HPCL s Contribution in Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan HPCL over last three years has adopted Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan as a way of life to fulfil the dream of Clean India as envisioned by Honorable Prime Minister of India. The approach of HPCL towards Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has been of holistic intervention which includes primarily the creation of infrastructure to promote sanitation and maintenance, sensitization and awareness generation on cleanliness and sanitation. Under this approach, a multi-pronged strategy is used involving all stakeholders of HPCL such as customers, employees, dealers and distributors, suppliers, CSR partners etc. Some of the initiatives taken under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan are: More than fourteen hundred school toilets have been constructed under Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan in multiple states. The efforts of HPCL under Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan have ensured sanitary facilities for more than 1.5 lakhs boys and girls from remote rural areas of the country. Thousands of activities for awareness and sensitization were taken up wherein multiple activities including cleanliness drives, walkathon, street plays, school functions, and community based activities were conducted by employees in collaboration with various agencies. HPCL observed National Cleanliness Campaign in 2015 and Swachhata Pakhwada in 2016 which witnessed mass participation and became a platform for sensitizing large number of people on importance of cleanliness. Community Toilets were constructed in urban slums to counter open defecation and promote health and hygiene. Swachhata Rath was launched for awareness generation on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Tree plantation drives were taken around company s operational areas HPCL is also collaborating with various Municipal Corporations and is supporting different cleanliness initiatives including installation of garbage collectors, providing compactor vehicles, repairing of drainages etc. HPCL under Swachh Iconic Places initiative is supporting Municipal Corporation of Amritsar to improve the sanitation facilities to Global standards at Golden Temple Amritsar through multi-stakeholders initiatives. Waste to Fuel Plant (generation of fuel from waste materials) is also being set up at Ajmer under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
