Notice of Race 1. RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012. 1.2 The rules of the relevant class boat association shall apply. 1.3 The Introductory Rules of Racing (IRR) will apply to divisions designated as Green Fleet. 2. ADVERTISING 2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. 2.2 The organising authority reserves the right to refuse advertising by a boat or competitor when it is in conflict with an event sponsor or the laws of the South Australian or Australian Governments. 3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The Youth Tri Series Regatta is open to all boats of the following classes: Optimist Holdfast Trainer International Cadet Laser Laser Radial Laser 4.7 Heron Cadet Dinghy 303 125 420 29er Cherub Access Dinghy Hobie16 Sailboard Open Bic Pacers Byte C11 3.2 A minimum of 4 entries for a series is required to constitute a class. Classes with less than four entries may be allocated to mixed class divisions based on YSA recommended yardstick. 3.3 Competitors must be under 21 years of age at 31 December 2012. 3.4 Competitors must be current members of a club affiliated with Yachting Australia. 3.5 ENTRY: Eligible sailors may enter online at www.sa.yachting.org.au Late entries may be made at the host club during registration. 3.6 A Parent / Guardian consent must be submitted to the YSA office with the entry for each competitor.
4. FEES 4.1 Entry fees for each boat for the Youth Tri Series Regatta are: Full Tri Series Regatta (all 3 Series) Entry: Junior (Optimist, Open Bic, Holdfast Trainer) $100 per boat. Youth (All other classes listed above) $150 per boat. Full Tri Series Regatta Entries due 7 th September 2012. Single Series (single event) Entry: Junior (Optimist, Bic Open, Holdfast Trainer) $50 per boat per event. Early Entry $40 per boat per event. Youth (All other classes listed above) $70 per boat per event. Early Entry $60 per boat per event. 5. SCHEDULE. 5.1 Youth Tri Series Regatta: Event Host Club Dates Single Event Early Entry Due Registration and Late Event Entry Series 1 Port Lincoln Yacht Club 29 th 30 th Sept 2012 7 th Sept 2012 0830 29 th Sept 2012 Series 2 Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club 16 th 17 th Dec 2012 1st Dec 2012 0830 16 th Dec 2012 Series 3 Largs Bay Sailing Club 9 th 10 th Feb 2013 26th Jan 2012 0830 9 th Feb 2013 5.2 A Briefing will be conducted at 0930 on the first day of each series. 5.3 No Warning signal will be made before 1000 on any day. 5.4 No Warning signal will be made after 1630 on any day. 5.5 Prizes will be presented as soon as possible after racing on the final day of each series. 5.6 A maximum of 12 Races are scheduled for each series. 6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 6.1 The sailing instructions will be available after 0830hrs at registration for each series. 7. VENUE 7.1 The Youth Tri Series Regatta will conducted at the Port Lincoln Yacht Club, the Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club and the Largs Bay Sailing Club. 7.2 Racing will be conducted on the waters in the vicinity of the host club. 8. THE COURSES 8.1 The courses will generally be trapezoidal or Windward / Return.
8.2 Course diagrams, including the approximate angles between legs, the order in which marks are to be passed, and the side on which each mark is to be left, will be detailed at the briefing and displayed on the Notice Board. 8.3 The approximate race duration will be 25 minutes. 9. PROTEST MEDIATION 9.1 Protests arising from participation in this regatta may be subject to mediation. A boat wishing to protest must indicate their intention to the Race Committee within 15 minutes of her finish of the race in which she wishes to protest. 9.2 Any protests will be heard as soon as possible after sailing. A schedule will be posted on the notice board. 9.3 A Protest Committee will be constituted and Appendix P may apply. 10. SCORING 10.1 Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 10.2 When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. 10.3 When 6 to 9 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 10.4 When 10 to 12 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores. 10.5 The Youth Tri Series Regatta will be scored by adding the finishing positions from each event. 11. SAFETY 11.1 All competitors shall wear personal flotation devices that are in good condition and are in accordance with the specifications issued or approved by a national authority or standards organisation and branded in the country of origin or manufacture. 11.2 Discretionary penalties will apply to Rule 41 Outside Help. Actions of the Race Committee in retrieving crews from the water and returning them to their boats may not be penalised. 12. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS 12.1 In participating in an event, a competitor automatically grants to the organising authority and the sponsors of the event, the right in perpetuity, to make, use and show, from time to time and at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or film television and other reproductions of him/her during the period of the competition for the said event in which the competitor participates and in all material related to the said event without compensation. 13. RADIO COMMUNICATION 13.1 While on the water, a boat shall not carry equipment capable of making radio transmissions or receiving radio transmissions except for equipment provided by the organising authority. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.
14. PRIZES 14.1 Prizes will be awarded to each Series as well as for the Youth Tri Series Regatta overall. 14.2 Prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third Overall for each class in each Series. 14.3 Other prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Organising Authority, including awards for effort and improvement. 15. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 15.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. 15.2 The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 16. INSURANCE 16.1 Each participating boat must be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5M Aus or the equivalent. All owners/competitors (guardians) who sign the Entry Form are deemed to have made a declaration that they hold such cover. 17. AMENDMENTS 17.1 Any amendment to this Notice of Race will be posted on the notice board and the Yachting South Australia web site at www.sa.yachting.org.au 18.
