Kamloops Dressage Show is sanctioned as a recognized Bronze and Gold competition member of Equine Canada, 308 Legget Drive, Suite 100, Ottawa, Ontario, K2K 1Y6 and is governed by the rules of EC. STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES Equine Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada GENERAL RULES, supports adherence to the humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction. All persons shall be committed to upholding the welfare of horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities; requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect, and compassion and that they never be subjected to mistreatment; ensuring that all Equestrians including owners, trainers and competitors or their respective agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose; providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort, sanitation and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure; providing current information on Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Equines and other equine health and welfare initiatives; continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare; requiring owners, trainers and competitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization's rules and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competitions, and; actively promoting the development and adherence of competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horses. The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, who is informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and competition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel abusive nor inhumane. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rulebook. Western dress and saddlery rules are available under the HCBC rules which can found in the HCBC Rulebook. Approved helmets are required and must be worn at all times when mounted as per EC Rules Section E. Exhibitors are responsible for knowledge of the rules. Please direct questions regarding rules and regulations to the Steward. Current Horse Council B.C. membership is mandatory for this competition. In the Gold Competition all Canadian entries are required to hold both an EC Horse Recording and a valid EC Horse Activation to compete, or if owned by a temporary sport license holder, a Temporary Horse Registration form must be purchased at each competition entered. Foreign entries must sign an affidavit. Also all Competitors in the Gold Division must have paid the Dressage Canada Junior or Senior Affiliate membership. Temporary licenses, Bronze licenses and upgrades may be purchased with your entry. Refer to the current Equestrian Canada schedule of fees. A photocopy of the current HCBC and EC membership card must be attached to the entry form. Any horse entered in any class at a competition may be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event location. Per A801, every entry at the EC sanctioned completion shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in EC sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition.

Hors Concours entries are accepted at the full entry fee and are subject to all EC rules including horse recordings and EC sport licenses but are not eligible for placings, ribbons or trophies. The horse s competition number must be worn at all times while on the show grounds. The number must be visible at all times in the schooling/exercise areas as well as in the competition ring. Failure to display the number may result in elimination or disqualification. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to present themselves to the steward for tack check immediately following their ride. Failure to do so will incur elimination. Lungeing is only permitted in the round lunge pen provided. Callers are allowed per Equine Canada rules. Competitors must provide their own callers. The show committee reserves the right to excuse any horse deemed (in their opinion) unmanageable from the show grounds. Protests or objections to be handled by the show committee/steward. STABLING Secure covered box stalls are provided. Fees are $100.00* for the duration of the competition (Friday-Sunday). Shavings are included. Additional days are available; please email: info@kamloopsdressage.com A separate cheque for $40.00 per stall must be included as a cleaning deposit to be returned when stalls are stripped. Alternatively, a $30.00 fee may be pre-paid with the entry to leave the stall unstripped at the end of the competition. Note that this fee is for stripping the stall only and does not include daily stall cleaning Straw is not permitted. Please deposit all manure and hay in designated area. Competitors who want to make changes to their stall assignments must contact Pam, the Stable Manager. Haul-in Fee $15 per day per horse. Trailers will be allocated trailer parking away from the main showground area to ensure the show is not disrupted. Day stalls are not available. Classes may be scheduled at any time on the day listed in the class schedule. Ride times will only be changed in the case of error, overlapping times, or to facilitate the running of the show. Failure to ride at the scheduled time will incur elimination. 