4-H Move Across Missouri Tis the season for 4-H Move Across Missouri (MOVE)! Enrollment for new and re-enrollment for current MOVErs begins January 1, 2014. As you know, MOVE promotes physical activity and encourages youths to engage in a broad range of activities such as walking, biking, running, swimming, dance, taekwondo, gardening and more. Using a paper tracking system (no online system this year), youths and their families can log the number of minutes they accumulate throughout the year and during the competitive component of the MOVE program from February 1 April 30. 4-Hers can enroll as individuals and/or as part of a team. An individual MOVEr may also be a part of a team. A team can consist of a family or members of a 4-H club or group. MOVE awards will be provided. To sign up visit - http://www.4h.missouri.edu/programs/move/ Summer Host Families Needed It is time to start thinking about locating host families for my summer month-long Japanese delegates. I realize for some of you that have hosted last summer or in past years, you may not want to host again so soon but I am sure you have friends and/or family members who might be interested. Please share your experience with them and see if they would be willing to host. Basic information: ages 12-16 (both male and female students) arrive to your family: Friday, July 22 OR Saturday, July 23 (to be confirmed) depart from your family: Thursday, August 18 We prefer that the Japanese delegates have a basic home experience and do not expect for you to entertain them or make arrangements for any special type of travel except what your own family might have planned. Their language skills will be limited but that should not be a concern to you youth adjust very well to communicating in other ways. Financially, we ask that you only provide room/board and include them for social activities. They will bring their own spending money for souvenirs and other personal items they wish to purchase while here. Families do not have to be currently enrolled in the 4-H program. We will ask a family to enroll and go through our state-wide screening process but they are not expected to be a full participant in local programs. The deadline to identify host families is March 1 st. This may sound early but it allows me time to match the delegate with family and start communication with the Japanese family and provide an early host family orientation session. We are also required to conduct an in-home visit and process the application through our screening. I would be happy to accept applications any time before the deadline too. We prefer the on-line application process and here is the link: http://mo4h.missouri.edu/global-experiences/host-family for more details and how to apply electronically (preferred method). It is easy to set up your account and proceed with the application. However, if you want to do a hard copy, let me know and I can provide that for you.we also need two families to host the chaperon she will spend about l/2 of the time with one family and then the remainder with a second family. You do not have to have children hosting age to host the chaperon.
What you need String (many colors) Tape FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS What you do Twisted Friendship Bracelets 1. Pick 3 colors of string. 2. Place a knot in one end of the string. Tape that end to a tabletop. Hold the strings together as group and twist them. Keep twisting them in the same direction. Twist tightly, making the twist longer as you go. 3. Hold the twisted piece with one hand, put your finger in the middle of the twist. Press down. 4. Fold the twisted piece in half. Gently take your finger out of the middle of the twist it will twist around itself. (Don t worry if the twist bunches up. You can smooth it out). 5. Tie the loose ends together with a knot. Braided friendship Bracelets 1. Pick out 3 colors of string. 2. Place a know in one end of the string. Tape that end to a tabletop. 3.
