Competition Rules All competition rules as established by the World Taekwondo Federation Poomse (Forms) - Taegeuks Only Gyroogi (Sparring) - Olympic Sparring Age # of Rounds Time Per Round Rest Period 11 & Under All Belts 3 60 30 12 & Over Color Belts 3 60 30 12 & Over Black Belts 3 90 30 Division Rules Age 4-11, all belts Junior Age 12-17, color belts Modified Junior Rules Age 12-17, black belts Adult Rules Age 18 & Above Adult Rules Junior Safety Rules For all competitors ages 4-11 there will be light contact allowed to the face or head from kicks. No punching will be allowed to the face or head. Decisions will be awarded according to WTF Rules. Color belt competitors ages 12-17 will use the junior safety rules where kicking to the face and head are encouraged. Legal kick techniques to the face and head, executed with control, will be scored as 2 points. Any competitor that kicks an opponent s face or head hard enough to cause bleeding or injury will be disqualified. It will be the judgment of the center referee alone as to whether a technique to the face or head should be counted as a point, a deduction, or a disqualification. Added this year, all 18 years old and above will follow Adult Rules. Adult Safety Rules All black belts age 12-17 will fight under adult rules, which is full contact to the body and full contact to the head. Atlanta Open Taekwondo Championships will run like the Junior Olympics with a holding area. Pre-registration is recommended. Divisions Both sparring and form competitions will be broken up by both age and belt rank into the following divisions: Age Divisions 14-17 8-9 12-13 6-7 10-11 5 and Under 18 & Above Belt Divisions Black Red Blue & Green/Purple White & Yellow
General Information This event is hosted by Master Pius Martial Arts, a member of the World Taekwondo Federation. Competition Events Poomse (Taegeuk forms & Palgwe forms only) Gyroogi (Sparring) Awards Trophies will be awarded to 1st place winners in sparring Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners in forms Outstanding School & Individual Awards will be presented. Eligibility All competitors must be a member of a well-established, certified WTF Taekwondo or martial arts school or club with certified WTF instructors. Equipment The following WTF regulation equipment is required for all competitors: A white, clean uniform White shin, instep, and forearm protectors Mouthpiece Groin protector worn under the uniform (males only) Reversible red / blue WTF style chest protector WTF approved headgear WTF approved gloves are permitted, but not required. Weigh-in & Registration Registration and weigh-in will take place on Saturday, August 15th, 2015 9AM to 10AM in the Alpharetta High School Gym. All black belt sparring competitors must be weighed-in to be eligible for sparring.
