Chapter Reports (Black Hills) The Black Hills Equestrian Association started the riding season with a dressage clinic at the home of Sally Amtmann. Craig Heckert was the clinican. Rivervale Farm hosted two hunter/jumper shows. The July show had about 12 riders. The September show had 22 riders attending. There are no immediate plans for any more fall or winter activities. (Central Colorado Chapter) The Spring Gulch horse trials went well despite not being able to have Steve Buckman build new jumps or sign off on the course design. Instead we had to get James Atkinson who does Colorado Horse Park. We had 84 starters 5 Prelim, 15 training, 24 Novice, 26 BN, 14 intro. A few clean up days before the horse trials helped make the course look great and new paint spruced up the jumps. We had two or three clean up days throughout the summer where we mowed some of the course and weed wacked in front of the fences. Our Fall benefit held October 11 th was also a great success. We ran a pair pace, combined test, and individual dressage tests. The combined test had a great turnout this year with more rides than the pair pace. The CT had 7 Novice/Training, 7 Novice, 20 Beginner Novice, 13 Elementary and 4 green as grass rides. Our riding events are done for the year, but we are getting ready for our awards banquet January 17 th, 2015 at Kirk Hall in Castle Rock. (Powder Basin) Powder basin Chapter has 70 members This year and is alive and well in Northern Wyoming. The year began with the sudden death of Don Gerlach who had been a member since 1999 and a driving force at the Equestrian Park. Member rallied together and we held our annual Spring Indoor Hunter/Jumper Show and Clinic in April. Teresa Craig re took the reins to organize the horse trials in July. As Steve Buckman could not come for course Design, so the club elected to not run the Prelim Division and keep the same tracks as last year. We had the biggest horse trials ever, with 94 entries. Robin Fisher judged and Wendy Wergeles was our TD, Robin staying afterwards to clinic. One of the last things Don worked on was a veiwing berm at the east end of our new dressage ring, and we had a beautiful memorial to him at the horse trials, dedicating the berm to him with and original wrought iron engraved bench donated by Colts Unlimited and a rock cairn that can be added to by all. Jamie Gilbert has taken on the Organizer job for the 2015 horse trials and we have contracted
Greg Schlappi to redesign the course and build some new fences. He will be coming at the end of october. We are also going to redo the footing in the new dressage arena to make it more all weather. We continue to hold clinics, schooling shows and gatherings at our Equestrian Park. Check out our website for whats happening at www.powderbasinequestrian.com (Windy Wyoming) Windy Wyoming has just reorganised, they are working on new bylaws, they have new officers and are finding out where their show equipment is located. They are curently working with Pony Club to maintain their course and have not decided on recognizing their horse trials this year! Looking for great things this year. Omnibus Laurie Prindle has printed 400 copies for 2015, 50 copies went to tax stores. WE STILL NEED HELP getting advertizing and listing for omnibus Awards Thanks to Leslie Terry for doing a fantastic job on the MSEA Awards. She reworked the awards program In the new By Laws and has diligently collected trophies, ribbons and keepers. I know she has had to redo some of the trophies to be ready for the Spring Awards Banquet. MSEA Inc. cannot thank Leslie Terry enough for everything she does Communications We are still working on a weak area in communications. By Laws Thanks to Dick Farmer and his wonderful crew we have new By Laws for 2015 Distinguished Service Award We had a wonderful set of canidatets for the the 2014 Distinguished Service Award. The board elected Mike Sutak for the award. Congradulations!!!! A well deserved honor.
Officers Vote Libby Stokes Was voted in for president for a span of two years and Alexandra Anwyl Davis was voted in for secretary for 2 years also. Eductation We have a new educational chairman, Linda Millisor. She did a terrific job on the Marc Donovan Clinic this Fall, she will be doing another clinic for the MSEA Fall Meeting this 2015 year. This was a partnership with USEA Area IX, Area IX and MSEA donated $500.00 each and the rest of the costs were coverd by pertisipants in the clinic. This was a great way to join forces for the betterment of the sport. Marc Donovan was a great clinician! I thank all the demo riders and the Pendragon Equestrian Center for making this Clinic possible. USEA Metting in December 2014 We had Susan and Dick Farmer, Libby Stokes. Deeda Randle (our new area chairman) Rochelle Constanza, Gennifer Giustina, Dan Michaels, were present in Fort Worth, Texas in December (report to follow in Spring meeting) Dan Michaels did a great report on Lory State Park in one of the meetings.
