ANTISURGE VALVE PROCESS REQUIREMENTS: Anti-Surge protection is provided by a control valve that opens allowing gas from the compressor outlet to re-circulate to the inlet. Compressor surge happens when the downstream flow demand changes and doesn t match the current compressor operating point. The flow control system will change the driver (turbine or motor) speed if possible to adjust to the new flow rate, but the speed of the large rotating mass (driver + compressor) often can't be changed quickly enough to match the change in operating point. When the compressor speed and corresponding design flow rate don't match the actual system demand, flow reversal can occur in the compressor. Without outside intervention the flow reversal cycle will continue placing seals and other internal parts under great stress. Thus complete compressor failure is possible.
STEAM TURBINE BY PASS PROCESS REQUIREMENT: The turbine bypass system is a basic component of power plant, that has evolved over the years to increase operational flexibility and plant life, protecting its components during transient operation. The turbine bypass system enables independent activity of the steam generator and turbine during start-up, load rejection, shutdown and variable pressure operation. This autonomous operation reduces start-up and reloading times and increases overall plant availability, efficiency and lifetime. One of the main issue is to get fast and reliable operations and responds from the plant. Start up: Valve bypass recirculates steam until the turbine reaches correct temperature No Boiler Trip after load rejections: Steam produced by boiler exceed the amount demanded by the turbine. Fast acting turbine by-pass to absorb and recirculate excess flow saving steam dumped to atmosphere.
