The Redhawks are the seventh seed in the 2014 Western Athletic Conference Men s Basketball Tournament and will face second seed New Mexico State in the quarterfinals. THE CHICAGO STATE GAME: Seattle University concluded the 2013-14 regular season with a 67-53 loss to Chicago State Saturday afternoon at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago, Ill. Jarell Flora hit two three-pointers in the first two minutes to help Seattle U go ahead, 8-5, before Chicago State scored eight unanswered points to pull ahead, 13-8. A 7-2 Redhawk run featuring five points by D Vonne Pickett Jr. tied the game at 15-15 with 7:25 remaining in the first half, but Clarke Rosenberg scored four straight Cougar points to put Chicago State on top, 20-16. The Redhawks answered a three-pointer from Quinton Pippen with consecutive layups by Isiah Umipig and Clarence Trent to close their deficit to one at 25-24. Chicago State scored the final seven points of the first half, punctuated by a jumper from Matt Ross as time ran out, to extend its lead to 32-24 at halftime. After a layup by Eddie Denard put the Cougars ahead by 10, Seattle U went on a 12-2 scoring run over the next four minutes, led by three three-pointers from Flora, to tie the game at 36-36. Chicago State would outscore Seattle U, 22-6, to put the game away, holding the Redhawks without a field goal for almost 11 full minutes. Flora shot 6-of-11 from behind the threepoint line and 4-of-4 from the free throw line to finish with 22 points, the only Redhawk to score in double figures. Umipig collected eight points and three steals, while Pickett contributed seven points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Jack Crook pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Redhawks. WAC TOURNAMENT HISTORY: Seattle University is 0-1 in its previous appearance in the WAC Men s Basketball Tournament, losing to Texas State in the first round of the 2013 tournament, 68-56.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO STATE: The Aggies come into the WAC Tournament with a 23-9 overall record, including a 12-4 record within the league that put New Mexico State in second place in the final regular season standings. The Aggies have won nine of their last 11 games, including back-to-back victories over Bakersfield (72-57) and Grand Canyon (81-57) to close out the regular season. New Mexico State is scoring 77.7 points per game and giving up 67.4 points per contest. As a team, the Aggies are shooting 48.8 percent from the field, including 36.8 percent from behind the three-point line, and 68.1 percent from the free throw line. Sim Bhullar contributed 9.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.5 blocked shots per game for the Aggies. SERIES HISTORY: Seattle University and New Mexico State are meeting for the seventh time, with the Aggies holding a 5-1 series advantage. The first two contests took place during the 1970-71 season. On Dec. 28, 1970, in the first round of the Road Runner Classic in Las Cruces, N.M., New Mexico State defeated Seattle U, 91-78. In the rematch Feb. 20, 1971, at the old Seattle Coliseum, Seattle U was victorious over New Mexico State, 77-71. It would be 42 years before the two teams met up again, this time as conference rivals. On Jan. 10, 2013, New Mexico State pulled out an 83-82 victory over Seattle U in double overtime at KeyArena. In the rematch Feb. 9, 2013, in Las Cruces, N.M., the Aggies held on for a 60-57 win over the Redhawks. This season, New Mexico State once again swept the regular season series, first defeating Seattle U in Las Cruces, 96-87. BIG MAN OUT FOR SEASON: Sophomore forward Deshaun Sunderhaus will miss the rest of the 2013-14 season with a torn ACL in his left knee, an injury suffered in the first half of the Jan. 25 game at Grand Canyon. He is expected to fully recover from the injury in time for the 2014-15 season. FROM WAY DOWNTOWN, PART ONE: As a team, Seattle University has set new school records for most threepointers attempted in a single season with 636 and most three-pointers made in a single season with 217. Both previous standards were set in the 2001-02 season (215-for-618). COMING BACK: The Redhawks have rallied from halftime deficits five times this season. Seattle U came back from a 14-point deficit with 4:24 left in the second half against Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 13, from a five-point deficit with 6:26 remaining at Cal State Northridge Dec. 5, from a seven-point deficit with 3:19 left in regulation against Norfolk State Dec. 19, and from a 16-point deficit with 14:43 left in the second half at Idaho Feb. 1. One month later, the Redhawks overcame a six-point second half lead to complete the season sweep over Idaho. HONORS FOR UMIPIG: Junior guard Isiah Umipig was voted Second Team All-WAC as well as to the WAC All- Newcomer Team. The transfer from Cal State Fullerton had been named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week twice by the conference office during the regular season. He finished the regular season averaging 19.4 points and 3.7 assists per game. FROM WAY DOWNTOWN, PART TWO: Isiah Umipig became Seattle U s single-season record holder for made three-pointers, hitting his 90th of 2013-14 with 1:25 left in the first overtime period Feb. 27 against Chicago State. The previous record was 89 made threepointers, set by Aaron Waite in the 1989-90 season. Umipig now has 101 made three-pointers, sixth in the country in three-pointers per game (3.48). FREE BASKETBALL: Before the Feb. 27 game against Chicago State, the last and only time Seattle U needed three overtimes to decide a game was Jan. 21, 1984, at the Connolly Center against Hawaii Hilo. Seattle U finally emerged victorious, 90-88, behind the efforts of Seattle U Athletics Hall of Famer Ray Brooks, who led the team with 30 points and 12 rebounds. Seattle U has never played a game longer than three overtimes.

