Campus Safety Clery Act Public Crime Log From 10/1/2013 To 10/31/2013 : BOLT 10/1/2013 1010 Incident Occurred Between: 9/23/2013 0000 and 9/26/2013 2300 Case #: 2013-211 REFERRED TO GRAND RAPIDS Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack outside of Bolt Hall. The bike, a blue 21 speed Haro flight Line, was locked up at the time of the theft. The bike also had a Calvin bike permit on it. The bike was stolen sometime between 9-23 and 9-26-13. : COMMONS ANNEX 10/1/2013 130 Case #: 2013-213 Incident Occurred Between: 10/1/2013 1130 and 10/1/2013 1430 CLOSED-ITEM FOUND Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a bicycle, a blue seven speed mountain bike from the bike rack outside of the Commons Annex. The owner didn't know the make or model of the bike, and it was not registered with Campus Safety. LARCENY/THEFT : THEFT FROM BUILDING : SPOELHOF FIELDHOUSE COMPLEX : VENEMA AQUATIC CENTER 10/3/2013 0930 Case #: 2013-21 Incident Occurred Between: 9/30/2013 1200 and 9/30/2013 124 Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of money from an unlocked locker in the men's locker room in the Venema Aquatic Center. The victim stated the money was removed from their wallet, which was in their pants in the locker. No other items were reported stolen. There were no known witnesses and no suspect description was available for the incident. : SPOELHOF FIELDHOUSE COMPLEX 10/4/2013 1430 Case #: 2013-217 Incident Occurred Between: 10/3/2013 1030 and 10/4/2013 1230 Campus Safety took a report of an attempted larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack outside of the Venema Aquatic Center. The victim said they ran their bike lock through a tire and the frame of their bike rather than locking it to the bike rack. When an unknown subject attempted to ride the bike away, the wheel was damaged by the chain and the bike was subsequently abandoned. : NORTH HALL 10/4/2013 1600 Case #: 2013-218 Incident Occurred Between: 10/4/2013 1330 and 10/4/2013 1430 CLOSED-ITEM FOUND Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a larceny of a unlocked bicycle from the bike rack outside North Hall. The student said they didn't lock up the bike because the bike rack was full. A Campus Safety officer later found the bike in the bike rack near the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex. LARCENY/THEFT : BICYCLE : VAN REKEN 10/4/2013 17 Case #: 2013-219 Incident Occurred Between: 10/2/2013 1800 and 10/4/2013 07 Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack outside of van Reken Hall. The bike, a white, gray and pink Trek mountain bike was locked to its self at the time of the theft. The bike had been registered with the Campus Safety Department. The victim was also encouraged to also report the theft to the Grand Rapids Police Department. LARCENY OF PARTS AND ACCESORIES FROM VEHICLE : PARKING LOT : LOT 19 10/6/2013 000 Case #: 2013-221 Incident Occurred Between: 10/1/2013 2140 and 10//2013 1430 A student reported to Campus Safety that someone had tampered with the lug nuts on the wheels of their vehicle which had been parked in the lower Knollcrest East parking lot (lot 19). The lug nuts on one of the wheels had been removed and the lug nuts on the other wheels had been loosened. The vehicle subsequently lost a tire when the student was driving it on the East Beltline. There were no known suspects or witnesses to the vehicle being tampered with. : VAN REKEN 10/8/2013 131 Incident Occurred Between: 10/4/2013 2230 and 10/6/2013 1200 Case #: 2013-224 REFERRED TO GRAND RAPIDS Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack outside of Van reken Residence Hall. The bike was a blue Trek 600 Mountain Bike. The bike was locked up at the time of the theft and it was registered with Campus Safety. The victim also reported the theft to the Grand Rapids Police Department. : VANDERWERP 10/8/2013 1926 Case #: 2013-226 Incident Occurred Between: 10/6/2013 2300 and 10/7/2013 0800 Campus Safety took an e-mailed report of a larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack outside of Vanderwerp Residence Hall. A student said their silver and blue Pacific Flash bicycle had been stolen. The bicycle which was not locked up at the time of the theft, was registered with Campus Safety. : SCIENCE BUILDING 10/9/2013 1008 Case #: 2013-22 Incident Occurred Between: 10/8/2013 1900 and 10/8/2013 2130 CLOSED-BICYCLE LOCATED Campus Safety took a report of the larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack to the west of the Science Building Complex. The bicycle was a red and white HARO VGF-V2. The bicycle was locked up at the time of its theft. Additionally the bike had been registered with the Campus Safety Department. The victim also filed a stolen bike report with the Grand Rapids Police Department. : SPOELHOF FIELDHOUSE COMPLEX : VAN NOORD ARENA 10/9/2013 2218 Case #: 2013-228 Incident Occurred Between: 10/7/2013 0001 and 10/7/2013 239 Campus Safety took a report of the larceny of a bicycle from outside the north entrance to the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex. The bicycle is a white and blue Giant Cypress. The bicycle was registered with Campus Safety. The victim believed the bicycle was locked up at the time of the theft. The victim also filed a stolen bike report with the Grand Rapids Police Department 2 of

