Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1075 1478 Capital Circle NW Tallahassee, FL 32303 Volume 70, Issue 4 Greetings from the Governor - Carl Crayton Newsletter Date April 2016 On Saturday October 22 nd, the Tallahassee Moose Lodge will hold an open house and appreciation day for the Volunteers and Employees of Big Bend Hospice. I know many of as well as my family unfortunately have needed or used the many wonderful services this great organization has to offer. I will share part of mine at the end of this message. I am asking all members to please get involved in making the 22 nd, their day, a day to honor these wonderful people who somehow deal with sorrow and loss on a daily basis but do it with love and compassion and truly a servant s heart. A Team is not a group of people who work together. A Team Is a group of people that trust each other. You can get involved by bringing a side dish. The Lodge will be providing hamburgers and hotdogs as well as beans and coleslaw. Sid Lingerfelt will be smoking some leg quarters and donating his time once again. Linda White will be in charge of a cake auction. So please, we need plenty of goods. Please see Linda and ask how you can help. If you own a business or know somebody who does or sews or makes crafts like Evette Bennett or Alma Henley, please bring in gift cards or just get with Evette and see what you can bring in to help. Please, let's make this a big day for a great group who touches lives and helps this community on a daily basis. This is what we as Moose Members are called to do. It's called Heart of the Community. No Father should ever have to bury his Son. Wait let me rephrase that and say no Parent should ever have to bury a child. No Parent should ever have to watch cancer destroy the life of a healthy young man with twins that were 10 years old and a new baby of a year. No Father should ever have to sign a DNR on their child. No Father should have to try to explain to his 10 year old Granddaughter why God is taking her daddy away. No Poppy (that's what they call me) should every have to her say I Love my Daddy and I'll trade places with him if only God will let me. And no children should ever have to watch cancer eat away the lives of one of their parents. But you see, Big Bend Hospice was there every step of the way to not only make Stephens last days easier but because of the many programs. Programs such as counseling for children and families, music therapy programs, and daily care at no cost to the family. Some of you have had to walk that lonely path like my family did 2 years ago. For those of you that haven't, I pray you never do. But as long as we as a Lodge and individuals and our community continue to support Big Bend Hospice, you'll never have to walk that path alone. So again please, get involved for Big Bend Hospice Appreciation Day on October 22nd and let's treat these wonderful people with love and respect and show them just how much they are appreciated. Thank You Carl Crayton
