Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant Requirements 1. Be age nineteen (19) by the first day of the State Pageant and not over twenty-five (25) by January 1 of the following year. 2. Be a legal resident of the state of Texas for a minimum of one (1) year and have a valid Texas driver s license or identification card. 3. Have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent of high school education. 4. Be a student in good standing, if enrolled in college. 5. Not been married or nullified a marriage. 6. Not be, nor have been pregnant. 7. Not been charged or convicted of a felony or misdemeanor. 8. Not been a prior contestant at the Miss Rodeo America Pageant. 9. Not be a current state or national title holder of any other pageant (Ex. Miss Texas High School Rodeo, Miss Rodeo, etc ) 10. Have executed all consents, waivers and/or agreements presented as conditions precedent to competition. 11. Be representing a local pageant or local sponsor. (No commercial entries are allowed; example Miss Rodeo Smith Western Wear. You can create a title from a local sponsor; example - Miss Rodeo Rockin R Ranch) 12. Abide by all rules and regulations of the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant. 13. Have not been disqualified or had the title forfeited in the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant. 14. All contestants are required to stay at the host hotel. The cost of contestant lodging is included in the entry fee. 15. All contestants will be assigned to a chaperone and must stay with the chaperone, unless otherwise notified. Contestants may visit with parents during

designated visitation time only. During judging and when you are with your chaperone, please refrain from visiting with your parents. Remember to bring what clothes you need as you cannot be running back and forth to your parents rooms to pick up things that you forgot. All cleaning, messages, etc. have to be channeled through the head chaperones room. The chaperones will have a contestant hospitality room set up for the Miss and Teen contestants. They will provide drinks and snacks for you (they will not take special request from contestants.) You are also allowed to bring drinks and snacks and keep them in your contestant room. Contestants are REQUIRED to stay under the supervision of the pageant chaperones until released by the pageant the morning after coronation. Any contestant that leaves without permission will forfeit all awards and their right to participate in the pageant in the future. All this will be discussed at length during orientation. 16. Parents are more than welcome to stay at the host hotel; however, the rooms will go fast and we suggest that you make your reservations early. To receive the negotiated rate, please inform the hotel that you will be there for the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant. 17. Contestants must register in the lobby of the hotel at the designated time on the pageant schedule. 18. Parents are urged to attend all Open functions, such as breakfasts and luncheons that are posted. Tickets may be purchased online and after orientation on the first day of the pageant in the Parent Hospitality Room. All tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours before the event. The location of the Parent Hospitality Room will be announced at orientation. Note: Any contestant not meeting the qualifications set forth above, shall be denied the right to compete in the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant.

Judging 1. Horsemanship: All horses and tack will be provided for the horsemanship competition. Each contestant will draw two horses to ride; one for the pattern furnished by the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant and one for a rail work (western pleasure style) class. No one will be allowed to ride the same horse. The use of spurs is not allowed. Judges will answer any questions prior to the start of the Horsemanship competition. See pattern. 2. Speech: Each contestant is required to give an extemporaneous speech. Contestants will be sequestered in order to not give away the speech topics. Each contestant will select ONE of three topics and have three (3) minutes to prepare and one and a half (1.5) minutes to present the speech. Judging is based on content, delivery and the time allotted for the presentation. 3. Interviews : Personal interviews will last 10 minutes. Miss contestants will also participate in a group interview. 4. Impromptu Questions: Impromptu questions will be asked of each contestant during pageant functions. Questions may relate to the sport of rodeo, current events, personality, appearance, and/or basic horsemanship. 5. Media Interview: Miss contestants will be tape recorded in a media interview style (ex. Kadee Coffman interviewing cowboys for the CBS Sports Network at the Wrangler National Rodeo Finals). They will have one and a half (1.5) minutes to answer questions. The interview will be scored by the judges. 6. Modeling: Contestants will model a variety of fashions, as well as their own dress, at the Fashion Show. 7. Photogenic: Three (3) to Four (4) photos of each girl will be taken by the official pageant photographer (time TBD) then judged for the Photogenic Award.

