Vaurien World Championship Marina di Grosseto (Tuscany) - Italy 26.07 02.08.2014 Notice of Race The Vaurien World Championship will be held in Marina di Grosseto (Tuscany Italy) JULY 26 - AUGUST 2-2014. It will be organized by the Compagnia della Vela di Grosseto, with the support of the AS Vaurien Italia. The Vaurien World Championship is organised under the auspices of: The Italian Sailing Federation (FIV); The International Vaurien Class Association. 1. RULES 1.1 The event will be governed by rules as defined by RRS ISAF. No national prescription shall apply. 1.2 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text shall prevail. 1.3 Appendix P of the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016 will apply. 2. Organizing Authority (CLUB) Compagnia della Vela Grosseto 3. SCHEDULE AND FORMAT 3.1. Schedule 14 races are scheduled with 3 races max / day. If there are more than 80 registered boats, 2 groups may be created, racing on a triangle course.

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 4.1. The regatta is open to boats of the Vaurien class. 4.2. Participants are selected by their National Class Association. Additional places can be allocated with the agreement of the President of the Comité International du Vaurien. 4.3. Entry-deadline: June 20 2014, a cumulative entry by the national classes is welcome. 4.4. Online entry is possible on: www.vaurien.it/world2014. 4.5. Entries shall be done using the forms (Appendix n 1) enclosed to this notice of race and must be signed personally by the participants on July 27 at 12:00 at the latest. 4.6. Entry fee: 150,00, per Boat, by credit card in the event website or bank tansfer. It will be possible to perform an entry after the June 20 2014 only with the CIV and the Organizing Committee agreement. In this case the entry fee will be 180,00, per boat. 4.8. All competitors (helmsmen and crew) shall comply with the ISAF Eligibility Code. 4.9. A completed entry form requires a payment of the entry fee. 4.10. Entry fees are not refundable. 4.11. Final registration is subjected to the presentation of following documents: - the National ASVaurien membership; - a valid measurement certificate; - a valid third party liability insurance (minimum 1.000.000 Euro); - Italian crews must have valid FIV membership with medical visit. Foreign crews must comply with their national authority regulation. 4.12. Sailing Instructions will be available at the registration. 5. MEASUREMENT 5.1. All boats will be checked for compliance with the Class Rules. 5.2. Measurement will take place as scheduled in the program.
5.3. Measurement checks may be carried out at any time during the event. 5.4. The following identification signals will be checked: a) Junior: black circle of 250 mm diameter on the top part of the mainsail and on both sides of the sail("back to back"); b) Female: red rhombus of 250 x 400 mm diameter on the top part of the mainsail and on both sides of the sail ("back to back"); c) Master: black equilateral triangle of 250 mm side (pyramid position like) on the top part of the mainsail and on both sides of the sail("back to back"). 6. COURSES Courses will done fleet race format. 7. SCORING SYSTEM 7.1. According to RRS ISAF, appendix A Low point-scoring system, will be applied. 7.2. (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from 5 to 8 races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. (c) When 9 or more races have been completed, a boat s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores. 7.3. For the Wooden Vaurien category the boat s score series will be calculated taking into account only the first two races per day. 8. TITLES AND PRIZES The following titles will be awarded: a) Vaurien World Champion 2014 for the overall winner. b) Vaurien Junior Champion 2014 (born after 31 December 1994). c) Vaurien Female Champion 2014. d) Vaurien Master Champion 2014. e) Wooden Vaurien Champion 2014. Prizes will be awarded for the first three places in each category. The prizes will be awarded according to the Vaurien World Championship Rules. 9. INTERNATIONAL JURY An International Jury will be appointed in accordance with RRS Appendix N. The decision of the Jury will be final in accordance with RRS 70.5. 10. PENALTY SYSTEM 10.1. Alternative penalties RRS rule 44.1 (720 turns) will apply. 10.2. RRS 42 (propulsion) will be judged on the water. 11. ADVERTISING 11.1. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority according to ISAF Appendix 20. 12. BERTHING 12.1. Boats shall be placed only inside the official area of the CDV club. 13. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors partecipate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
14. RIGHTS TO USE NAME AND LIKENESS Competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority, without payment, the right to make, use and show any text, motion pictures, video and still pictures, as well as live, taped or filmed television of, or relating to, the Championship. 15. CHARTERED OR LOANED BOATS For chartered or loaned boats rule G3 will apply. 16. SUPPORT BOATS The entry form for support boats must be filled in and signed by the coach of the national teams and be approved by the Organising Authority. Entry deadline is the July 27 2014. The team coach boats shall conspicuously display their national flag, and have to comply with the coach boat regulations as defined in the Sailing Instructions. They must have a third party liability insurance of 1,000,000 worth. When arriving in Marina di Grosseto, turn right toward Castiglione della Pescaia and take the first street on the left toward Marina di Grosseto. Go straight on until the sea. From south: take Grosseto Sud exit, pass through Grosseto and go toward Marina di Grosseto. Pass the traffic light of Marina di Grosseto go toward Castiglione della Pescaia.
