All subject to WEATHER! 1 st round matches for all events must be completed by specified 1 st ROUND END DATE. MACKAY BOWLING CLUB INC. CLUB COMPETITION 2018 CONDITIONS OF PLAY All competition shall be played in accordance with the Laws of the Sport of Bowls Crystal Mark 3 rd Edition with Domestic Regulations for Australia, Bowls Australia Policies, Bowls Queensland By laws, and these Conditions of Play. Any infringements of these Laws or conditions of play may involve disqualification or re play as the Committee may decide. The Committee shall disallow any player from playing in any event if he is un financial. Please refer to DR 4 of the Laws of the Sport Constituted Players and Teams. All competitors must be financial at the time when nominations are submitted, otherwise nomination will not be accepted. The total fee of $2 per player, per event, must be paid prior to first match. UNAVAILABLE BOOK The 2018 UNAVAILABLE BOOK can be found in the club bar. Club members are reminded to write their name in this book if unavailable to play at any time. Closure time for this book is 1:30 PM each SUNDAY. Men s Section Committee has ruled the following: Each Club Member is allowed a maximum of six (6) unavailable days during competition periods for the year with the following exceptions, ill health or family bereavement. Those Members, who are shift workers and are genuinely unavailable weekends due to work commitments, may have an extension of the number of unavailable days. It is the responsibility of these members to notify the Games Director on a regular basis of their unavailability and endorse the unavailable book accordingly. However, these members must make themselves available for Club Competition when they are not required to work. IMPORTANT: Playing in another Competition is NOT a reason to be unavailable and a substitute is not allowed (Refer Club Rule 11). CALLING OF CLUB COMPETITION The Games Director is solely responsible for the scheduling of club competition. He will endeavour to schedule matches for the timely completion of each event as early as practical after green opening for the year. Except for matches with predefined completion dates at nomination, after reviewing the unavailable book each week, the Games Director shall call Club Competition for the following weekend or further. After the games have been called to play the conditions shall be play, sub or forfeit. If any Member called to play and for some unforeseen circumstance is not available, it is then the responsibility of that member to notify the Games Director IMMEDIATELY. The Games Director will then determine if the game will be played or not and the Games Director must advise all players of his decision. Any games called to play SHALL NOT BE CANCELLED without the approval of the Games Director. MARKERS If a member is called to mark a Singles game and for some reason is unable to do so, the onus is on this person to arrange a substitute and also advise the Games Director. GREEN FEES Green fee is $8 per player per match ($12 if playing two games on one day). ATTIRE All competing players must be suitably attired that is, in whites or approved Club colours. Players and markers must appear in correct dress as set out in Bowls Queensland By Law 19 Attire Bowls Queensland (men). This includes mid week games, when arranged by mutual agreement. SCORECARDS As per DR 3.2 all scorecards must be signed as being correct and the completion time of the match must also be recorded prior to being handed to the Club official. RESCHEDULING/WITHDRAWALS & FORFEITS Rescheduling/Withdrawals A player/team may withdraw after the posted match schedule; however, the Games Director must be notified of the withdrawal as early as possible. It will be at the Games Director s discretion whether the match will be rescheduled or forfeit. Mutually postponed matches are allowed, but only with the expressed approval of the Games Director. Players are encouraged to discuss rescheduling with their opponents before contacting the Games Director. Forfeits Should any player in any match fail to arrive within fifteen (15) minutes of the scheduled starting time the opponent/s shall be awarded the match. SUBSTITUTES Eligible substitutes are permitted throughout the competition. Substitutes/Replacements in Singles are not permitted under any circumstances. Substitutes cannot be made without the expressed approval of the Games Director. TRIAL ENDS a) Trial ends shall be under the control of the State Controlling Body. Trial ends may be allowed as per Law 5.1 if time permits. b) Practice shall not be allowed after one (1) hour prior to the scheduled starting time on the day of play. UNCOMPLETED MATCH / COMPETITION a) If a match is not completed because of inclement weather, bad light or any other justifiable cause, effecting all players, then sixteen (16) ends shall constitute a match in round play and the finals. b) If a player/team is unable to complete any game already commenced, their opponent/s shall be awarded the game. c) For Singles, twenty one (21) shots up constitute a match in rounds and final. POSITION OF PLAYERS WHEN NOT PLAYING a) Players at the mat end not delivering a bowl should stand a minimum of one (1) metre behind the mat. b) Players at the head end not controlling the head should stand a minimum of two (2) metres behind the head, or On the surrounds of the green if the jack is in the ditch, or Well clear of the head if it is not possible to stand on the surrounds. c) At the start of each end only the Skip or Deputy will be at the head. 2018 Mens Section Club Competition Conditions of Play.docx Page 2 of 3

PLAYER MOVEMENTS DURING PLAY a) Walking to the Head Players will only be allowed to walk up to the head as follows: i. Singles The opponents: after delivery of their third and fourth bowls. ii. Pairs The Leads: after delivery of their third and fourth bowls. The Skips: after delivery of their second, third and fourth bowls. iii. Triples The Leads and Seconds: after both the Seconds have delivered their last bowl. The Skips: May go to the head after either Skip s first bowl. Restricting the movement of players does not prohibit a player being called to the head by the Skip, however care should be taken not to delay play. iv. Fours The Leads and Seconds: after both the Seconds have delivered their second bowl. The Thirds: after both the Thirds have delivered their second bowl. The Skips: May go to the head after either Skip s first bowl. Restricting the movement of players does not prohibit a player being called to the head by the Skip, however care should be taken not to delay play. b) Player Position Players, excluding skips, are not permitted to remain at the head whilst their opposite number is delivering their bowl. Any skip remaining at the head end shall retire behind the head. Skips must return to the mat as soon as their opponent s bowl has come to rest. c) Delaying play If the umpire, either by their own observation or on appeal from one of the skips or the opponents in singles, decides that a player/team is playing in an unsportsmanlike manner by deliberately delaying play: On the first occasion the umpire will warn the player/team; If the player commits the same offence a second time the end will be regarded as completed and the opponents of the offender/s will score as many shots as there are bowls in use by such opponent; and If the player offends the third time the game will be forfeited to the opponent/s. 10. DISQUALIFICATION Should there be a Challenge to Bowls under Law 52.4 during Sectional or Post Sectional or Knockout play a player may play with another set of Legal bowls until the result of the test is known. a) If there is a Challenge to Bowls in the final the result of that final shall not be declared until the outcome of the Bowls challenge is known. b) If a team or player is disqualified for any reason, the team or player LAST DEFEATED by the disqualified team or player shall take their place. ARTIFICIAL DEVICES Any player using an Artificial Device for the delivery of a bowl in a Club Event shall have available for perusal at all times during the course of the event, by an umpire or other accredited official, either a card or some other official documentary proof issued by Bowls Queensland of their right to use such an Artificial Device. The penalty for the player not producing the required document is that the player cannot use the device. If the player chooses not to play, then he/she may be allowed an eligible substitute in a team game. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION DEVICES All electronic communication devices located within six (6) metres of the green whilst a match is in progress SHALL BE SWITCHED OFF. These include mobile phones, tablets, pagers, radios etc. Special dispensation may be given to on call emergency personnel by the Games Director after consultation. SOCIAL MEDIA To assist in ensuring that interactions between players and officials are harmonious the following will be included in the Conditions of Play as permitted by Appendix A.1.4.15. Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures. No player shall use Social Media to make derogatory comments about Mackay Bowling Club Inc. or its officials, the event or any other player for the duration of the competition.