head coach cameron dollar (ucla 97) FIFTH season at seattle U/sixth season overall 61-87 (.412) at Seattle U/72-109 (.398) overall Cameron Dollar is in his fifth season as head coach at Seattle University. In just a short span of time, he has shown why many college basketball writers consider him one of the rising stars in the coaching industry. Dollar took a squad of several newcomers through the 2011-12 season, competing with powerhouse programs such as Virginia and Washington. The team got rolling midway through the season, winning nine of its last 12 contests, including eight in a row at KeyArena. Thanks in part to Dollar s coaching, Aaron Broussard established himself as one of the best players in program history, finishing his career 13th on the school s all-time scoring list. Cervante Burrell improved significantly during his three seasons playing under Dollar, and Eric Wallace made an important contribution to the team s success after transferring in from DePaul for his senior season. Seattle U picked up 11 victories during the 2010-11 season, including the team s second straight victory over Oregon State and a road victory at ACC school Virginia. The Redhawks also played a tight game at Pac-10 school Stanford and put up its best performance against Washington since starting the reclassification process in front of over 11,000 fans at KeyArena. With Dollar at the helm, Seattle U was invited to participate in the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer, opening the season at the University of Maryland. The Redhawks were also chosen for the ESPN BracketBuster series of games, defeating Northern Illinois on the road. Using an up-tempo style with aggressive defense, Dollar led Seattle U to a 17-14 record in 2009-10, making the Redhawks the first team to post a winning record playing a full Division I schedule in its first year as a Division I counter. The team started to gain national recognition after a 77-74 victory at Utah, and then made history later in the year with a 99-48 win at Oregon State, the worst home loss ever for the Beavers. Dollar and his squad also defended Elgin Baylor Court at KeyArena during its first year of existance, finishing with a 10-3 record at home, including exciting victories over Fresno State, Weber State, and UC Irvine. Seattle U won eight of its last nine games, posting last-second road wins at Portland State and at San Jose State in the process. He served seven years as an asssistant coach at the University of Washington before coming to Seattle U. As the top assistant for Lorenzo Romar at Washington, he helped the Huskies win their first Pac-10 outright regular season championship since 1953 in the 2008-09 season. Washington advanced to the semifinals of the Pac-10 Tournament and to the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. Prior to his arrival at UW, Dollar served three years as an assistant coach on Romar s Saint Louis University staff. He helped the Billikens to a three-year record of 51-44 (.537), including a 2000 Conference USA Tournament championship that secured the league s automatic NCAA berth. He became the nation s youngest head coach in 1998 when, at age 22, he took the reins of the Southern California College program in Costa Mesa, Calif. The Vanguards, who returned just six players from the previous season, posted an 11-22 record in Dollar s only season, but recorded wins over NAIA Top 25 teams Westmont and Azusa Pacific. As a player, Dollar lettered four seasons at UCLA before graduating in 1997. He has chosen to remain in Seattle, the site of the Bruins 1995 NCAA Championship victory. UCLA defeated Arkansas 89-78 at the Kingdome. A four-year letterman at UCLA from 1994-97, Dollar achieved national recognition in 1995 as a pivotal player in UCLA s NCAA championship season when he took over for injured starter Tyus Edney in the title game. In Dollar s final three collegiate seasons, the Bruins won the NCAA title and reached the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Dollar averaged 5.0 points and 3.7 assists per game during his four-year career. He was recruited to UCLA by then-bruins assistant Lorenzo Romar and was reunited with his coach in 1999 when Romar added Dollar to his staff at Saint Louis University. Dollar is a native of Atlanta, where his father, Don, was the long-time coach at Clarkston High School and is now serving as one of his assistant coaches at Seattle U. Cameron and his wife, Maureen, live in Seattle. They have three children: Jalen (born April 26, 2005), Giselle (born Feb. 12, 2007), and Jason (born Dec. 23, 2008).
