RIDING FOR THE DISABLED NEW SOUTH WALES STATE DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS The following riders are eligible to enter this competition: RDANSW Dressage Championships All registered members (whether classified or not) of an RDA Centre within NSW All registered Associated members (whether classified or not) of RDA New South Wales All Pony Club NSW Members with a disability Interstate RDA Members must be supported by State Association and entered as a group The dressage tests being utilised are sourced from Para- FEI tests and Australia Para- tests (for sections B, C & D only). All and IV tests are conducted in a 20 x 60 metre arena, including tests. Each Grade will be divided into sections: Section A Section B Section C Section D Registered Classified, RDA Centre, Associate Rider, PCANSW Rider Registered Classified RDA Centre, Associate Rider, PCANSW Rider Registered Classified or unclassified, RDA Centre or Associate Riders & Pony Club NSW Members with a diagnosable disability Registered unclassified RDA Centre or Associate riders & Pony Club NSW Members with a diagnosable disability that would like to participate in an Introductory Test Section A and B riders must ride within their classification. Section C Riders includes any rider who does not have an RDA classification, at the date of the championships, or a classified rider, who feels they are not capable of riding within their own Grade or is riding a horse not competing at their Grade level. Section D riders will participate in one test only and are not eligible for Championship awards. Any riders sharing a horse with other Section riders will compete in the draw after that rider. In some circumstances members of another organisation may be eligible to compete in this event upon agreement with that organising committee and RDANSW. Members of these other organisations will not be eligible for RDANSW Championship awards. RDANSW Dressage Championships CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. The event will be conducted in accordance with the current RDA NSW Dressage Rules, FEI and EA Para-equestrian Rules. 2. Stallions are permitted however not permitted to be ridden by RDANSW Centre or PCANSW riders. Stallions must abide by Australia Stallion Safe Practices Guidelines at all times and be under the control of a competent handler. Green Discs must be displayed at all times. Stallions must be stabled. 3. Eligibility a. This competition is open to all RDA Classified and Unclassified Centre/Associated riders and Pony Club NSW members with a diagnosable disability. b. Interstate RDA riders can ride at the RDANSW State Dressage Championships covered by their own state or centre insurance policies. Please provide, upon entry, an endorsed insurance policy made out in favour of RDANSW, no liability will be accepted by RDANSW. No entry forms can be accepted without the endorsed policies. c. Riders, competing in Sections A or B, must ride in their Para classification. d. If a rider is unclassified or unable to ride in their classified group, they may enter Section C. e. Section C riders cannot compete across grades. f. Riders may compete in the State Championships if they reach their 12 th birthday in the year of the Championships. There is no upper age limit. g. If riders are under the age of 12 and will not reach their 12 th birthday in the Championship year, they are eligible to compete in the Junior Championship. (also see Rule 10) h. The RDANSW State Dressage Championship Organising Committee may exclude any entrants with Stallions from participating in the competition if at any time the Stallion Safe Practices guidelines are not followed or any entrant if their horse is deemed out of control or not in control by a competent horse handler. 4. Qualification required All Riders new to this competition must supply evidence of two results within the past two years, these must be two separate events, with their State entry. Results must be 55% or above and may be obtained from Video, Internal, Regional or Open competitions. Competitors are encouraged to provide results from the most recent events attended. Riders competing in Introductory tests must supply at least one result from a previous video, internal, regional or open competition. 5. Entry Fee - Entry fee is payable at time of entry. 6. Late Entries Late entries will be accepted only if they are registered be accepted at the discretion of the Committee prior to 19 th July and must be accompanied with a $50.00 surcharge. 7. Withdrawals/Scratchings - should be lodged as early as possible by email dressage@rdansw.org.au to enable the draw to be updated. Entry Fees will only be refunded if such requests are received prior to closing date for entries, 19 th July 2013. All Veterinary/Medical withdrawals must be accompanied by a certificate and may be entitled to stable and accommodation cost refunds if notified by 22 nd August 2013. 8. Change of Horse - Horses may be changed, only if a second horse has been nominated on the entry form. The Dressage Secretary must be informed of the change by the 9th August 2013. Substitutions after this date must be referred to Louise Neill dressage@rdansw.org.au. Only the 2 nd horse, nominated on the entry form will be accepted as a substitution. Such applications must state reason for change and be accompanied by suitable supporting documentation i.e. vet certificate. Substitutions will only be accepted upon a vote from the committee. Under normal circumstances a horse cannot be changed after the closing date. 9. Placings and Trophies Place ribbons will be awarded to 4 th place. Ribbons and Trophies will be awarded to Grade Championship, Section C Championship Rider and Junior Championship Rider. Rosettes will be awarded to Overall Grade Championship. Reserve Championships will be awarded according to rules stated in this schedule. 10. Centre/Associate RDA riders with an unclassifiable medical condition, may also compete at this competition. (These riders will only be accepted on the discretion of the organising committee and must ride in Section C.) Applications to compete, must be accompanied by supporting medical documentation and riders must ride at the level they are competing in open competition. Page 4 of 9

