Year 2 and 3 T20 Cricket Last Tuesday all of Year 2 and 3 students were involved in a T20 Cricket Gala Day held here at Hills Grammar. We were fortunate enough to have Cricket NSW staff come out and coordinate the day. With all students rotating around different games which allowed them to experience the skills of throwing, catching, fielding, bowling and hitting under the guise of playing a game of cricket. Students were actively involved and had a great day. If your child is interested in playing cricket this year, we still have vacancies in our Under 8 team. This is open to both boys and girls and the format of the game is very similar to what the kids experienced on Tuesday. Games are played on a Saturday morning across the Hornsby shire and most games start at 8am and finish by 10am. Netball Club Grand Final Week Saturday 2 September Finals weekend 14'3s The Under 14s had an unbelievable game last Saturday in the Grand Final qualifier. We played Mount St Benedict s who finished first in the preliminary rounds. Scores were even at full time and the girls had to go into extra time, playing their best game of the season the girls finished eventual winners 30-29. The girls will now go into the Grand final with an extra level of confidence and self-belief. Congratulations and we hope to see as many people as possible at the courts on Saturday. Grand final starts at 11.30am Cadet 5 Saturday s game got off to a good start with Brig winning first centre, the positive start continued throughout the entirety of the game. The score for the first half was neck and neck with Thornleigh putting up a strong fight in defence. However, Olivia and Sam Brown kept their heads up and pulled through with an amazing success rate in shooting this week. Claire and Brig held their ground in the centre court, helping to bring the ball into the goal circle. Julia performed some amazing intercepts turning the ball over, passing it back down to our attacking end. Bec, Alice and Sam Lacey, worked hard to get the rebounds. The final score was 45 32, with Hills Grammar coming out on top. The girls have now made the Grand Final this weekend, game starts at 3.15pm. Looking forward to another great game. Grand finals this weekend. Please come down this weekend to support our three teams at Pennant Hills Netball Courts 13'3s at 10am 14,3s at 11:30am Cadet 5s at 3:15pm. We were up against William Clarke and the boys played some very entertaining rugby in the first half and went out to an early 12-0 lead. The WCC boys were able to peg the score back and by the second half both teams were going try for try. In the end, the WCC boys prevailed and ended up winning 36-31. Hills Fit MMA Fit Self-Defence Hills Fit is a co-curricular activity that allows all students to participate in a range of fitness and recreation activities. This week we profile our Friday morning activity MMA Fit. This activity allows students to participate in a safe and controlled environment to work on their fitness using the skills and activities that MMA fighters would use to prepare their bodies for competition. This type of fitness involves a unique type of training which has students challenging each other in various combative moves. Another element to the training is the self-defence teaching that Mr Muir teachers. This has been particularly popular among our female students and we encourage more students to come down and check out some of these sessions. MMA Fit runs on a Friday morning from 7.30-8.30am Copyright Hills Grammar 2017. All Rights Reserved. 10 of 14
