FRIENDS Written by D.A. Silva Copyright (c) 2018 This screenplay may not be used or reproduced for any purpose including educational purposes without the expressed written permission of the author.

FADE IN: INT. S ROOM - NIGHT (7), sleeps in her bed. Her arms wrapped around a FUZZY TEDDY BEAR... SOMEONE silently enters the room, they move to the bed. (O.S.) (quietly) Hey, wake up... Wake up. Shelly remains asleep... A HAND grabs her shoulder and gently shakes her. (O.S.) (CONT D) Shelly, wake up. She moans and roll to the other side of the bed. Her eyes slowly open, they settle on (30 s). Who are you? (overly happy) I m Theodore. His demeanor is not predatory, is not even adult, his manner seems very child-like, joyful, playful, and upbeat. The kind of the person that literally wouldn't hurt a fly. Are you lost? No... I want to show you something. He walks over to the door, looks back at her. (CONT D) Come on, but you need to be very quiet. Theodore leaves the room. Shelly, curious, leaves her bed and the room.

2. INT. KITCHEN - DINNING ROOM - NIGHT Shelly makes her way down the steps, turns to the kitchen... Theodore is there, now wearing a PERFORMERS UNIFORM, he s not facing her. Yet... He turns around and faces her, a spotlight hits him. No other lights come on, just the spotlight. Out of nowhere background music starts to play and Theodore s eyes fill themselves with excitement. He starts to sing. WE ARE FRIENDS, WE SPEND A LOT OF TIME PLAYING-- Theodore pulls her to the window, the light moves with them. They gaze outside... A TENT with a bright lamp on the yard. The lamp creates TWO SILHOUETTES that can be seen giggling inside the tent. (CONT D) UNDER THE TENT... Theodore takes her to. INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT They start to dance in the middle of the room... WE SING AND SMILE AND DANCE FOR A WHILE. FUN AND BRIGHT, OH, YEAH, WE ARE SO TIGHT. I WOULD DIE FOR YOU AND YOU FOR ME. WE SMILE CAUSE WE'RE NOT GENTILE. YOU'RE THE BESTEST FRIEND! YOU'RE MY FRIEND AND I LOVE THE TIME WE SPEND!!! At some point during the song, a small ball rolls into the room and bumps into Shelly's bare feet. She stops dancing. Theodore ignores it, keeps dancing and singing. She grabs the ball, scans the room, the place is empty. Only Theodore and Shelly are in the room. Theodore finishes his song, the spotlight turns off. He turns to her.

3. Hey?... (CONT D) She spins, meets his gaze. (CONT D) That's wrong? This ball rolled over. Oh, I like balls... You know balls are special, like really special. You can do anything with them. What can you do with this ball? Theodore moves to an empty coffee table. Shelly follow. He drops to his knees and she does the same. Okay. Now... Hand me the ball. Shelly gives him the ball. He takes out a small tube of glitter from his pocket and sprinkles the ball with it. What are you doing? Magic. He pulls out a FOLDED PAPER from his other pocket, opens it, and lays it on the table. Shelly turns her head and sees that... He's suddenly wearing an ARTIST'S HAT. Theodore places the ball on the paper and drags it, but instead of glitter sticking to the paper... YELLOW PAINT is created with every stroke of the ball; The ball is acting like a brush and the glitter is turning into actual paint. Shelly is amazed. Her eyes filled with wonder and joy. Theodore turns his head to her.

4. (CONT D) Do you want to try? She eagerly shakes her head, "yes." He pulls out another folded paper from his back pocket, he opens the it, and gives her the ball. Theodore sets the blank paper on the table. Shelly puts the ball on the paper and suddenly she's the one wearing the ARTIST'S HAT. She slides the ball on the paper, dabs it multiple times. Theodore peeks over to her work... She made A CLOWN DRAWING. COMPLETELY YELLOW. I painted a clown! Awesome! But do you know what's missing? What? A red nose. He takes his finger and taps the ball, he traces his finger along the nose of the clown in the painting... RED PAINT appears out of nowhere from his finger as he traces the nose. THEN-- He grabs something behind him... A BOX. (CONT D) I collected some leaves and sticks and arrange them to your favorite color. Shelly smiles, exited. SECONDS LATER

5. Shelly is making a structure, painting it, and throwing glitter at it; actual glitter not magical paint glitter. Theodore is also splashing real glitter and glue on the table, using the ball as a brush/tool. He makes the letter D on the table... INT. KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS A MAN wearing a WHITE MASK is dancing in the kitchen. There's also WOMAN in the room, she's also wearing a WHITE MASK. But she's not dancing. She's completely still, all she's doing is staring at the man dancing. LIVING ROOM: A HUMAN HEART in Theodore's hand. Shelly is placing decorations all over the place. CUT TO: Theodore licks the heart and then starts putting glitter on the it KITCHEN: The man is still dancing but it is as if he's making a ritual or something, constantly shakes his head. The woman is still staring at him in silence. OUTSIDE: In the yard. Inside the tent. The silhouettes are staring at each other, one of them seems to be holding a blade of some kind. The silhouette with the blade penetrates the skull of the other. Slow. When suddenly... The lamp inside the tent turns off. KITCHEN: The man is still dancing... The woman is lying on the floor near him. LIVING ROOM: Theodore is slamming the heart over and over on the table. KITCHEN: The man BANG his head on the counter multiple time. THE WOMAN IS GONE. LIVING ROOM: Theodore uses the blood from the now squished heart to write an E next to the D.

6. KITCHEN: The woman is violently SLAMMING the man's face onto the counter breaking his mask. She stops. The man falls. Her mask is different this time, the white mask is still white but it now has RED LINES UNDER THE EYE HOLES. She turns her head and stares (at us). LIVING ROOM: Shelly starts laughing hysterically. Theodore EATS THE SQUISHED HEART. Shelly, still laughing, pushes Theodore out of the way, grabs the ball and writes on the table, but is not yellow paint that comes out... IS RED... She writes the word "Death" on the table. KITCHEN: The woman still staring (at us). There's a GUN in the her hand now, she points the gun under her chin, fires. Blood leaves her skull and she drops dead. LIVING ROOM: 'S MOUTH HAS BLOOD DRIPPING OUT OF IT. The room is suddenly FULL OF THE WORD "DEATH" WRITTEN IN BLOOD... SCREAMING! THEN- Everything is back to normal. Nothing happened. No Theodore, no man or woman, not even the tent... But Shelly is still laughing hysterically. She continues laughing like a little maniac, alone in the dark... THE END CUT TO BLACK.
