SWIM STARTERS Parent*/Child Swim Lessons (ages 6 months- yrs.) Stage A/Water Discovery (previously Waterbabies) Parent* and infant/toddler introduction to the aquatic environment. Friday 9:-1am Stage B/Water Exploration (previously Parent/Tot) Parent* works with their toddler/preschool child to learn fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Wednesday 9:-1am Friday 9:-1am Saturday 9:-1am * At the Y, we know families take a variety of forms. As a result, we define parent broadly to include all adults with primary responsibility for raising children, including biological parents, adoptive parents, guardians, stepparents, grandparents, or any other type of parenting relationship. Parent & Me Playgroup Interact with others during our open gym time. FREE, no registration required, just come and play. Friday 1:am-12:15pm Messy Bees (1 months-2 yrs.) Explore art in this creative class. Each week learn a new art technique that will put a smile on your child s face, but the best part is we do all the clean-up. Dress for mess! Parent must be present, participation is encouraged. Friday 9:-1am Saturday 11:am-12pm Little Rollers (1.5- yrs.) Tots complete a structured warm-up, conquer our obstacle course and participate in cooperative play. Saturday 1:-11am Music Wiggle & Giggle (1.5- yrs.) Make music magic, groove to the rhythm and beat using fun instruments. Tuesday 9:-1:15am Talented Toddlers (2- yrs.) Encourages language and social interaction, while enjoying a story and craft. practice cutting, gluing and painting. Parent must be present and participation is helpful. This class combines physical movement and creative expression while utilizing things found in nature for fun art projects. Thursday 1:-2:15pm Gymnastics Jumpstart (-5 yrs.) Tumble and turn, balance and bounce, practicing basic gymnastics skills. Tuesday 12:-1:15pm Kids (-5 yrs.) Improve strength. flexibility and coordination. Learn fun and challenging poses, partner and group poses, yoga games, and breathing. Friday 12:-1:15pm Little Engineers (-5 yrs.) Cooperative play using K Nex, Legos and other blocks to create something new each week. Monday 12:-1:15pm Superhero Gym (-5 yrs.) Bring out your inner superhero by conquering the obstacle course and playing superhero themed games. Saturday 9:-1:15am Wearable Works of Art (-5 yrs.) Kids create bowls, bracelets, bags and more. Your child will learn the basic skills of the game and team work. Games will be about an hour in length, spending the first half hour teaching and then game play. Volunteer coaches needed. All volunteers must submit a Volunteer Application, found on the YMCA website. CLASSES FOR CHILDREN 6-12 Years Martial Arts (6+ yrs.) White - Orange Belt Karate Basic techniques in kicking, punching and forms. Learn self discipline, focus, and better their self-esteem. Uniforms available for purchase $5+. Wednesday Introduction to Hip Hop (6-9 yrs.) Learn basic hip hop steps and how to incorporate them into a routine. Monday Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons For individuals, semi-private lessons are for two children with one instructor, scheduled at the same day and time. The more you purchase, the more you SAVE. Create sculptures, paintings and explore famous artists techniques, using a variety of paints and mediums to discover your inner artist. Tuesday Ridley Rocks (6-9 yrs.) Each week children will theme paint a rock and hide it in the community. Thursday Basketball (6-9 yrs.) Fundamental skills including dribbling, passing and shooting. Saturday 1:15-2pm Basketball (1-12 yrs.) Skill development, shooting drills/technique, defensive principles, competitive play. Wednesday 6:15-7pm College & Career Exploration (1-16 yrs.) Your future looks bright as you explore potential careers and college majors with community professionals in the field, take an aptitude test to see where you might excel in the workforce, brush up on your leadership skills, and participate in mock interviews. Tuesday 4:-5:15pm Thursday 5:15-6pm Saturday 11-11:45am Stage 6/Stroke Mechanics (previously Flying Fish/Shark) Refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle. Tuesday 4:-5:15pm Thursday 5:15-6pm Saturday 11:45am-12:pm Fall Food Truck Festival Sunday, September 24 5-7pm Bring your family, some blankets and chairs for a fun night eating from local food trucks in our back parking lot. Entrance fee is $1 (meals from the food truck vendors are an additional charge). Kids can enjoy a moon bounce, face painting and more. REGISTER ONLINE TODAY TO JOIN THE FUN! Pumpkin Dunk Saturday, October 14 6:-8pm Come pick your own pumpkin right out of our pool. Once you pick it -- dry it off then decorate it. Halloween games round out this great event. Parent must swim with each child. Cost: FP: $4 Comm./Non-Member: $6 Trunk or Treat Family Event Friday, October 27 6-7:pm Join us for a fun-filled, family event! Children should come dressed in costume to enjoy trick or treating and safe treats from Halloween inspired themed car trunks in our back parking lot. We will also have games, monster mash dancing, and a healthy snack for all children. It will be safe, fun and spook-tacular fun! MUST REGISTER BY TUESDAY, OCTOBER 24. Aquatics Leaders Club (ages 1-15) Interested in eventually becoming a YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor? Teens will learn the skills and attitude necessary to provide a safe and fun aquatic learning environment for young children. Class includes in-water job shadowing, assisting in select Swim Lesson Classes, and out of water time to understand and learn the tools necessary to teach. Upon completion, participants will have Basic Water Safety skills and can volunteer as a Swim Instructor Assistant. Participants, 15+, can then apply to be a paid Swim Lesson Instructor. Thursday 4:-6pm (plus additional pre-arranged swim assisting time.) 4v4 Adult Basketball Tournament September 24, 217 at the Ridley Area YMCA This tournament is for adults, ages 18+. Tournament begins at 2pm - PIAA officials. Winners receive a three month YMCA Membership and free entrance into the next tournament. Players MUST register by September 2, 217. You and your children, enrolled in lessons, can work on class skills without a PFD. One child at a time permitted to swim without PFD, and must remain within arm s reach of parent. Mon-Fri 2-pm Sunday 2-pm Cost: Free LAP SWIM Available to Full Privilege Members, 18 years +. Lane ropes will be removed before the start of scheduled classes. FAMILY/OPEN RECREATIONAL SWIM Available for our FP Family Members to enjoy pool time together. Anyone under the age of 18 will be swim tested, no exceptions. All children, 14 and under, must be accompanied by an adult, 18+, in the water. Parents must watch their children and keep them within arm s reach, unless they have passed their swim test. Children under 12, who have not passed our Swim Test, are REQUIRED to wear a PFD and must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Lap lanes may be added/removed at the discretion of the lifeguard. OTHER POOL INFORMATION Lifeguards are in charge of pool safety for all swimmers. Proper swim attire is necessary. Bathing suit required, no cut off or mesh shorts allowed.
