J Seymour will be going on an excursion to the Playhouse Theatre to see the performance Snow White, and to Bellerive Playground. The bus will leave school at 10.30am and return by 2.30pm. Students will need to wear school uniform, suitable walking shoes and sunscreen. Please bring morning tea, lunch and a drink. Today s tip from Di Vickers: Children don t have to read good books all the time. Try some comics, joke books, poems, manuals, newspapers, catalogues, footy cards etc. Mix it up a bit because as long as children enjoy reading they will improve. And don t forget to show children that you enjoy reading too! Zooper Dooper Grade 2/3 Stevens Fundraiser On Wednesday 14 th November, Grade 2/3 Stevens will be selling zooper dooper icy poles at lunch time. They will be selling them for $1 each in the bottom shade house. Assemblies Assemblies are held fortnightly in the Sports Centre at 11.45am. Below is a list of presenters for assemblies.
