CONCERT DAY : SUNDAY NOVEMBER 25 HAIR FOR THE CONCERT All students are to wear hair in a slick Ballet Bun. Please see instructions below 1. Spray loose/free hair with hairspray until it becomes damp 2. Brush hair into a low ponytail and secure with elastic 3. Twirl ponytail in one direction to form a coil. This should be loose 4. Wrap the coil around base of ponytail to begin forming the bun. Keep the tension very loose. At this stage the bun will look messy 5. Use one or two straight/french pins (not bobby pins) to pierce the bun so that it holds. You may not be able to take your hand of the bun at this point as it has yet to be secured. 6. Using your free hand, wrap a fine hair net around the bun once or twice depending on the size of the net. Then, manipulate the bun with your hand to create a nice rounded shape. It is important to start pinning only after the hairnet is in place. 7. Proceed to stick straight /French hair pins (not bobby pins) through the bun along the outer most edge. One prong of the pin catches the bun the other prong catches the head. Pin the entire way around the bun using approximately 25 pins 8. The bun should feel secure and comfortable. Finish with hairspray. Hair is to be done at home before arriving at the theatre and then touched-up with hairspray before each show Please bring the following hair products to the Theatre on concert day (labelled with your child s name) Hairspray Brush and comb Hair elastics Bobby pins (at least 60 to use when attaching hair accessories) Hair pins (French Pins) and nets Safety pins
