J24 Fleet 182 Blue Point, NY Greetings, We are excited that the 2016 J/24 U.S. National Championship will be held on the Great South Bay in Blue Point, New York and hosted by the Sayville Yacht Club May 11-15, 2016. We are actively soliciting sponsors for this event. This sailing regatta provides opportunities to promote both local and national businesses to the national boating community. The Sayville Yacht Club was approved by the J/24 class association to host this event. The 2016 regatta will be attended by J/24 owners from across North America with racing and social events over five days. The Great South Bay and Sayville Yacht Club have played host to many national and international championships over the past decades. We look forward to showing the J/24 class the spectacular sailing conditions and hospitality this venue has to offer. As has been the case in the past we expect fifty (50) J/24s from districts across the US and Canada, including California, Chesapeake Bay, Gulf Coast, Halifax Canada, Northern New England, Eastern Great Lakes, Long Island Sound, as well as local boats from the Southern New England area. The J/24 has been manufactured from 1977 to the present and number nearly 6000. The J/24 is considered the most successful one-design production sailboat ever created. J Boats are popular sailboats known for their quality design, construction and impressive performance over other boats of similar size. They have a tremendous following and very active class association of over 3600 members that include world champion sailors located in 30 nations. Championship events attract 50-100 boats regularly. According to an article on Bloomberg.com boat owners will spend at least 10 percent of the total value of their boat each year to cover additional expenses. The additional money will be spent on items to maintain and operate these boats. Some of the items are such things as insurance, fuel, hardware, tools, sails, apparel, footwear, cars & trucks for boat transportation, food and drink, etc. With this in mind the potential for return on your sponsorship investment will not only allow you to reach the participants in this race but the national/international consumer through such avenues as the J24 Class website, social media and the news media that will be covering this event. The Sayville Yacht Club is proud to be the host of the 2016 J/24 Nationals. The SYC has the facilities and expertise to host an event of this caliber. The Club has the indoor and outdoor facilities to accommodate the expected crowd of 300+ sailors for the social events, dinners, and award ceremonies associated with an event such as this. The membership is committed to making the 2016 J/24 Nationals a success that the class will remember for years to come. We are actively seeking sponsorship in the form of financial contributions, beverages, photography services, merchandise contributions and other in-kind product / service donations. I ask that you review the sponsorship opportunities described on the attachment, and consider supporting our 2016 event. There are opportunities both large and small and we look forward to working with you to ensure a mutually beneficial strategic partnership. A member of our sponsorship committee will contact you to determine what level of sponsorship best meets your needs. Sincerely, Joseph Buonasera 2016 J/24 Nationals Regatta Chairman
