SAIT Recreatin Outdr Sccer Rules General Rules: (Mdified frm FIFA) Fr warm up, teams may play with a different ball ther than the ne prvided. Games are tw (20) minute halves with a 5 minute half time break. Games that start late must finish n time. Halves may be shrtened t accmmdate the scheduled end time. N extra time added. All players must have an nline waiver thrugh IMLeagues signed a minimum f 24 hurs prir t their first game. All players must present their student ID t the Field Supervisr each game. Substitutins take place in the area directly in frnt f the team s bench and can be dne at any time, n the fly. A substitute may nt enter the playing surface until the player being substituted is within 5 feet f his/her team s bench. The substitute may nt play the ball until the player being replaced has cmpletely left the playing surface. Suspended players may nt be present during scheduled games, if s, the entire team shall be suspended indefinitely. Intramural Sprts has a Zer-Tlerance plicy fr fighting and abuse f staff and ther intramural participants. This will be strictly enfrced. Mercy Rule f 8 gal spread is in effect. Each team must meet the fllwing tw requirements at all time during the game. A default will be recrded as a 3-0 lss. Maximum: 5 players n the field plus a galie (6) Minimum: 4 players plus a galie (5) players n the field t nt default. Playffs: T be eligible fr playffs a player must have played in at least ne regular seasn game and be n the team rster with an nline waiver signed. Teams are t have a fair play rating f 3. In the final playff game, if the scre is tied at the end f regulatin time, teams will g int straight sht ut. Prcedure fr kicks frm the penalty mark: Bth teams take three kicks, alternating teams at each kick. If, befre bth teams have taken three kicks, ne has scred mre gals than the ther culd scre, n mre kicks are taken. If the scre is tied after each team has taken three kicks, kicks cntinue t be taken in a sudden death frmat. Each kick is taken by a different player and all eligible players must take a kick befre any player can take a secnd. Ties: Ties will nt be brken in regular seasn games. If a playff game is tied at the end f regular time, teams will g directly int sht ut. The teams will sht a set f three (3) penalty shts. The shts must be taken by three (3) different players. If the game remains tied, the teams will
sht sets f sudden death penalty shts until the tie is brken. Any ther players can sht set f sudden death penalty shts. Attire: A player shall nt wear anything which is dangerus t anther player r himself/herself. This includes rings, watches, bracelets, hats, etc. Players are nt allwed t wear metal cleats, rings, watches, bracelets, hats (except galkeepers), r anything else that is dangerus t anyne n the field (in referee s discretin). It is strngly recmmended that players wear shin guards, and the shin guards must be fully cvered by scks. Bundaries: The ball is ut f play when it has fully crssed the line, whether n the grund r in the air. A kick-in will be used t restart play when the ball crsses the bundary lines n either side f the playing surface. Kick-in prcedure: The kick - in is awarded t the team wh did nt tuch the ball last. The ball is placed n the bundary line where it left the playing surface. The ball is in play nce it is kicked and mves. The kicker may nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched by anther player. All ppnents remain 5 feet frm the ball until it is in play. A gal may nt be scred directly frm a kick-in. A gal kick will be used t restart play when the ball crsses the bundary lines at either end f the playing surface, last tuched by a player f the attacking team. Gal kick prcedure: The gal kick is awarded t the defending team. The ball is placed within the penalty area. The ball is in play nce it is kicked directly beynd the penalty area. The kicker may nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched by anther player. All ppnents remain 5 feet frm the ball until it is in play. A gal may nt be scred directly frm a gal kick. A crner kick will be used t restart play when the ball crsses the bundary lines at either end f the playing surface, last tuched by a player f the defending team. Crner kick prcedure: The crner kick is awarded t the attacking team. The ball is placed n the crner f the playing surface. The ball is in play nce it has been kicked and mves. The kicker may nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched by anther player. All ppnents remain 5 feet frm the ball until it is in play. A gal may nt be scred directly frm a crner kick. Playing Rules: Games will cnsist f tw (2) twenty (20) minute halves, with a five (5) minute break between halves. Teams switch ends at halftime. Games starting late shall finish at the scheduled time. Kick ff prcedure: The ball is placed at the centre line. Each team is n their wn half. The referee will blw the whistle t begin play. The ball is in play when it is kicked by a member f the attacking team in any directin. The players f the defending team will remain 5 feet away frm the ball until it is in play. The kicker cannt play the ball again until it has been tuched by anther player. The hme team will kick-ff in the first half (hme team is listed n the scre sheet). The visiting team will kick-ff in the secnd half.