20x40 Ring: Walk/Trot tests and all FEI PE Grade 1 to 3 Tests. 20x60 Ring: All remaining tests. Bronze Competition - $35 per test Gold Competition - $45 per test Freestyle s - $45 per test ENTRIES ENTRIES CLOSE WEDNESDAY JUNE 14, 2017 at 5:00 pm. All entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis and should adhere to the entries deadline. Dressage [Bronze/Gold], [Rider Name], [Horse Name] to ensure the payment can be matched to the entry. The entry form and all waivers must be signed by the owner, competitor, person responsible, parent/guardian, as applicable, and photocopies of the required membership cards and licenses must be provided to the show office before the competition number will be issued. Cheques for stall deposits must be provided to the show office before the competition number will be issued. Each horse must be entered on a separate form appropriate to the rider s sport license. All fees and copies of applicable membership cards must accompany the entry forms. Show office will be open from 2pm Friday June 23 For insurance purposes you must collect and ride with your number, or pay the Sun Meadows drop-in fee of $15 per horse if you wish to ride before 2 pm. Numbers will NOT be given to competitors who have outstanding balances for their show entries. When picking up numbers, competitors are required to pay CASH for outstanding amounts. The show committee will try to contact any competitor who has an outstanding balance prior to the start of the show. The show rings will close at 6.30 pm please come early if you do want the chance to ride. The Show Committee reserves the right to limit the number of entries and/or refuse any entry; split, cancel or combine and/or adjust classes or awards; govern all conditions of the show; and make decisions upon any matter not covered by current EC rules. Ride Times will be available on Wednesday June 21 2016 at website: kamloopsdressage.com Riders including their e-mail address on their entry will have the times e-mailed to them. If you are riding a number of different horses in the same class, please indicate the preferred order of ride times. The Show Committee will try to accommodate each competitor. REFUNDS / POST & LATE ENTRIES Prior to closing date, all fees will be refunded. After closing date, 50% of class fees will be refunded with a vet certificate; stabling and administration fees will not be refunded. A vet certificate must be presented or emailed to info@kamloopsdressage.com 24 hours prior to the start of the show, i.e. certificate must be received before June 17 at 8:00 am for ANY fees to be refunded. No fees of any kind will be refunded after 8:00 am on June 17. Post/Late Entry Fees of $20.00 will be added to any entries received after the closing date. Please get your entries to us early, as we will be charging this late fee. The schedule is affected dramatically with each late entry and we are therefore late in posting the ride times. Changes to Entries: Changes to accepted entries, after the closing date, will be subject to a $15 Entry Change Fee per change of test or division. Substitutions of horse or rider will be allowed up to and including the closing date. Any substitution after the closing date will be considered a CHANGE TO ENTRY and will be subject to a $15 Entry Change Fee. Entries received prior to the closing date, after the competition is full, will be put on a waiting list. They will NOT be subject to post entry fees if/when they are accepted into the show. If a competitor does not wish to be on a waiting list or does not get into the show, all entry fees will be refunded. Ribbons are presented from 1 st to 4 th place in all classes. AWARDS Ribbons and Prizes for Champion and Reserve Champion in both Bronze and Gold Competitions will be presented. Combined highest percentages will determine the Champion and Reserve Champion: Training to Fourth Level; you must enter and ride 3 tests over the two days of the show. Your 2 highest scores will qualify towards Championship, not including TOC. Only tests 2 and 3 will count towards Championships, TOC does not count. For FEI Gold Riders, highest 2 scores ridden over the 2 days of the show. Walk/Trot level is not eligible for Championships. The committee reserve the right to combine championships with 3 or less competitors. High Percentage Award: to be presented to the single highest percentage score in both Bronze and Gold competitions combined for both days. Freestyles are not included in the High Test Award. Walk/Trot level is not eligible for High Point.

Freestyle Award: to be presented to the combined highest percentage over both days. Bronze, Gold and FEI combined. Gold tests are eligible for Dressage Canada Competitions EIGHT Award sponsored by Dominion Regalia and for Dressage Canada Achievement Awards. MISCELLANEOUS Camping will be available on the grounds free of charge. There are no hook-ups available. Washroom facilities are available. Due to a formal complaint made no vehicles will be allowed to be moved from behind the Judges booth in the Gold ring during the show. The roadway will be blocked off and will be only accessible on foot. We ask that you ensure that if you need to move your vehicle that it is parked in one of the other allocated parking areas.
