The Moreno Valley native scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, while pulling down 12 rebounds, and she recorded nine blocked shots. She had eight blocks in the first half alone. Ederaine nonetheless has now recorded nine double-doubles on the team to lead the team. She is currently averaging a double-double at 12.4 ppg, and 10.1 rpg, while recording an average of 4.4 blocks-per-game, third best in the country. TIP OFF: The University of San Diego women s basketball team (18-4, 9-3 WCC) will remain at home on Saturday, as they host Pepperdine University in a 2 p.m. WCC game inside of the friendly confines of the Jenny Craig Pavilion. LAST TIME OUT: Behind a near triple-double from senior forward Sophia Ederaine, and three other Toreros scoring in double figures, the University of San Diego women's basketball team cruised to a 68-49 win over Loyola Marymount University Thursday evening in a West Coast Conference game at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. With the win, the Toreros improve to 18-4 overall, move to 9-3 in the WCC and have now won three consecutive games, and four of their last five. With the loss, the Lions fall to 3-20 overall, and move to 1-11 in the WCC. Ederaine almost recorded her second triple double of the season, as she recorded 12 points, while pulling down 10 rebounds, and she fell just one block shy of a triple double with nine. Katelyn McDaniel also had a monster night, as she scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, and she pulled down 11 rebounds. Malina Hood was hot from beyond the arc tonight, as she recorded a game-high 18 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including hitting 4-of-7 three pointers. Maya Hood was the final Torero in double figures, as she had 10 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field. As a team, USD shot 38.2% from the field, and out rebounded the Lions 49-42. For LMU, Olivia Lucero and Makenzie Cast each scored a team-best 11 points, while Leslie Lopez-Wood was the third LMU player in double figures with 10. As a team, the Lions shot a dismal 24.6% from the field on 14-of-57 shooting. A LOOK AHEAD: On Thursday, USD will begin one of the toughest stretches of the season, a 7 p.m. game at Pacific, who is currently 1/2 game behind USD in the standings, followed by a showdown with second place Saint Mary's on Saturday in Moraga, Calif. at 1 p.m.

The Waves lead the all-time series at 39-30, but the Toreros have won the last nine meetings. Pepperdine's offense is paced by Bria Richardson, who is averaging 15.2 ppg, while shooting.399 from the field. The Toreros offense was paced by Hood's 18 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, and she pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds. McDaniel was the next Torero with a doubledouble, as she scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in her first start of the season. Sophia Ederaine just missed being the third Torero with a double-double, as she had nine points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Kathernie Hamilton was the final Torero in double figures, as she had 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field. As a team, USD shot 37.3% from the field, and out rebounded the Waves 55-31. In the first half, the Toreros came out on fire, as a Malina Hood 3-pointer sparked a 7-2 USD run over the first 1:18 of the game. The Waves however responded with a 16-0 run over the next six plus minutes to take complete control of the game and grab an 18-7 lead with 12:00 to go. The Waves would go on to build up a lead to as many as 12 on a few occasions, with the last one coming at 30-18 with 5:13 to go. Then the Toreros caught fire, as a Hamilton lay-up sparked a 13-2 run over the remaining five minutes to pull the Toreros to within one at 32-31, heading into the break. In the second half, USD opened up the frame on a 14-4 run to take a 9-point lead with 15:27 to go, and they took complete control of the momentum. The Waves then answered right back with a 6-0 run, to pull back to within three, with just 14:09 to go. A Malina Hood jumper then sparked a 12-3 San Diego run that gave the Toreros their biggest lead of the game, 12, at 57-45 with 6:55 to go. Pepperdine would then manage to get back to within three one time, but could get no closer, as USD was just to strong to overcome down the stretch.