: VANDELLEN 10/13/2013 1421 Case #: 2013-231 Incident Occurred Between: 10/7/2013 0001 and 10/13/2013 1400 Campus Safety took a report of an attempted larceny of a bicycle from the bike rack north of VanDellen Hall. The victim said an unknown person attempted to cut their cable lock, damaging the cable but not cutting all the way through it. The victim has since moved their bicycle to the bike storage room in Rooks VanDellen. SUSPICIOUS SITUATION : HIEMENGA HALL 10/13/2013 217 Case #: 2013-230 Incident Occurred Between: 10/13/2013 214 and UNKNOWN Campus Safety employees were called to investigate a suspicous condition at the smoker's pit outside of Hiemenga Hall. Students passed a group of people who were smoking what they believed to be marijuana. When officers arrived on scene, the smokers had already left the area. There was an odor of burnt marijuana in the air, but no other evidence was discovered. VANDALISM 10/14/2013 104 Case #: 2013-232 Incident Occurred Between: 10/9/2013 0001 and 10/11/2013 1400 A Campus Safety employee observed that a Calvin College sign located on the west side of south bound East Beltline had been vandalized. This is the third time in the past three months that this sign has been vandalized. There were no known suspects or witnesses to the sign being damaged. : VAN REKEN 10/14/2013 1200 Case #: 2013-233 Incident Occurred Between: 9/30/2013 0001 and 10/14/2013 1200 Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a brown Trek 2.7 FX bicycle from the vanreken bike rack sometime between September 30 and October 14. The bike was locked at the time of the theft and it had been registered with the Campus Safety Department. The theft was also reported to the Grand Rapids Police Department. DAMAGE TO PROPERTY 10/21/2013 0800 Case #: 2013-237 Incident Occurred Between: UNKNOWN and 10/21/2013 030 Campus Safety is investigating the damage of a college owned vehicle, casued by an unknown source that left green paint on the vehicle. It was unknown where or when the vehicle had been struck. : PARKING LOT 10/24/2013 173 Incident Occurred Between: 10/24/2013 1 and 10/24/2013 16 Case #: 2013-242 REFERRED TO GRAND RAPIDS Campus Safety took a report of a larceny from a vehicle. The incident occurred in the parking lot adjacent to the Bunker Interpretive Center. Unknown subjects in possibly a blue Chevrolet Suburban were alleged to have broken out a vehicle window and stole a wallet and iphone from the vehicle's center console. This incident was also reported to the Grand Rapids Police Department. 3 of

: PARKING LOT : LOT 1 10/24/2013 1823 Incident Occurred Between: 10/24/2013 1400 and 10/24/2013 1823 Case #: 2013-243 REFERRED TO GRAND RAPIDS Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a vehicle in the southwest parking lot (lot 1). Unknown suspects in possibly a blue Chevrolet Suburban broke out the driver's side window and stole a purse and its contents from the vehicle. The incident was also reported to the Grand Rapids Police Department for follow-up investigation. This incident was one of two vehicle larcenies that occurred on campus in a short period of time. INVESTIGATION - COLLEGE RULE VIOL : NOORDEWIER 10/2/2013 214 Case #: 2013-24 Incident Occurred Between: 10/2/2013 2030 and 10/2/2013 2100 CLOSED Campus Safety was asked to assist Residence Life staff with the investigation of a possible violation of the student conduct code. Contact was made with the students who were suspected of being under the influence of an unknown substance. It was determined that their behavior was not the result of being under the influence of any substance. LARCENY/THEFT : ALL OTHER LARCENY : COVENANT FINE ARTS CENTER 10/28/2013 1323 Case #: 2013-249 Incident Occurred Between: 10/26/2013 2000 and 10/27/2013 0130 Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a cell phone. A student had lost their wallet in the Covenant Fine Arts Center. The wallet was subsequently turned into Campus Safety. The owner of the wallet was contacted to come pick up the wallet. When the student came to Campus Safety they discovered their phone was no longer in the wallet. It was unknown who was in possession of the phone or when it was taken from the wallet. : PARKING LOT : LOT 6 10/28/2013 130 Incident Occurred Between: 10/17/2013 1600 and 10/17/2013 1700 Case #: 2013-247 REFERRED TO GRAND RAPIDS Campus Safety took a report of a larceny of a wallet from their unlocked vehicle in the west Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex parking lot (lot 6). The victim indicated the theft had occurred on October 17, but they were just reporting the incident on October 28. The victim indicated they were alerted to the theft when their credit card company called to check on some suspicious transactions. In addition to reporting the incident to Campus Safety, the victim was advised to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department and make a report. : PARKING LOT 10/29/2013 1708 Case #: 2013-20 Incident Occurred Between: 10/29/2013 1300 and 10/29/2013 1708 Campus Safety took a report of a larceny from a vehicle in the west parking lot (lot 3) where the driver's side window was smashed out and a purse was stolen. The Grand Rapids Police were also contacted and responded to the scene to take a report. The vehicle was also processed for finger prints. 4 of

: PARKING LOT : LOT 6 10/29/2013 171 Case #: 2013-21 Incident Occurred Between: 10/29/2013 1703 and 10/29/2013 1720 Campus Safety took a report of a larceny from a vehicle in the west Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex parking lot (lot #6) where the rear passenger side window was smashed out and a purse was stolen from the back seat. The Grand Rapids Police were also contacted and responded to the scene to take a report. The vehicle was also processed for finger prints. This was the second of two reported vehicle breaking and enterings reported between :08 and :1 p.m. VANDALISM 10/31/2013 2320 Case #: 2013-23 Incident Occurred Between: 10/31/2013 210 and UNKNOWN UNDER INVESTIGATION A Campus Safety officer observed the Calvin College sign located on the west side of the East Beltline; closest to the south bound lanes, had been vandalized. Five unknown college age white males were observed damaging the sign with sledge hammers. The suspects fled west from the sign towards the KHvR parking lot (lot 8). This is the fourth time in two months the sign has been vandalized. of
