Fall Youth Sports/Programs YMCA Redmen Flag Football League The Fostoria Redmen Football program is partnering with the Y for our youth flag football program by teaching the fundamentals of football. All coaches will need to be NAYS certified to coach our youth program, (see Greg Flores for details). This football League is for boys and girls in 2 nd -6 th grades, from any local area school, wanting to get some gridiron action. Skills day will be held after registration at the Lester W. Fruth Outdoor Center on September 10th to test the skills of those participating to divide teams equally. The 2 nd & 3 rd graders time is from 10:00am-11:00am, 4 th -6 th graders are from 11:30am-12:30pm. * This Skills day is mandatory for all youth participants, missing skills day forfeits eligibility to play. A mandatory coach s orientation will be held prior to skills day at the Fruth Outdoor Center at 9:00am on September 10 th. Coaches must attend orientation to be eligible to coach. Parents orientation will be held during skills day September 10 th (during child s skill session). Games will be played on Saturdays at either the Lester W. Fruth Outdoor Center or the FHS Auxiliary field from September 24th-October 22nd. All players are required to wear a mouth guard during play and rubber cleats are ok. (No metal cleats) REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY September 9 th Fee: Y Members: $27.00, $5.00 discount per additional child in same family Nonmembers: $47.00, $5.00 discount per additional child in same family All participants will receive a jersey with paid registration! Mini Flag Football Mini Flag Football is designed for both boys and girls in K-1 st grades wanting to get a taste of the game. All parent information will be available on-line. We will play 7 on 7 or an appropriate number based on registrations. This is just a fun league to stay active as the outdoors sports start to dwindle. Who plays: Boys and Girls in 2nd 6 th grade. If there are enough girl s teams will be split accordingly. If not they will be mixed. Teams will be split 2-3 and 4-6 grades When do you play: November 5th will be the 1 st practice. All games will be played at the YMCA. Games will begin on November 12th and run through December 10th. What do you need to play: The YMCA will provide all the equipment, gloves not required. GYMNASTICS Fall Session Youth Special Interest NEW INSTRUCTOR Haley Burdick has 10+ years in gymnastics and tumbling experience and cheered for her high school and college cheerleading squads. As an adult she's taught gymnastics, tumbling and cheerleading for over 3 years and has lead group classes and done one on one instruction for students of all ages. Youth Special Interest Y-Cheer Cheerleading for kid ages 4-12. This is for children who wish to learn the basics of cheerleading along with some jumps, chants and cheers. Practices will be held at the discretion of the coach Haley Burdick who is the new Saint Wendelin Cheer coach. The kids will cheer at the YMCA-Redmen Flag Football league & Soccer games held on Saturday mornings at the Fruth Outdoor Center or the FHS auxiliary football field. Each child will receive a cheerleading t-shirt. The First practice will be determined by the coach. The cheering will be Saturday, September 24th. Registration deadline: September 10 th Fee: Y members $22, Non-members $40 Instructor: Haley Burdick New Saint Wendelin Cheerleading Coach Little Ninja This is a program for kids 4-6 yrs of age. The class consists of concentrating on teaching skills including balance, focus, teamwork, control, memory, discipline, fitness and coordination. It is a fun workout for the students. They learn to punch and kick but NEVER at each other. Safety tips, such as what to do if approached by a stranger are also incorporated. Students are awarded belts and stripes as they master their skills. The program instructor is John Paxton, a fourth degree black belt in Kempo Martial Arts. Uniforms may be purchased through Mr. Paxton but are optional. Fee: Y members $25.00, Non-members $35.00 Time: Tuesday 4:30pm-5:00pm Fun Day No school fun day for K-5 th graders. On Friday, November 25 th we will host a day where parents can drop the kids off at 9:00am and pick them up at 3:00pm. They will be kept busy with fun activities all day. Each child will need to bring a bathing suit and towel and a sack lunch. Fee: Y members $7.00; Non-members $15.00. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, November 23 rd. Space is limited. If we do have room and you register the day of Fun Day there will be a $5.00 late fee assessed. Teen Hang Time Youth in grades 5 th -8 th can enjoy a night at the Y hanging out with friends doing activities they enjoy the most. Swimming, volleyball, basketball, family fun center activities, movies and more are available. Hang time starts at 7:00pm and ends at 10:00pm sharp. Each teen will be asked to sign in and can not leave and re-enter. We do not provide locks and they are not permitted to be on cell phones anywhere in the Y except for the lobby. Fee: $5.00 Y members and $7.00 Non-members Date: Saturday, December 10 th

Youth Aquatics Y Swim Team We will have 4 days of free trial for those interested in joining swim team on Tue. Sep. 9 th & 16 th and Thu. Sep. 11 th & 18 th. This program is for kids ages 5-18 that can swim and want to be a part of a competitive team. The season runs Sep.-Mar. Each child swims in their own age division. Practice times for preview weeks are: New swimmers: Tue. & Thu. 5:15pm-6:00pm All ages, if previously on the team: Tue. & Thu. 6:00pm-7:00pm. We also have a parent s organization whose purpose is to help out at meets and do fund raising. We will be having a parent meeting on Thursday Sept. 18 th at 6:00pm to discuss fees, fill out paper work and update parents with any new materials. Pre-requisites: 1. Child must be able to swim length of the pool on their stomachs and back unassisted. 2. Child must be a YMCA member. Fee: $125.00 for 1 st child in a family and $110.00 for each additional child in the same family. Fees are due in full by Oct. 1 st *Scholarships are available if criteria are met. Regular season officially starts Mon. Sep. 22 nd. Practice times: New swimmers Tue & Thu. 5:15pm-6:00pm Returning swimmers: Mon., Tue, Thu, 6:00pm-7:00pm Everyone: Fri. 5:15pm-6:00pm Adapted Aquatics Swim Program The Y is offering swimming lessons for those with Autism and other special needs. We offer 1 on 1 lesson if needed. We have certified instructors to work with individuals at their own pace and learning ability. If interested please contact the Aquatic coordinator for times and fees.

YMCA Fall Family Harvest Party-Saturday Sep. 24 th Join us for our Fall Family Harvest Party at the Fruth Outdoor Center on St. Rt. 18 east of Fostoria from 6:00pm-9:00pm. We will be giving hayrides, walking in the woods, games, food and fellowship. Enjoy the night sky and a campfire without leaving town. The YMCA will provide hotdogs, chips, s mores and beverages as well as table service. Hope to see you there! If it happens to rain or is too muddy we will hold the party at the YMCA the same hours and will still have a lot of fun. If weather is in question call 435-6608. Fee: $2.00 per individual or a family maximum of $10.00 Please pre-register at the Courtesy Counter by Wednesday September 23 rd. Trick or Treating at the Y - Saturday October 29 th Dress up in your Halloween costumes and join us for trick or treating at the YMCA. Get all the joy of Halloween without having to worry about the weather. If you don t have anybody to bring trick or treating, feel free to bring some candy to pass out with us. Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm Family Holiday Extravaganza - Saturday Dec. 3rd Join us at the YMCA annex and watch a Christmas movie or make a holiday craft. You can also enjoy a refreshment! Title Sponsor: $350 Lane Sponsor: $50 Prize Sponsor Doors Open at 6:00pm and bowling will start at 7:00pm. Halloween All-Nighter Join us October 28 th and 29 st for our 4 th annual co-ed softball all night tournament. Cost is $175 per team.
