Emergency Overview Route(s) of Entry: Inhalation? Yes, Skin? Yes, Eyes? Yes, Ingestion? Yes Potential Health Effects (Acute and Chronic) Carcinogenicity: NTP?, IARC Monographs?, OSHA Regulated? Carcinogenicity/Other Information A 2-year bioassay of technical Piperonyl Butoxide for possible carcinogenicity was conducted by administering dietary levels of 5,000 and 10,000 ppm to rats and mice. In the female rats, lymphomas occurred at incidences that were dose related. In the male mice, adenomas of the lacrimal gland occurred at incidences that were dose related but were not significantly higher than that in the control group. Thus, the occurrence of this tumor in the male mice was not clearly related to the administration of Piperonyl Butoxide. Recommended Exposure Limits Pyrethrins=5 mg/m3 Iso alcohol=400ppm LD 50 / LC 50 LD50(rat):5.3g/kg (rabbit):>2.0g/kg Signs and Symptoms Of Exposure Symptoms associated with allergies, hayfever, i.e., itchy, runny eyes, stuffy/runny nose, chest discomfort, possible hives. In addition, alcohol may cause ataxia and dizziness. Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated By Exposure SECTION 4. First Aid Measures Emergency and First Aid Procedures IF IN EYES: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water. Get medical attention, if irritation persists. IF ON SKIN: Immediately wash skin with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing. Get medical attention if symptoms occur. Wash clothing before reuse. IF INGESTED: Call a physician or Poison Control Center. Drink 1 or 2 glasses or water and induce vomiting by touching back of throat with finger. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Avoid Alcohol. IF INHALED: Remove to fresh air. Consult a physician in cases of breathing difficulty. Note to Physician SECTION 5. Fire Fighting Measures Flash Pt: 56.00 F Method Used: TCC Explosive Limits: LEL: No data. UEL: No data. Extinguishing Media Dry chemical and foam. Carbon dioxide and water spray may be ineffective. Fire Fighting Instructions As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH approved or equivalent and full protective gear. Flammable Properties and Hazards Flammable Liquid. Isopropanol Can release vapors that form explosive mixtures at temperatures at or above the

flashpoint. Hazardous Combustion Products SECTION 6. Accidental Release Measures Steps To Be Taken In Case Material Is Released Or Spilled Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. dry sand, clay granules, sawdust, or earth), then place in a chemical waste container. SECTION 7. Handling and Storage Hazard Label Information: Causes skin irritation. Use chemical splash goggles and face Mechanical shock. Precautions To Be Taken in Handling Do not apply directly to water. Do not apply where runoff is likely to occur. Do not apply to painted or finished wood surfaces. Precautions To Be Taken in Storing Other Precautions Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. Avoid breathing vapors. Causes substantial but temporary eye injury. Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes. Avoid treatment of nursing puppies and foals under 6 weeks of age unless prescribed by a veterinarian. Respiratory Equipment (Specify Type) Use only with adequate ventilation. Eye Protection Goggles, face shield, safety glasses Protective Gloves Rubber or neoprene gloves Other Protective Clothing Clothes to prevent skin contact Engineering Controls (Ventilation etc.) Use only with adequate ventilation. SECTION 8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection Work/Hygienic/Maintenance Practices Eye wash stations should be available. Wash hands before eating, smoking, or using restroom.
