RUTLEDGE WOLFPACK SOFTBALL 2018 REGISTRATION INFORMATION Welcome to Rutledge Softball 2018! We welcome players of all ages and skill level. We focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game, improving players' skills and (most importantly!) having fun. We are currently accepting registrations for girls between the ages of 6 and 14 (15-year-olds can play U-14 as long as they did not turn 15 before January 2, 2018). Players can register two ways this year: by mail or at an in-person registration session (Feb. 8 at the Rutledge Borough Hall from 7 9:00pm). Deadline to register is March 1. Spots fill up quickly so please register early!!! The 2018 softball registration fee for all teams is $130. For those with more than one child playing, there is a $20 discount for each player after the first child. Cost has gone up as we are allowing players to keep their game jerseys at the end of the season. Here s what you need to register: Completed registration forms (included in this document) Registration fee (Check made payable to Rutledge Girls Club or cash) A copy of your daughter's birth certificate (new players only) A recent wallet-size photo (new players only) We hope to have four teams this year: U-8, U-10, U-12 and U-14. (Please see registration form for age cutoff dates.) Since we hope to add a new team (U-14), we will need new coaches this year (most likely for U-12 team). Please indicate on the registration form if you are willing to coach. Contact Margie if you have questions. In-person registration will take place on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 7:00-9:00pm at the Rutledge Borough Hall (located at the corner of Sylvan Ave. & Unity Terrace). It is not mandatory to register in person. You can also mail/drop off your registration forms to address indicated on forms. Rutledge Softball competes in the Del Val League, which includes teams from all areas of Delaware County. Our season begins in April and teams average two games a week. The season for U8 generally wraps up around the third week of June, depending on rainouts. The season for U10, U12 and U14, including playoffs, can run through the 2nd week of July. Please keep in mind when planning your summer vacations. Home games are played at Rutledge Triangle Park. Location of away games depends on the teams in our divisions, but will be similar to prior years (e.g, Ridley Park, Nether, Media, etc.). Contact Margie Corcoran, Rutledge Girls Club President, at margie.corcoran@gmail.com or 610-506-5900 if you have questions or need more information.

Rutledge Girls Club/Del Val League General Information Rutledge teams practice on Saturday mornings and one week night per week starting in mid- to late March (weather permitting). Practices are held the Triangle Park (corner of Rutledge Ave & Waverly Terrace). Practice times/game nights for age groups haven t been determined yet. U-8 will be provided with jersey and shorts for uniforms. (Players can keep jerseys at end of season. Shorts must be returned.) U-10, U-12 and U-14 players will receive a jersey, which they can keep at the end of the season. Players on these teams are asked to provide their own black softball pants. All players in the Del Val League in our age groups must wear a fielder s mask in order to play in the infield. Masks are sold at most local sporting goods stores and online. They run between $20 and $40 depending on type you choose. By league rules, outfielders aren t required to wear a mask. However we encourage all players to wear their mask at all times. A player is expected to bring her own softball glove. Rutledge provides team batting helmets. However, we encourage players to bring their own batting helmets if possible. This will ensure a better fit for your player, while eliminating the health concern over shared helmets. Batting helmets much have a face guard and a chinstrap. Each team will have a supply of team bats for sharing. Players can bring their own bat if they choose. However, all bats must meet Del Val league requirements. If you purchase a bat, do not remove any packaging until the league has approved the bat. Make sure you are able to return the bat. Bats must have a stamp on the bat that says ASA (Amateur Softball Association) approved. Bats must be single-walled, 1-piece construction and cannot be made of any composite materials. Your coach will take new bats to a Del Val League meeting to be inspected prior to use during a game. Approved bats are given a Del Val sticker that must remain on the bat all season. Umpires will check to ensure all bats have stickers. If an unauthorized bat is used during a game, the game will be forfeited by the team using the bat. Your coaches will go over bat rules in detail once practices start. If you want to buy a bat before that, please email me at Margie.corcoran@gmail.com, and I will give you the information you need. If your daughter also plays for a softball tournament team, let me know as the league limits the number of players permitted in certain divisions. Team rosters are limited to between 12-13 players. Spots are first-come, first-serve. Please register ASAP so your daughter doesn t miss out!! We had to turn people away last year, which we hate to do!! So PLEASE sign up early!
