Competitor Information - Jurassicman 2018 Schedule: Saturday 18th August 15:00-20:00 Registration open. You will need to rack your bike, (unless you are taking it yourself to the swim start) and drop off your T2 (run) bag and your FP (finish) bag with some warm clothes etc for the end of your race (you will be given tags to label your bike / bags). Sunday 19th August 05:00 Buses leave for swim start in Budleigh Salterton (approx 1 hr transfer) 06:00 Collect your timing chip and tracker from T1 06:40 Mandatory race and safety briefing (on seafront, be ready to start your race afterwards) 07:00 Event starts Registration: The event registration will be held in a gazebo in the field next to the main campsite. All participants MUST register on Saturday between 15:00-20:00 You will receive your... 1. Race race number 2. Bike number 3. Run bag (T2) number 4. Finish bag number 5. 4 safety pins 6. Glow stick and x 2 tie wraps. Use the tie wraps to affix the glow stick to the back of your rucksack so that it will be visible. (Glow sticks must be activated at last light - around 21:00) 7. Competitor Information - Jurassicman 2018 Event Timing: The event will be using Sport Ident timing. This comprises of a stick-like timing chip which is secured to your wrist. Staff will be holding the boxes and will assist you in dibbing your chip at the CP s and finish. At the finish staff will remove your chip and give you a print out of your time. Event Tracking: You will be wearing a tracker for this event (not in the swim section!) and we will share the link with you asap, so your family and friends can watch your race from the comfort of their sofa! You will be given the tracker on Sunday morning in T1 and we will assist you with the placement. YOU MUST NOT FORGET TO TRANSFER IT TO YOUR RUN BAG IN T2! The tracker needs to be taped to strap on rucksack (there will be tape in T1 for this) or placed in tight top pocket of a rucksack. It needs to remain as stationary as possible. If you need to use the SOS button, call race HQ to explain why you have pushed the button. Cost of tracker if lost is 150 Do not take the trackers out of their bags unless using the SOS button. If you retire early, please do not leave the event without returning your timing chip and tracker to the finish staff. This is how all runners are accounted for and the chips and trackers cost 180. Accommodation and Car parking: You can camp / park on the event field (DT6 6BX). Camping / parking is included for COMPETITORS ONLY for Saturday and Sunday night. Support crew will need to pay ( 8 per person per night). If you would like to stay extra nights either side of the Saturday and Sunday, please call the campsite to book ( 8 per person per night).
Competitor Information - Jurassicman 2018 Start: Lime Kiln Car park at Budleigh Salterton (EX9 6JD) The start line will be marked by flags. Please ensure you are on the start line in good time. A foghorn will be used to start the race. Leave any dry kit on the minibus, marked with your number (this will be returned to the campsite) Bike end and run start point: Whitecliff Farm, Whitecliff Road, Swanage BH19 1RL. Your run kit will be waiting here for you and your bike will be transported back to the campsite in Charmouth and held securely until you have returned after your race. (you MUST pick up your bike from the campsite when you have finished your race, no matter how late). Finish point West Lulworth Village Hall, Church Rd, West Lulworth, Wareham BH20 5SG. This will be signed from the coast path exit. CP and Aid points Please see the maps for these. Medical There will be medics located on the course and at the start / finish area. If you become/find a casualty follow this procedure: 1. Apply any known first aid 2. Call 999 and report the incident to the race director (07968 976 116) Meat wagon Should you be unable to continue with your race at any point, there will be a meat wagon sweeping the bike course. Please contact the race director to arrange pick up on 07968 976116. If you want to pull out on the run course, please make your way to the next CP. Weather The weather on the coastal path can change very quickly. Make sure that you adhere to the kit list and are adequately clothed. If the weather is extremely adverse and deemed to be dangerous, the event will be cancelled or re-routed as appropriate. Possible scenarios for this include high winds or thick fog. The event director s decision is final on this matter and will be based entirely on keeping you alive and safe. If in the view of the event director the weather is deteriorating to the point whereby it poses a safety risk to competitors whilst they are on the course, they will be held at the next checkpoint and transported back to the event HQ.
Competitor Information - Jurassicman 2018 Kit list: Whilst taking part in the race it is compulsory for you to carry the following equipment. We will be enforcing the policy of: no kit, no race. If the worst happens to you, any of the below kit could really make the difference to your survival and well being. Bike Waterproof/windproof coat Water proofed mobile phone Puncture repair kit x2 bottles of liquid Nutrition Issued maps Issued tracker Run Whistle Waterproof/windproof coat Nutrition Water proofed mobile phone Issued maps Glow Stick Survival foil blanket Head torch More than 200ml of liquid Blister kit Issued tracker Cut offs: Swim - 2 hours after start of race (0700 Sunday) Exit transition from bike to run - 12 hours after start of race (1900 Sunday) Overall cut off - 20 hours after start of race (0300 Monday) Finish: Finish staff will dib and download your chip, provide you with a printout of your time and you willl be presented with your medal. There will be hot drinks and soup being served. You will then be transported back to the campsite. There may be a wait between your finish time and transport back to the campsite due to the limited amount of minibuses. Please ensure you have warm clothes in your finish bag and anything else you need.
Competitor Information - Jurassicman 2018 Course signage: There will be signs on the bike course at points where you need to make a decision, road junctions, roundabouts etc. These signs may be few and far between, so you will need to be aware of your location and use your GPS and map booklet you will be given at registration. There are no signs on the run course as it is the Coast Path marked with acorn signs, but you will also be given the run course map booklet at registration to refer to if needed. Relay teams: Please contact claire@brutalevents.co.uk to let us know your logistic plan for the event and if you need help getting from various points. Toilets and showers: Toilets and showers are available at the HQ area (campsite). There will be a portaloo at T1 and T2 and there are toilets at the finish. Results: Your time will be printed out at the finish for you to have a copy. Results will also be published on the www.brutalevents.co.uk website after the event. Rules: No drafting. You must wear a cycle helmet. No MP3 players or similar on the bike course. No littering. Other points: Please support the local shops / pubs and be respectful of the local residents. Please keep the noise to a minimum as you get close to the finish and come through the village, as local residents may be asleep. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LITTER ON ANY PART OF THE COURSE OR COASTAL PATH.