RDANSW Dressage Championships 11. All Section C Riders are to provide copies of documentation evidencing the level they are competing at with their entry form (eg: a copy of latest test result). 12. Profile 39 Riders currently under the Para- International rules, Profile 39 Riders are not recognised, however in this competition are expected to ride in Grade 3 competitions. If a profile 39 Rider feels they are unable to compete at Grade 3 level they are welcome to compete in Section C and choose the level they feel most comfortable. 13. Riders currently riding with an RDA Centre, must have at least one RDA coach accompany them. Riders may utilise their own coach, but must advise their Chef d Equipe prior to arriving at the venue. 14. Equipment used must conform to RDA NSW rules & EA Para- rules. Contact the Dressage Secretary for confirmation of special equipment. 15. Teams - A Team may comprise of up to 4 Riders, with the best three percentages to count. A Team must comprise of at least 2 Grades with at least one rider from Grades 1a, 1b or 2 being included. A Team must also include 1 Section C Rider. The percentage from the Preliminary test will be will be utilised in the calculation of this event. The teams must be nominated no later than 2 hours PRIOR to the commencement of the first Preliminary tests IN WRITING to the Dressage Secretary. Composite Centre & Pony Cub Member or Individual Centre Teams are allowed. All riders/centres are encouraged to enter this event. 16. Riding of Horses for warm up a. Horses for Grades Ia, Ib, and 2 may be ridden and schooled for up to twenty minutes per day by the trainer/coach or another rider designated by the competing rider s Centre. The total time allowed for the above training will be carefully observed and regulated by Stewards. Horses may not be schooled by the above riders unless an Official Steward is present. The warm up rider must be nominated on the entry form no variance will be allowed without appropriate supporting documentation being provided. A decision will be made by the Dressage Committee as to whether or not a change will be permitted b. Horses for Grade 3 and 4 can only be warmed up by the competitor. 17. A rider should wear: a. Light coloured jodhpurs or riding pants. b. Long or short boots. c. Shirt & Tie or Stock. d. Riding Jacket, Centre coloured windcheater or vest. e. Gloves should be worn wherever possible. f. AS/NZS 3838 or ASTNF 1163 Helmet. g. Safety Helmet and boots must be worn at all times whilst mounted, by all riders. 18. Gear check is compulsory before each and every test. Riders should report for gear checking no later than 10 minutes before their allocated draw times. 19. It is the rider s responsibility to ensure they are on time for their tests. Late arrivals may incur elimination. 20. Riders or their representative should report to the Chief Judge located at C and then remaining judges located around the arena before execution of each test. Entering the arena before the bell has been sounded could incur elimination. Please walk around the outside of the arena to report to the judges. 21. Section A & B Riders may only ride each test once. Section C riders may nominate to ride the same test twice however this second test will be non-competitive, will not place and will not count towards the Section C Championship and trophy. 22. A horse may only be ridden by one Rider within any Grade, whether by a graded or ungraded rider. 23. An individual horse may only be used for a total of 5 tests over the weekend, i.e. 2 Team tests plus one freestyle on the Saturday and 2 championship tests on the Sunday. 24. A Rider may only enter consecutive tests within their Grade/Section. 25. A Rider may not ride more than 2 tests (per horse). This does not include the. a. Section C riders are encouraged to compete in the. Section C riders must ride the Test appropriate for the grade they are competing in Page 5 of 9

RDANSW Dressage Championships GENERAL INFORMATION Only Competitors or those listed on the entry form as warm up riders are only permitted to ride horses at the venue for grades 1a, 1b and 2 only. Warm-up riders must be nominated on the entry form. A time draw will be emailed to all competing RDA Centres or individually, if requested with an e-mail address supplied. Bridle numbers will be allocated in the draw. Bridle Number kits must be used and should purchased at a saddlery prior to the event. An unmounted presentation will be held at the conclusion of each days competition. It is expected this will take place 1 hour after the conclusion of the days competition. Correct riding attire must be worn - helmets optional. will be awarded on the Sunday. Tack Room competition Centres and Individuals & PCANSW Members are encouraged to decorate their team tack room with appropriate items e.g. Centre colours, information about riders and