speed (knots) direction (degrees) Sunday Sailors Winter Series Race 7 Great Weather for a Sail but Tough for a Race A clear sunny morning with a 9 knot northerly breeze and flat seas created exceptional conditions for a sail. However, the breeze was never firmly established in the forecast range of 1 to15 knots and eased as the morning progressed. The averaged elapsed time of 2:24:3 was the longest of any race this series. The race was won by the 3 foot Defiance; (Dawn Cleaver) who beat the rest of the fleet by 4 minutes 44 seconds. She was followed by the Wright 1 (Stuart Morrison Jack) who narrowly beat the Beneteau 5 CARPE DIEM (Paul Commins) across the line by 2 seconds.
