Childhood Memories 2014 Daffodil Show Report On April 6, 2014, the Greater St. Louis Daffodil Society s annual daffodil show, Childhood Memories was held at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, MO. The horticulture, photography, and design displays were all shown in the Beaumont Room. There were Eleven participants (eight adults and three youth) who entered the design portion of the show, with at least three first time designers! There were 23 designs in total (18 adult entries and 5 youth entries) presented. Best Adult Design was won by Lynn Slackman for her interpretation of design class 3, "Mama's Kitchen" Kim Peterson won the Design Sweepstakes with three blue ribbons and one red ribbon. Kim Peterson took first place in class 1, " Transportation;" Kim Peterson won first in class 2, "Leisure Time;" and Kim Peterson was awarded first in class 4, "Penny Candy".

In the youth classes, Macy Bader won Best Youth Design in class 5, "Old Fashioned Toys and Games;", Grace Raymond took first place in class 6, Pets;, and the Youth Design Sweepstakes was a tie between Macy Bader and Grace Raymond. There were 35 photographic entries displayed at this year s show. Beth Holbrooke won the best photograph in the show and the ADS Wells Knierin Ribbon for her Class P-6 Daffodils and People entry named Camden Festival. Joy Haeffner won the Judges Choice Award for his Class P-4 Daffodils in their Native/Natural Habitat entry. This was due to the coordination that Beth Holbrooke brought to this part of our show. We really appreciate her efforts and a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated.

The Horticulture portion of the show had 18 participants with 235 exhibits that contained 465 blooms. Even with the cooler than normal weather this spring, plenty of wonderful flowers were staged in the Beaumont Room at the Missouri Botanical Garden.
