300 WOMEN S NATIONAL COLLEGIATE/DIVISION I Summary NATIONAL COLLEGIATE/DIVISION I 2001-02 Championships Highlights Photo by Jamie Schwaberow/NCAA Photos Stanford won three team titles to widen its lead as the top producer of Division I women s team championships. The Cardinal won their 12th swimming and fifth volleyball crowns and captured their first water polo championship. No other team won more than one team championship but five won their first women s team title of any kind. These schools included Auburn (swimming), California (softball), Michigan (field hockey), Santa Clara (soccer) and South Carolina (outdoor track and field). In individual championships, UCLA led the way with 11 in four different sports. Stanford finished with eight to increase its leading total to 146. Three schools won individual titles for the first time, Wake Forest (tennis), Liberty (indoor track) and UMBC (indoor track).
