Integrated Pest Management (IPM) workshop: with particular reference to grasshopper management The US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Oregon State University Extension Service are extending an open invitation to an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) workshop to be held on May 2 and 3 at the Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, OR. The workshop will offer latest technology for dealing with grasshopper outbreaks, grass and cereal pests, and invasive insect species in Oregon. Place: OSU Extension Service Conference Center at the Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, OR Date: May 2 and 3, 2005 Time: May 2: 10 am to 6 pm May 3: 8 am to 5 pm Who can participate? The workshop is open to growers, extension agents, public and private land managers, students, and any other interested parties. Some of the topics of the workshop are: Latest tools on how to manage grasshoppers Biology and the ecological role of grasshoppers Grazing management as a method to keep grasshopper populations down Integrated Pest Management of important grass and cereal pests How to design an Integrated Pest Management program Invasive insect species and their impact on Oregon s environment and agriculture Speakers: Alexandre Latchininsky (University of Wyoming) Scott Schell (University of Wyoming) Paul Jepson (OSU, Corvallis) Glenn Fisher (OSU, Corvallis) Gary Brown (USDA-APHIS-PPQ, Portland) Kathleen Johnson (ODA, Salem) The workshop is free of charge but the number of participants is limited so please act quickly to reserve your space. Make immediate left again at the BMCC sign. At the top of the hill, turn left and follow the road around to Umatilla Hall and park below the building. b) From Pasco, Washington Take Highway 395 South to I-82. Take I-82 South to I-84 (Approximately 35 miles to I-84). Take I- 84 East to Exit 207, Turn left over the overpass and then merge slightly right and follow signs toward City Center. Turn left at BMCC sign onto Carden Avenue. Make immediate left again at the BMCC sign. At the top of the hill, turn left and follow the road around to Umatilla Hall and park below the building.

c) From Boise, Idaho Take I-84 West (in Idaho) to Exit 207 (in Oregon) Turn right onto Westgate Avenue and follow signs toward City Center. Turn left at BMCC sign onto Carden Avenue. Make immediate left again at the BMCC sign. At the top of the hill, turn left and follow the road around to Umatilla Hall and park below the building. d) From Walla Walla, Washington Take Highway 11 Southeast following signs to Pendleton City Center. Turn slightly right onto SE Court Avenue. Follow SW Court (HWY 30) through the City Center. After the Pendleton Round- Up grounds make a slight right and continue on as it becomes Westgate. Make a right turn after the Umatilla River Bridge. Go one block and turn left onto Carden Avenue. Immediately turn right at the BMCC sign and proceed up the hill. At the top of the hill, turn left and follow the road around to Umatilla Hall and park below the building.
