Most Important Symptoms and Effects, Acute and Delayed If inhaled: at low concentrations can cause severe irritation of the nose and throat. Can cause lung injury. Repeated or prolonged exposure can irritate or burn the skin. If swallowed: small amounts if in eyes: small amounts a prolonged exposure may cause blurred or foggy vision, which can contribute to accidents. This effect normally clears up within a day.
