d) Another owner reported that the Beneteau 42s7 is faster on all points of sail regardless of rating e) Ron Coalson (French Bred) reported that the First 42, First 36.7, and First 42s7 were identical on reaches, but that the 36.7 was slower downwind f) Warren commented that he believes the 36.7 is slower downwind than it is upwind, so it should not be level rated g) Motion for 78/78/81 h) Motion passes 10-3 13) Adhara 30 s brought by Miss Ali (97036) a) Last month the rating was modified from 84/84/84 to 87/87/87 b) Dan Harlan reports that only 1 of the 3 boats has participated to any large degree this year, and also that the boat has maintained a 90 rating in Long Beach (the boat was given a -6 San Diego offset years ago) c) Dan also reports that the offset was done when the Adhars 30 s were among the fastest local boats; Now it s one of the slowest boats in the section, and often has to race against larger boats d) Dan also said that the other boats would be likely to come out if the offset was eliminated, especially on random leg (since most CRA races are scored random leg) e) Enrique Mereles (Al Na ir) reported that his experience has been that the boat is no longer competitive given the boats they re racing against in section f) Al added that he sees the boat is uncompetitive as well, and deserves time g) Others added that the boats are not good reaching boats h) Ken reported that in the early-mid 1990 s the boats were winning trophies in more than half their races, which is why the -6 area offset was voted in i) He also reported that the boats have not been racing much lately in PHRF races, but they have done some j) Al motioned for 84/87/90 (buoy/rlc/owc) k) Motion passes 11-2 14) Ultimate 24 Boom (4) a) Last month the boat was modified from 99/87/81 to 111/99/93 b) Owner reports that PHRF SD was the first board in the country, and rated at 99/87/81 c) The boat has not performed well here at that rating in class 2 d) SF also rated the boat 99 and has not performed e) The boat has not been able to race against Olson 30 s or J-105s f) Motion for the same 111/99/93 g) Motion passes unanimously Rating Reviews 15) None Officers reports 16) Chair (Al) a) Al is available to go to the next SoCal meeting in Long Beach, but will typically not be available after that b) There are some changes to the SoCal rules being voted on this month, including changes to how asyms are measured and allowing boats to carry both asymmetric and symmetric spinnakers c) PHRF San Diego annual meeting is January 10 th at Fiddler s Green Page 3 of 5