Dress Code General Dress Code: Sleeve Length: All sleeves must be full length. No Short or ¾ sleeved dresses, jackets or blouses allowed. This rule is to align with the PRCA arena sleeve length rule and applies the entire pageant. Dress/Skirt Length: Dresses and skirts must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Crown: If a contestant has a crown for the title she is representing at the pageant, she should wear the crown for competition. Banner: All contestants must wear a Title Banner, which the contestant must furnish. Sash must be white satin with black embroidered letters. The banners must be 4 inches wide and 30 inches long and purchased from Archer Monograms, P.O. Box 1701, Twin Falls, ID 83301. Be sure to tell them it is for the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant so they will use the correct lettering and set-up. Your check or money order must accompany the order. Please allow four (4) weeks for delivery. Belt : All outfits must include a belt. Cowboy Hat: All outfits must include a cowboy hat. Your hat should be clean and well shaped. Cowboy Boots: All outfits must include cowboy boots. Your boots should be clean and polished. * * Judges will deduct points if any of the dress code rules are broken.

Dress Code by Event: Check In/Orientation: Wrangler button up shirt. You may not add any embellishments or embroidery to the shirt. You are allowed to dye the shirt if you would like or you can buy a Wrangler shirt off the rack and wear it as is. No vests or jackets are permitted. Wrangler pants product. Horsemanship: Wrangler pant product with a fitted blouse. No vests, jackets or chaps are permitted. You are allowed two dresses. (The chaperones will check the number of dresses you have at check in when you move into your contestant room). You will have to wear one dress twice. It is up to you as to what dress you would like to wear twice and at what two events. Fashion Show: Dress or skirt with blouse and/or jacket. Before you model your pageant dress you will model outfits from designers. The Fashion Show committee will select the outfits from the designers for you based on the sizes you list on your application (please be truthful). You will receive an email with additional details of what you should bring to model with the outfits provided by the designers closer to the pageant. Petroleum Club Fiesta: Dress or skirt with blouse and/or jacket. Coronation: Dress or skirt with blouse and/or jacket. Dance Practice Rehearsal: You may want to pack 1-3 Wrangler button up shirts for dance practice. In Between events you will have dance practice. Dance practice times are TBD. You may have time to change or you may have to wear what you were wearing at the previous event. Coronation Dance Routine: Will be provided by the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant. Should there be any additional clothing items needed for the dance routine, an email will be sent to the contestants prior to the pageant.

Interview/Group Interview: Wrangler pant product with a blouse and/or jacket or vest. You can wear two different outfits for your personal interview and group interview or you can wear the same outfit. Media Interview: The time for the Media Interview is TBD. You do not need a special outfit for this. Contestants will wear the outfit that they were wearing at the previous event. All other functions not listed above (Breakfast and Lunch events): Wrangler pant product with blouse and/or jacket or vest. *There are occasions to wear multiple dresses or skirts with blouses and/or jackets. Please know that the same outfit may be worn more than once without being penalized by the judges. Note: Wrangler pant product refers to any fabric or style of pant, jean, or slack that is manufactured by Wrangler.

Entry Requirements - Postmark Deadline May 1, 2018 Mail your application and all supporting documents to Miss Rodeo Texas PO Box 277 Menard, TX 76859. Entries postmarked after the deadline or incomplete will be ineligible to compete. Entries must include the following: 1. Submit a complete and notarized application. Please don t change, add, or deviate the official application. 2. Pay a $500.00 entry fee. The entry fee includes the contestant s hotel room (starting on the first day of the pageant and checking out the morning after coronation) and meals during the pageant. The entry fee also includes publishing the contestant s picture and bio in the program book. 4. Submit eight 5x7 vertical head and shoulder photographs of the same pose using a plain background. Picture must include hat. A crown should be worn if you received one for your title. You should not wear your banner. Your name, age division, age, title, and address, must be typed on a label and placed on the back of all photographs. All photographs become the property of the Miss Rodeo Texas Pageant and WILL NOT be returned to the contestant. 5. Submit the same photo as above electronically to Devin Sisk at Devin@devinsiskphotography.com for the program book. The photo should be formatted as a 5x7, 300 dpi, jpeg file. 6. Sell a minimum of two (2) pages in advertisements for the official pageant program and turn in by the specified deadline. The contestant shall receive 20% back on any amount sold over the required two (2) pages. Please see program ad guidelines for more information. 7. Send proof of residency. (i.e. copy of driver s license or school ID) 8. Send proof of age. (i.e. copy of birth certificate or driver s license) 9. Send the latest copy of a school transcript.
