The junior guard is the first PC player to be the conference Player of the Week since 2012-13. Storey totaled a season-high 26 points against Texas Southern on November 25, adding four assists and four steals. Her total was just one point shy of her career high and was the second-most points by a Big South player this season. The Preseason All-Big South selection leads the team in rebounds (26), assists (17), and steals (11) and is second on the team in scoring at 9.9 points per game. Jacking Up the Threes PC hit 10 three-pointers in back-to-back games against Charlotte and Texas Southern. It was the first time in the program s Division I era that PC had managed double-digit three-point makes in consecutive games. The Blue Hose connected on 10-of-34 threes against the 49ers, before going a season-best 10-of-22 from behind the three-point line against the Tigers in the Puerto Rico Classic. PC had taken no fewer than 13 three-point attempts before a loss at Gonzaga and took at least 19 in five of six contests. The team managed more than 30 attempts twice. Improved Passing Helps Offensive Efficiency In back-to-back games against Virginia Tech and Charlotte, PC recorded 25 assists on 38 made field goals, a percentage of 65.7. In its first two contests, the Blue Hose managed just 15 assists on their 32 made field goals, 46.9 percent. On the year, PC has assisted on 49 of its 91 field goals, 53.8 percent. Virola Matches Career-High at Charlotte Salina Virola turned in the first 20-point game of the season by a PC player on Sunday at Charlotte, tying her career-high with 20 points on 8-of-20 shooting to go with eight rebounds. It was the most points in a true road game by a PC player since last season when Virola also had 20 points at Campbell. PC and TSU Head to Overtime PC pushed Texas Southern to overtime on Friday night but ultimately fell to the Tigers in overtime, 74-62, in the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was PC s first overtime game since February 24, 2015, when PC defeated Charleston Southern, 56-48, in North Charleston, S.C. The Blue Hose did not play an overtime contest at all last season. On the Road Again, Again and Again Presbyterian is in the midst of a seven-game road trip that will puts it on the road for over a month, before returning home on December 22. It is PC s longest stretch of games away from home since the start of the 2009-10 when the Blue Hose opened the season with eight straight non-home games. Six of the eight were true road games with a pair of neutral site games at the Morehead State Invitational. The last time that PC went at least a month between home games came in 2007-08, PC s first season reclassifying to D1. The Blue Hose did so twice that year, Jan. 8-Feb. 16 (six straight road games) and Nov. 15-Dec. 18 (seven straight road games). A New Era Todd Steelman was named Presbyterian College s seventh women s basketball head coach on April 27, 2016, and is the program s second coach since moving to Division I beginning with the 2007-08 season. Steelman is in his first season as a head coach at any institution. Steelman comes from the University of Maine where he spent four seasons as associate head coach. Last Season in Quick Review The Blue Hose turned in a historic season in 2015-16, making a run to the Big South tournament semifinals for the first time in school history and sits second in Division I school history with 18 wins. The team finished first in PC DI history in points (1,880), threepoint field goals made (217), scoring average (60.6), field goals made (650), free throws made (363), free throw percentage (.727), offensive rebounds (369), steals (258) and scoring margin (6.8). The team put a school record four players on the Big South All-Conference teams, including claiming the Big South Freshman of the Year for the second straight season. Cortney Storey set a school record with 126 assists in the season, while Salina Virola now sits in first with a.489 three-point percentage. Taylor Petty holds second with 354 points and third with 74 threepoint field goals, both are the most by a freshman in school history. Same Five Presbyterian returns all five starters (and nine letterwinners) from the 2015-16 season. Rebecca Walker, Cortney Storey, Aianna Kelly, Janie Miles and Allie Wagner all return to lead the way for the Blue Hose, with 2015-16 Big South Freshman of the Year Taylor Petty, Kendra Talley, Kaycie Reffner and Salina Virola also returning to help fill out the roster. 2016-17 Honors Preseason All-Big South Cortney Storey (2nd) Aianna Kelly (2nd) Taylor Petty (2nd) Opponent G G G G F Indiana Miles Petty Reffner Storey Walker USC Upstate Miles Petty Reffner Storey Walker Virginia Tech Miles Petty Reffner Storey Walker Charlotte Miles Petty Reffner Storey Walker Texas Southern Miles Petty Reffner Storey Virola East Carolina Miles Petty Reffner Storey Virola Gonzaga Miles Petty Reffner Storey Virola Game-by-Game Starters 2
