Using equipment such as whipper snippers, hedge trimmers and other equipment in close proximity to others What ca happen? Fire/explosion from leaking fuel Damage to eyes, skin from contact with fuel Lacerations, puncture wounds, and possible eye injuries caused by objects being ejected or coming into contact with rotating cutting devices and only use purpose built fuel containers in good condition Wear correct PPE as per manufacturer and at least gloves and goggles Always add fuel before beginning Never remove the fuel cap or attempt to add fuel while the engine is running Always refuel and lubricate the equipment in a well ventilated area side Clean up any fuel spillages immediately Replace fuel cap securely 1 Ensure there is an adequate safe ing distance between ers where there are 2 or more ers in the same area. Where they must cross over, there must be adequate protection for both of them one or both should stop the task that they are involved in until the other has passed Use powered tools and equipment during local government regulated hours. Never use equipment around residents/visitors. Set up safety signs and barriers where necessary to prevent others from coming too close to powered tools and equipment. Others should be kept at least 15 meters away from equipment whilst in use.
