Exhibitors must be a St. James Parish 4-H member. 2. All pets must be restrained or in cages while at the show. (Example: dogs on leash or kennel, birds or cats in cages, etc.) 3. All pets must be well behaved. No biting, excessive noise-making or lunging at people will be accepted. Pet Show photos will be taken. PET COSTUME CONTEST! Refreshments will be sold. 4. All pets must be owned either by exhibitor or an immediate family member. 5. An exhibitor may show only one pet. 6. Pets must be healthy in order to participate. 7. Exhibitors will be responsible for their own cleanup. 8. Pet Show begins at 9:00 a.m. Awards 1. Ribbons and certificates will be given to the first three places in each sub-category. 2. A trophy will be awarded to the Best Pet of each class and Best Pet of the show. 3. Participation certificates will be given to all exhibitors. You may want to plan some kind of clean up event or trash bash around your school or community. October is breast cancer awareness month. New month, new service challenge! Join the Louisiana State 4-H Citizenship Board and all of Louisiana 4-H in raising awareness for ALL cancers during October. Share how you participate in cancer awareness, community service for cancer patients and more! Share your pictures with St. James 4-H so we can post for all the community and state to see.

Ready, Set, Science Camp November 11-13 Camp Grant Walker More information to follow Deadline to register is November 1. 4-H FOOD FEST COOKERY CONTEST Saturday, DECEMBER 12th 9AM to Noon, Festival of the Bonfires Cooking Contest Categories for 5 specific agricultural commodities! Egg Cookery, Ground Beef Cookery, Seafood Cookery, Poultry Cookery, Sugar Cookery Winners will be eligible for the District Cookery Contest on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. PLEASE READ ALL RULES & REGULATIONS BELOW CAREFULLY. Each contest has it s own set of guidelines that will be included in our next Jumblelaya. 4-H ers may enter in more than one category, but only ONE DISH PER CONTEST. For example, a student can enter one egg cookery dish and one sugar cookery dish. A typed or neatly written COPY OF YOUR RECIPE must be included with your dish. Your name, grade & school must be on the back of your recipe. Bring only half of your prepared dish in a disposable container. All entries will be discarded at the end of the contest. Contest entries will be scored on TASTE, APPEARANCE, ORIGINALITY, & RECIPE. Awards will be given for each division in each category. FOOD SAFETY IS IMPORTANT! All dishes, with the exception of some Sugar Cookery entries, must be brought to the contest completely chilled in an ice chest with ice. We will heat up your dish at the Food Fest, if needed. Dishes not chilled and transported this way will be disqualified.
VOLUNTEER AT THE COOKIE DECORATING CONTEST FESTIVAL OF THE BONFIRES ACTIVITIES December 11-13, 2016 COOKIE DECORATING WORKSHOP & CONTEST Saturday, December 12th, beginning at 10:00 am under the tents Enjoy the Cookie Decorating Workshop. Each 4-H er will receive 2 cookies to decorate. Decorating supplies will be provided. If you have a special decoration in mind, you can bring your own supplies. Awards will be announced on Facebook and at January Club Meetings. We invite each 4-H Club to ADOPT-A-TREE at the Festival of the Bonfires! Choose a theme for your club and decorate your tree with handmade or recycled ornaments. BE CREATIVE & WIN! Trees can be decorated under the tents Wednesday or Thursday afterschool, BEFORE the Festival begins. There is no charge for the tree.
