The Eagles are led by Alex Isern s 26 points (9 goals, 8 assists). Mason Lavallet and Marc Segarra have netted seven goals each, while Achille Obougou has tallied six scores of his own. HELP SMU SAAC HUNGER SMU s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be participating in the Let s SAAC Hunger program, a Conference USA conference-wide community service initiative. SMU is offering $2 tickets to any fan that brings two canned items to the SMU Ticket Office on game day. There is a limit of one ticket per two-can donation. All of SMU s collected goods will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank. WE RE TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS! SMU has made the NCAA Tournament in each of the past three seasons and in 17 of the past 19 years. The Mustangs reached the Elite Eight in 2010, taking No. 4 North Carolina to extra time before falling on penalty kicks. Overall, this is the program s 29th postseason appearance, going 31-22-7. The Mustangs advanced to the College Cup in 2000 and 2005. MUSTANGS FALL IN C-USA CHAMPIONSHIP SMU was defeated by Tulsa, 5-0, in the 2012 Conference USA men s soccer championship on Sunday at Regions Park. Senior T.J. Nelson, junior Juan Castillo and sophomore Andrew Morales were named to the C-USA Championship All-Tournament team. MUSTANGS TIE KENTUCKY, ADVANCE TO C-USA CHAMPIONSHIP ON PKs SMU twice rebounded from one-goal deficits to tie Kentucky, 2-2, and win penalty kicks, 4-1, in the semifinals of the C-USA tournament Friday night at Regions Park. Kentucky struck early with a goal in the third minute by Cameron Wilder for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.

Morales evened the score at one with his 28th-minute goal. Castillo ran down the right side to the end line and sent a cross into the box for senior Ben Hill. Hill s shot was blocked, but Morales gathered the rebound and launched a bullet from the edge of the six-yard box. The goal was the fourth of the season for Morales. The Wildcats regained the lead in the 61st minute as Gabriel Conelian scored on a header, making it 2-1 Kentucky. Castillo scored a goal of his own in the 75th minute after senior Ryan Rosenbaum picked up the ball in the middle of the attacking half and fed Castillo. Castillo then took a touch, pulled the ball back and shot the ball from the top of the 18-yard box, knotting the score, 2-2. The tally was his second of the year. The teams remained tied, 2-2, after two overtime periods, taking the game to penalty kicks. SMU won the shoot out, 4-1, on conversions by freshman John Lujano, freshman Eddie Puskarich, Morales and freshman Michael King. Goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra stopped two of Kentucky s three attempts. SMU DOMINATES C-USA SEASON AWARDS After winning the Conference USA regular season title, SMU dominated the C-USA post-season awards announced Tuesday. Head coach Tim McClements was named the Conference USA Coach of the Year for the second time in the past three seasons after leading the Mustangs to another league title. Junior goalkeeper Jaime Ibarra was tabbed Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and was selected First Team All-C-USA. Senior T.J. Nelson and sophomores Tyler Engel, Damian Rosales and Aaron Simmons were named to the All-Conference USA second team. Newcomer Andrew Morales was tabbed third-team All- C-USA, and John Lujano and Michael King were named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. MUSTANGS WIN CONFERENCE USA SMU clinched the Conference USA regular season title with a 6-2 mark in Conference USA and is the top seed for the C-USA Championship. It is the Mustangs fourth C-USA regular season title (2005, 2006, 2010, 2012) since joining the league. SMU has also claimed two C-USA Championships (2006, 2011). Head Coach Tim McClements Tim McClements is in his fifth season as head coach of the SMU men s soccer program. He is just the third head coach in the history of one of the most successful programs in the nation. This season, McClements was named the 2012 Conference USA Coach of the Year after leading the program to its second C-USA regular season title in the past three years. The 2011 season saw McClements lead the Ponies to the team s first Conference USA Championship since the 2006 season. SMU also earned the No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In 2010, McClements coached the Mustangs to one of their most successful seasons in program history. The team posted a 16-2-2 record and made an NCAA Elite Eight appearance. SMU won the Conference USA regular season title, going 7-1 in league play, and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals where the team was eliminated on penalty kicks by UNC. For his efforts, McClements was named the Conference USA Coach of the Year and the NSCAA Midwest Regional Coach of the Year. Previously, McClements served as an assistant coach for several years during two stints with the Mustangs.
