MIDWEST COLLEGIATE JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS RULES, DIVISIONS AND AWARDS CONTEST RULES (Individual brackets) 1. Current IJF Rules as modified: No kansetsu-waza (armbars) in Novice divisions 2. Judogis do not have to be IJF approved, but they must be in compliance with current IJF standards (proper length). Athletes must wear a white judogi. Blue judogi is optional. First called contestant must wear white gi. Second called must wear a blue gi, or a white Gi with blue sash or belt. Women must wear a plain, white non-transparent shirt underneath their judogi. Athletes must provide their own white and blue belts. Two blue judogis will not be permitted to fight. 3. Novice divisions are 3 minutes; Advanced Men - 4 Minutes; Advanced Female 4 minutes, All Masters - 3 minutes. Participants are entitled to 5-minute rest in between matches in the same division. 4. CARE system will be in effect. 5. There will be two contest areas. Contest area will be 8 x 8 meters. Safety area will be 4 meters to adjoining mats and 3 meters everywhere else. 6. The tournament director reserves the right to make any changes deemed necessary to ensure the fairness and safety of the athletes.

Awards and Scoring for Collegiate division Points will be awarded according to the following schedule: 1 st place 10pts, 2 nd place 7pts, 3 rd place 5pts. The top five finishers of each college team will be used to calculate the overall team score. The Midwest Collegiate Cup will be awarded to the team with the top score.

MIDWEST COLLEGIATE JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS TEAM COMPETITION RULES Prior to the tournament, each state that is represented at this tournament will be given the opportunity to put together a state team. 1. A captain for each team will be selected by the tournament director. 2. The selected captain will be given the opportunity to put together 2 teams: A 5-man team and/or a 3-woman team 3. No more than 2 players from the same dojo per state 4. Two international teams will also be selected (5-man and 3-woman). Athletes must have citizenship in another country to be eligible. Dojos are allowed to nominate 2 additional players for this team. 5. Men will fight men and women will fight women. No mixed matches. 6. Hikiwaki is allowed for strategy. 7. Captain can change line up for the team match. But players can be strategically moved within 2 weight categories. (Mixing heavy vs. technical advantage) 8. Full IJF rules will be in effect. Men 4 minutes, Women 4 minutes. 9. This will be an exhibition event. No fee will be charged to the team to participate in this event, however, all athletes MUST be registered in the individual brackets (Collegiate, Seniors, Masters) to compete. 10. Competition method: Knock-out. If your team loses, you are out. 11. Awards will go to the top male team and the top female team. Tournament director reserves the right to make changes to the teams in order for a fair and even contest for all.
