COWBOY ACTION NEWS The Monthly Publication of the Lone Star Frontier Shooting Club & The Comanche Valley Vigilantes The Ormsby Ranch, Cleburne, Texas July 2010 JULY 2010 Cowboy Action Shooting Calendar Saturday 10 th & Sunday 11 th LSFSC Monthly Match Begin Signup 8:30 am Safety Meeting - 9:15 am Match Starts 9:30 am Saturday 17 th & Sunday18 th Old Fort Parker Patriots Sunday 18 th Arlington Sportmans Club Saturday 46 th & Sunday 25 th CVV Monthly Match Begin Signup 8:30 am Safety Meeting - 9:00 am Match Starts 9:30 am From THE EDITOR WILLIE EARP The newsletter is a bit scant this month but don t worry, future issues should be better I did not have the inputs for Lone Star (President s Column or the Shooting Scores) in time for publication. FROM The CVV President Billy Bob Evans SASS# 53658 Hi every one! I hope everyone who went to End Of Trail had a good time and shot well, I have been three times and have had a blast every time. I have a correction from last months news letter, I indicated the Calico Calie may be stepping down as treasure, well she told me that was incorrect and wanted to stay on as treasure. Denton Dancer does want to step down as secretary, and move into the role of range officer. Now we are thinking two range officers so responsibilities is spread over two people. I am also thinking of doing the same thing with the Vice President position. I know it is early to be talking about this, but this gives anyone who is thinking about becoming more involved a chance to talk to us to get an idea of what is involved. Now for Showdown, we have been doing a lot of work on it. There is not a lot to do to the range. We may have one work day next month to get things ready but everything is in good shape. We have ordered five nice guns, and one has already arrived. The other four should be here next week. Included in the guns are a pair of Open Top 4 3/4in 38s that will be given a way as a pair. We requested them to be consecutive serial numbers, but I do not know if that will happen till we get them. Then two lucky Cowboys or Cowgirls will win a Stoeger double barrel shotgun and one lucky Cowboy or Cowgirl will win a 22 revolver. The way we plan to give them away is every shooter will have one chance to win. If your name is drawn, you will reach in a hat and pull out a card that tells you which item you have won. There will be other items in the hat depending on what is donated or what we have the money to get. We have already one very nice donation, a cap and ball revolver and everyone who donates will be listed as a sponsor. There will also be a drawing just for all the folks who help with the match. One thing simple rules for the drawing: club officers will not be eligible for the main drawing. A second drawing will be held for folks that help with the match including club officers. You MUST be present at the main drawing to win. If you have not registered yet the form is available in the newsletter, on our website or at the range. Registration can be brought to any of the matches including the day of the match (pre-registration is preferred). Mailing instructions are on the form. Hope to see you all there!