An autmatic yellw card will be issued. Fuls & Miscnducts: A ful r miscnduct cmmitted utside the penalty area will result in a free kick awarded t the nn-ffending team. Free kick prcedure: Ball is placed where the ful ccurred. The ball is in play when it is kicked and mved. The kicker may nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched by anther player. All ppnents remain 5 feet frm the ball until it is in play. A gal may nt be scred directly frm a free kick. A ful cmmitted by a player f the defending team within his/her wn penalty area will result in a penalty kick awarded t the nn-ffending team. Penalty kick prcedure: The ball is placed at the penalty kick spt, equal distant frm the galpsts. The kicker is identified. The galkeeper must remain n the gal line facing the field f play until the ball has been played. All ther players must remain behind the ball and 5 feet away frm it until the ball has been played. The referee will blw the whistle t initiate the penalty kick. The ball is in play nce it has been kicked and mves. The kicker may nt play the ball a secnd time until it has been tuched by anther player. A gal may be scred directly frm a penalty kick. Penalty Cards: Cards will be issued t implement disciplinary sanctins. Blue card- used t cmmunicate that a player has received a 2- minute minr miscnduct time penalty Yellw card- used t cmmunicate a player has received a duble minr miscnduct time penalty. The penalty: Team will serve a 5 min. penalty Red card- Used t cmmunicate a player has been sent ff. The penalty: Is assessed as a minute majr penalty t his team except a secnd cautin in the same match. Tw yellw cards thrughut the seasn and play-ffs will result in an autmatic ne-game suspensin. A third yellw card will be anther ne-game suspensin, and each subsequent cautin will result in anther ne-game suspensin. A red card will result in an autmatic ne-game suspensin f the player and frm further play in Intramurals sccer until incident is reviewed by the Intramural Crdinatr. The player receiving the Red Card MUST submit a written appeal fr reinstatement at the Intramural Office befre the Intramural Crdinatr will review and rule n the incident. Therefre the player is suspended indefinitely until such time as this appeal is filed and ruled upn. Players wh fail t submit their appeal fr reinstatement within 48 hurs will be further suspended frm ALL intramural activities until they chse t file fr reinstatement. Offsides
Offside: If an attacking player is behind the last defender at the time f the kick/pass t that player, they shall be called ffside. The ffside rule des nt apply if the ball cmes ff a crner kick, is deflected r last tuched by a defender, r the receiving player is in their wn half f the field. A player is in an ffside psitin if the player: is clser t the ppnent s gal line than the ball unless the player is n his wn side f the field at least ne ppsing player are clser t the gal line than the player if at the mment the ball tuches r is played by a team member the Official believes the player: t be interfering with the play r an ppnent, t be seeking t gain an advantage by being in that psitin When a player is declared ffside, the ppsite team will be awarded an indirect kick where the infringement ccurred. Fuls and Miscnduct ALL fuls and miscnducts will be indirect Majr ffenses: Kicking r attempting t kick an ppnent Tripping an ppnent Jumping at an ppnent Charging an ppnent in a vilent r dangerus manner Charging an ppnent frm behind, unless the ppnent is bstructing Charging the galkeeper while in the penalty area Striking r attempting t strike an ppnent Hlding r Pushing an ppnent Handling the ball i.e. carrying, striking r prpelling the ball with the hands r arms, with the exceptin f the galkeeper while in the penalty area Slide tackling frm behind. The galkeeper intentinally thrwing at r striking an ppnent with the ball Minr ffenses: Play deemed unfair r dangerus by the Referee Charging fairly withut intent t play the ball Intentinally bstructing an ppnent with the ball A player playing the ball a secnd time nce it has immediately been put int play, befre it has been played by anther player. Frm the mment the galkeeper takes pssessin f the ball, the galkeeper may take nly 4 steps while handling the ball. Having had pssessin f the ball and releasing it int play, the galkeeper may nt handle the ball until it has been played by an ppnent r a team member utside the penalty area. The galkeeper cannt tuch the ball with his hands after it has been deliberately kicked t him by a teammate r after he has received it directly frm a thrw-in taken by a teammate.
