Runs have come at a premium as 5 of the past 11 games have been decided by shutout with the Travs losing 4 of those games. They ve scored 20 runs during this time with a.231 batting average, while the pitching staff holds a 3.42 ERA. Homer Watch Travs games have involved the fewest home runs in the Texas League this year with the Travs hitting a league-low 30 dingers while allowing a league -low 30 bombs. Recently it s been even more rare to see a home run as the Travs last long ball came last Thursday (nearly 8 full games, 197 at bats, Erik Komatsu), but opponents haven t hit a homer since last Wednesday (Patrick Wisdom, 239 at bats, nearly 9 full games) All-Stars Announced The rosters for the 2014 Texas League All-Star Game were announced yesterday by the Travs, who host the game for the first time at Dickey- Stephens Park on June 24. Seven Travelers players headline the rosters including 1B Brian Hernandez, 2B Alex Yarbrough, OF Adam Melker, LHP Michael Roth, RHP Orangel Arenas, RHP David Carpenter and RHP Cam Bedrosian. The Travs coaching staff led the manager Phillip Wellman will coach the North Division team. Drew Rucinski will take Bedrosian s place on the North Division team. Shut It All Out For the 4th time in a week the Travs were shutout in a 2-0 loss in the nightcap Monday against the Naturals. It was the 16th shutout the Travs have been involved in, with 9 of those shutouts occurring since May 26. The Travs are 3-6 in shutouts during that 16 day stretch, which includes 2 shutout losses to the Naturals this series. Dickey-Stephens Park has seen 12 shutouts this year already with opponents winning 9 of those games. Rucinski s Gem Drew Rucinski fired the first 9-inning, complete-game shutout in the Texas League this year to open the series with the Naturals on Saturday. In pitching the first shutout of his career, Rucinski allowed 5 singles without issuing a walk. He struck out 6 batters and threw just 99 pitches in the first 9-inning CG shutout by a Travs pitcher since Matt Shoemaker on July 8, 2011 against the Midland RockHounds. Roadwork The Travelers have found hitting and scoring on the road much easier than at Dickey-Stephens Park. In 28 road games they re averaging 5.3 runs and hold a.280 team batting average,.345 OBP and 22 home runs. In 36 home games they re averaging just 2.5 runs a game with a.210 batting average, 8 home runs and.279 OBP. They ve also been shutout 9 times at home. Golden Gloves With 6 errors committed in the past 2 games, the Travs no logner have the fewest errors in Minor League Baseball. Their 44 errors is the fewest at the Double-A classification and tied for 3rd fewest in Minor League Baseball They also hold the highest fielding percentage at.981, which is.003 higher than any other Texas League team. They ve also put together streaks of 53 errorless innings and 91 innings without an error during April. The Travs total of just 24 unearned runs allowed this year is nearly half the average of the rest of the Texas League teams. The Travs have played 36-of-64 games without making an error. Travs & Angels Sign Through 2016 The Travs and Los Angeles Angels last Thursday announced they have extended their affiliation through the 2016 season, adding 2 more years to the current contract that runs through 2014.
