Club Captain s report: Good Evening Everyone, First event on the month was Captains day, which seems like a distant memory now, but thanks to all involved who helped make it a success. The course looked great and the golfers had an enjoyable round without any waiting and most groups were completed within 5hrs. Special thanks to Dave for hosting beat the pro, Bev Bates for the lend of her Gazebo, Emma and Paul for the mountains of meat they donated and to all the staff at the hotel who helped set up in the morning and ensured the food was ready when the golfers completed their rounds. I have paid the deposit for Captains away day at the Welcombe in Stratford and provisionally booked 6 tee times. Senior Gentlemen Captains Report: On Wednesday 1 st July we visited Farthingstone with a team of 6 pairs and had a drubbing losing 5 to 1. Very disappointing. Sunday 5 th July was Captains day and 15 seniors took part which was quite dismal as I had been promoting it for some time. The Senior Captains day winner was Ken Reay. A fabulous day was had and the organisation was first class as was the BBQ this year. Monday 6 th July I took a team of 12 to Puckrup Hall, near Tewkesbury and we unfortunately lost 4 to 2 however a super day was enjoyed by all. Now for something special as on Wednesday 15 th July we entertained Humberstone Heights at home and we won 6 to 0, another super meal was also enjoyed. Monday 20th July saw 22 seniors take part in the monthly Stableford which was won by Phil Bearyman with a total of 43 stableford points. He was cut down to a handicap of 17. Wednesday 22 nd July a senior s team of 12 took on Stonebridge at home with a win for the home side 3 1/2 to 2 1/2. Course was great and the meal was just fantastic with members of the opposition stating it was the best meal they had had in senior matches. On Monday 27th July we held the Barrie Thomas senior pairs competition with 30 seniors taking part and the winners were Ken Reay and Martin Alexander with a score of 41 points. However the first winners in were disqualified as one of the players was found not to have a current handicap. On Wednesday the 29 th July the final of the Midvale KO cup was held and the eventual winner was Steve Edwards beating Ken Reay 3 and 2 Finally on Friday 31st July probably the most difficult and arduous competition of the year took place for the Seniors, that being the Bogey Cup. It was won by someone who showed perfect resolve and a steady temperament to excel above all other 32 members who took part. The winner was Vic Drage. One person had a senior moment and forgot to put his name on the card and another entered but has not got a handicap yet. Vic Drage Green keepers report: n/a Handicap and Competition Committee Chair report: Joan Kearney handed out the minutes of the H & C meeting of 14/07 Executive Committee voted and agreed that Paul Wilcox to join the Handicap & Competitions Committee. Executive Committee also agreed that an additional representative from ladies Section could be sought as Joan Kearney now Chair. Dawn Gibbs had expressed an interest to join but it was agreed that the Lady Captain would put a notice up asking for nominations. Treasurer s Report Social Fund 2165.40 Charities Fund 2536.60 Avon League 665.87 Competition Fund n/a Ladies Account 1,635 Seniors Account 1,958.51

Constitution: Committee agreed updates to sections 7 to 9 in the meeting to be circulated by the Secretary Sections 1 to 6 have already been accepted. Social Update: Yellow ball competition will be held on August 21 st. Wear it pink Saturday 24 th October will be organised by ladies Section. Seniors to hold a separate competition on Friday 23 rd Lady Captain to meet with hotel management with regard to using meat left over from Captain s Day Any other business: Andy Duke brought to the Committee the recent issue of 2 balls in Men s Major. A 3 ball had been booked but one Member did not turn-up. It was agreed that under exceptional circumstances dispensation can be given to play in a 2 ball with approval sought from the Golf Club representative in the shop at that time. Handicap Chairman to also be notified of the occurrence post the game being played. Competition rules will need to be updated Andy Duke to write a guide for new procedure. Greg McBain commented on some 1 st round matches not being completed in the major knockout competition Danny to follow up, This was raised in the last H & c meeting with a suggestion that a deadline of end of July for 1 st and 2 nd rounds to be completed by. Greg also asked if a points system could be introduced to encourage new members Danny commented that this was in place in some Clubs (staverton, Farthingstone, etc) but currently Whitefields does not have the systems in place to introduce this. Ladies results were handed to Danny for website. The meeting closed at 20.39 NOTE: The next meeting to be HELD ON TUESDAY the 1 st September 2015 Now postponed to Tuesday 8 th at 7pm
