Other Comments / Explanations: All horses competing in Races 1-4 underwent veterinary examinations after arriving on course and were passed suitable to race. John Allen was examined by the doctor after Race 6 and stood down from fulfilling his remaining engagement. Race 1 - URMG SECURITY MAIDEN HURDLE - 3200 metres: Hastetothewedding - after negotiating the first hurdle, had to be restrained when awkwardly placed on the heels of All Well (IRE) which had jumped inwards. Over-raced in the early stages. Jumped the fifth hurdle awkwardly. Retired from the event prior to the second last hurdle. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to its near hind pastern and will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel for assessment. Entirely Perfect (NZ) - jumped the third hurdle awkwardly. Retired out of the event after jumping the sixth hurdle. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and the gelding will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel for assessment. Bardell (NZ) - made a faulty jump at the fifth hurdle and became unbalanced. Made the last hurdle awkwardly, knuckling on landing. What A Saga - knuckled on landing after the sixth hurdle, dislodging its rider Paul Hamblin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to its near hind heel. The gelding will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel for assessment. Paul Hamblin was examined by the doctor and passed fit to continue riding. Royalstroem - after the sixth hurdle near the 1200m had to be checked to avoid the heels of What A Saga which had dislodged its rider. Jumped the seventh hurdle awkwardly. Try Four - bumped and carried outwards on straightening by Tremec (NZ), which shifted out. All Well (IRE) - prior to jumping the second last hurdle, made contact with the inside marker peg before then racing inside the last marker peg prior to straightening and was subsequently eased out of the event. Rider Jamie Mott explained his mount shifted in and away abruptly from other runners when racing greenly and made contact with the marker peg. As the gelding had shifted inside the markers of its own accord, Stewards acting under AR138(3), disqualified All Well (IRE) from the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained an abrasion to its near hind leg and lost its off fore plate.

Race 2 - WILSONS TREE SERVICE BM120 HURDLE - 3600 metres: Caroun (IRE) - late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 1.04pm when it did not arrive on course in time due to a float breakdown. Western Kingdom (IRE) - jumped the first hurdle awkwardly. Compelled (NZ) - hampered after jumping the third hurdle by Salisbury which had jumped in. Salisbury - made the eighth hurdle awkwardly. Eased from the event prior to the second last hurdle. Rider Braidon Small stated in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its current preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and the gelding will be referred to the Jumps Review Panel for assessment. Monte Carlo (IRE) - rounding the home turn had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Western Kingdom (IRE) which shifted in quickly before being straightened by its rider. Jumped the last hurdle awkwardly. Fledged (GB) - made the second last hurdle awkwardly. Lost its near hind plate in running. Race 3 - BRENDAN DRESCHLER HURDLE - 3600 metres: Zanteco (NZ) - made the third hurdle awkwardly. Lost its near hind plate in running. Gingerboy - shifted inwards abruptly thereby making the sixth hurdle awkwardly. Made the eleventh hurdle awkwardly. Rider John Allen reported his mount may not have been suited by todays track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. When questioned regarding his actions between the 700m and the 500m, where he had several sustained looks to his outside, John Allen stated that he looked to his outside initially near the 700m to ascertain how quickly runners to his outside were improving, so as to adjudge when to place his mount under pressure. He added he was not aware that he had taken so many looks to his outside, however did not feel this had any bearing on the result as he placed his mount under heavy pressure approaching the 400m. His comments were noted. Gold Medals (NZ) - made the eleventh hurdle awkwardly. King Of Dudes (GB) - made the eleventh hurdle awkwardly.
Extra Zero - rider Tom Ryan reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated the step up to 3600m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 4 - ECYCLE SOLUTIONS MOSSTROOPER STEEPLECHASE - 3600 metres: King Triton - raced keenly in the early stages. Wells - raced in restricted room to the inside of Sea King (NZ) near the 600m. Zataglio (NZ) - raced in restricted room to the inside of Wells near the 600m. Sea King (NZ) - hung outwards under pressure over the final 150m. Arch Fire (USA) - landed awkwardly after negotiating the second last obstacle. Made the last obstacle awkwardly, dislodging its rider Jamie Mott. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a small puncture wound to its off fore elbow. Jamie Mott was examined by the doctor and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements. Race 5 - BENDIGO MAZDA BM70 HANDICAP - 1100 metres: Aurelius Hero - knuckled shortly after the start. Steadied outwards on straightening when awkwardly placed on the heels of Amaretto then shifted out to obtain a clear run near the 200m. Had a tendency to lay in under pressure from the 200m. Vegas Beauty - commenced awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider Luke Currie reported the filly was not suited to the Heavy 9 track conditions and further explained that after beginning awkwardly he settled further back than anticipated. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Amaretto - rider Cory Parish reported his mount did not handle the Heavy 9 track conditions. Alberti - apprentice Tahlia Hope explained the gelding began very well and over-raced early and for this reason she found herself leading. Bay Of Biscay - rider Mark Pegus could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slightly slower than normal recovery. Race 6 - COUNTRYRACINGTOURS.COM.AU BM64 HANDICAP - 1600 metres: Walloon Region - crowded for room shortly after the start between Forsyth (NZ) and Fine Evader which both shifted ground.
Junuh (NZ) - cast its off hind plate in running. Rider Sam Payne was reprimanded for using his whip seven times prior to the 100m. Forsyth (NZ) - rider Dean Yendall felt there may be something amiss with the colt. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than it cast its off hind plate in running. Parmalove - rider Craig Robertson could offer no explanation for the performance and connections indicated the filly may now be retired. Race 7 - SANTONS OF BENDIGO BM70 HANDICAP - 1300 metres: Abohar - trainer Mr Richard Laming was fined $50 for presenting the mare to race without winkers which are part of its declared gear. Got its head up when inclined to lay outwards in the early stages and was steadied inwards by its rider near the 800m to obtain a position closer to the fence. Approaching the home turn got its head up when being eased when held up for clear running. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted today, rider Steven Arnold stated that as the mare had over-raced considerably at its most recent start, he was instructed to gain cover however he had intended to settle more forward but after being only fairly away he was unable to do so. He added in the middle stages he elected to obtain a position to the inside of runners so as to save ground prior to the home turn. Rouen - commenced awkwardly. Chivadahlii - rider Dean Yendall was fined $200 for using his whip six times prior to the 100m and in assessing penalty Stewards took into account his recent record. Storm Approach - rider Mark Pegus was severely reprimanded for using his whip six times prior to the 100m and in assessing penalty Stewards took into account his recent record. Barely A Scent - rider Luke Currie was severely reprimanded for using his whip six times prior to the 100m and in assessing penalty Stewards took into account his recent record. Race 8 - BRB ELECTRICAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1300 metres: Luchador - bumped at the start by Ive Got It which jumped in. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until approaching the 200m when it shifted out making contact with Warrington. Tri Harda - slow to begin.
Warrington - commenced to over-race in the early stages having to be restrained near the 1000m when awkwardly placed on the heels of Mantener La Fe (Damian Lane) which initially shifted in; Damian Lane was advised to exercise more care. Rushmore - raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride forward and obtain a forward position three wide without cover passing the 1000m. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, trainer Mr Brian Gentle explained that the gelding has previously performed well on rain affected tracks and had benefited from a freshen up. Kloss - raced four wide without cover for the majority of the event. Mr In Between - laid inwards under pressure in the straight. Rider Dean Yendall reported his mount raced greenly in the early stages. Mantener La Fe - rider Damian Lane stated that after beginning well he found himself further forward than intended. Damian Lane could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and trainer Mr Shaun Dwyer will advise Stewards if anything comes to light in the coming days.