their horses etc. A prize will be presented to the best decorated tack room. Presentation will be held at the conclusion of the event. Callers are permitted in all Sections EXCEPT Section A within Grades 3 & 4 Friday Night Welcome: There will be an Event briefing and Welcome at 7pm on Friday 23 rd August. BYO Dinner - Access to the Riders Retreat Kitchen and BBQ will be available for use. Riders Forum: The RDANSW Riders Representative will be holding a Rider s forum on Saturday afternoon at the conclusion of the presentation. Time to be confirmed. Saturday Night Dinner: Presentation of 2013 RDANSW Video Dressage Competition results. BYO Dinner - Access to the Riders Retreat Kitchen and BBQ will be available for use. Sharing the Venue: This event will be held in conjunction with the Andalusian Horse Association Australia NSW Open Dressage Competition on Sunday 25 th August. There will be limited access to the Riders Retreat on Sunday 25 th as it will be the AHAANSW Competition Office. Competitors wishing to compete in the Para- section of the AHAA competition may do so by entering both events separately. Competitors will only be riding the tests associated with both events once with results to be carried by both organisations. Please be mindful that there will be increased horse and vehicle traffic around the venue on this day. FREESTYLE TESTS open to all riders. CD s must be handed to a dressage committee representative at the Secretary s desk by 9am on Saturday the day of the competition. It is suggested that competitors have a second identical CD (preferably on a different brand of CD) on the day. Please ensure only the music to be played is on the disc and no other tracks are to be recorded thereon. Please check your CD s to ensure they are in correct working order. A sound check will be conducted on Friday 23 rd August between 4pm & 6pm. Riders are permitted to ride on the outside of the arena. Please indicate on the entry form if you will be attending the sound check. Each CD must: (a) Clearly show the Name, Grade and Section of the competitor. (b) Indicate when the music is to be started (i.e. when the rider holds up their hand, when helper indicates.) (c) There must be no other recordings on this CD, except that required for the Test. Commercially recorded CDs, or multiple recorded CDs will be returned as unacceptable. A CD WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF ALL THE ABOVE IS NOT ADHERED TO. Page 6 of 9

RDANSW Dressage Championships FEES ALL THESE FEES MUST ACCOMPANY YOUR ENTRY USE SUMMARY SHEETS SUPPLIED Entry fee: The entry fee payable for Championship riders is $110.00. Riders competing in an Introductory test only must pay an Entry fee of $40. Late entries will incur a $50.00 surcharge which is not refundable. Stables: Bedding will need to be purchased at $12.50/bale*; it is recommended that 5 bales be purchased. Stabling will be available for a fee of $32.00 per night. Sydney International Centre (SIEC) requires a $75.00 bond on each stable. This bond is refundable upon inspection by a SIEC Official and the Stable Manager PRIOR to your departure. This inspection is to ensure that you leave the stable THOROUGHLY CLEAN. *Cost of bedding is subject to change if done so by SIEC suppliers. Day Stay: $22.00 per horse per day to tie up to a float. Manure and area near day float stay users must be cleaned up before daily departure. Sydney International Centre (SIEC) requires a $30.00 bond for each day stay = $60.00 for two days. This bond is refundable upon inspection by a SIEC Official and the Stable Manager PRIOR to your departure. This inspection is to ensure that you leave the day stay area THOROUGHLY CLEAN. Tack Rooms: One tack room will be allocated per 4 riders these are communal and will not be lockable. These are provided to eliminate the storage of equipment from the breezeway and it is expected each tack room will be left clean and free from debris at the end of the competition. Thank you for your co-operation and consideration of others. If you require a private tack room they are available for $40.00 each. Bond: A separate cheque for bond money is to be sent. This cheque will either be returned or destroyed (please state on entry form) if inspection by SIEC Official and the Stable Manager agree that the area is thoroughly clean, if the stable needs to be recleaned by RDANSW or SIEC the cheque will be banked. Accommodation: Twin share cabins are available for a cost of $38.00 per night. Powered camp sites are available for a cost of $22.00 per site per night. Power taken from two points is equal to two sites = $44.00 per night. The recharging of motorised scooters or lighting of inside of floats will also incur a $22.00 per night fee. Page 7 of 9

THE FOLLOWING STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS WILL BE MADE: NSW Dressage Championships RDANSW Grade Championship and Trophy Limited to RDANSW Registered Associate and Centre riders - Grades Ia, Ib, II, III & IV individually (Section A Riders) The rider with the highest total percentage from the Individual Championship test and the will be deemed to be the Champion. TACK ROOM COMPETITION Centres and Individuals are encouraged to decorate their team tack room with appropriate items e.g. Centre colours, information about riders and their horses etc. A prize will be presented to the best decorated tack room. Presentation will be held at the conclusion of the event. RDA National Championships RDANSW Riders competing in this event are eligible for selection to attend the RDA National Championships.