2014-15 San Diego Weekly Release 2012-13 2014-15 Torero Notes notes www.usdtoreros.com FOLLOW THE TOREROS! Fans can keep up with the latest in Torero athletics by following us on Facebook (Facebook.com/USDToreros), Twitter (@USDToreros), Instagram (USDToreros) and YouTube.com (YouTube.com/USDToreros). The women's basketball team has also established its own official Facebook (Facebook.com/USDWBB), and Twitter (@USDWBB). McDANIEL SCORES A SEASON-HIGH: Senior forwad Katelyn McDaniel had quite the performance in Thursday's win over LMU. McDaniel recorded a season-high 17 points in the win on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, while pulling down 11 rebounds. This marked her second double-double of the season. RECORD WATCH: San Diego senior forward Sophia Ederaine currently has 100 blocks on the season, which is a career-high for her, and currently the second best single-season blocks total in USD history. The record is 137, currently held by Chris Enger, which was set in the 1992-93 season. In order for Ederaine to reach that number, she needs to average 5.29 blocks-per-game over the remaining seven guaranteed games USD has. Now should USD advance past the first round of the WCC tournament, and or make a postseason run, this average per-game drops. But Ederaine over the past five games has averaged 6.6 bpg, so it is very attainable before the regular-season ends. Now as for the all-time career blocked shots mark, Ederaine would need to average 11.1 blocks-per-game over the final seven guaranteed games to tie the record, held by Enger. Currently, Ederaine is second-all-time with 372. MALINA AND THE THREE: Junior sharp shooter Malina Hood continues to be a threat from the 3-point line, as she currently has 62 three-pointers made this season, which is the third best in USD single-season history. Hood also currently holds the single-season record of 69, set last season. Hood has also recorded 140 career three-pointers, good for fourth best in program history. The career- 3-pointer's made mark is 200, held by Kerri Nakamoto (1999-2003). INSIDE THE NUMBERS: San Diego, as a team, as well as a few individuals are amongst the national statistical leaders. As a team, USD is second nationally in offensive rebounds per game at 18.0, and second nationally in blocked shots per game at 7.3...Sophia Ederaine is third nationally in blocked shots per game at 4.4, and Malina Hood is fourth nationally in three-point field goals-per-game at 3.10. WCC STANDINGS UPDATE: The top half of the conference standings after 12 games is still a jumbled mess. Gonzaga has managed to remain perfect at 11-0, and just 1.5 games back is BYU, with Saint Mary's two games back. USD is in third place at 9-3, and Pacific is a half a game back from USD in fifth. Then USF comes in sixth place at 5-7. The remainder of the teams have two wins or less. USD needs to continue to win, if they are in hopes of winning their first ever regular-season WCC title, or to capture the No. 2 seed in the WCC tournament. ABOUT THE RECORD: San Diego is currently 18-4 on the season, which is tied for the best start in program history with both the 2006-07 team, and last season's team. USD is now approaching the 20-win mark, and if they achieve that it, will mark a fourth consecutive season in which USD has recorded 20 or more wins. That has never happened in pogram history. 2014-15 West Coast Conference Standings WCC OVERALL TEAM W L W L H A N Gonzaga 11 0 18 4 10-1 8-1 0-2 BYU 10 2 18 5 9-2 7-2 2-1 Saint Mary s 9 2 16 6 8-3 8-3 0-0 SAN DIEGO 9 3 18 4 9-2 10-2 0-0 Pacific 8 3 16 6 8-2 7-4 1-0 San Francisco 5 7 14 9 9-5 5-4 0-0 Portland 2 9 4 18 3-7 0-11 1-0 Santa Clara 2 10 7 14 2-6 3-8 2-0 Pepperdine 1 11 6 17 1-9 4-8 1-0 Loyola Marymount 1 11 3 20 2-9 0-11 0-0 2014-15 TORERO STARTING LINE-UPS Date Opponent Result Starters 11/15 CS San Marcos W, 82-42 Hood, Jelniker, Ederaine, Woodward, Hamilton 11/18 CS Fullerton W, 60-54 Hood, Jelniker, Ederaine, Woodward, Hamilton 11/22 Idaho W, 58-52 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Hamilton 11/25 Montana State W, 79-64 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Hamilton 11/28 Fresno State L, 93-88 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Hamilton 12/1 Dartmouth W, 78-53 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Hamilton 12/6 Weber State W, 59-50 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Hamilton 12/9 San Diego State W, 88-66 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Woodward 12/12 Seattle W, 59-54 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Woodward 12/14 UC Irvine W, 87-64 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Woodward 12/27 Portland W, 87-65 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Woodward 12/29 Gonzaga L, 67-49 Hood,Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Woodward 1/1 San Francisco W, 56-55 Hood, Jelniker, Ederaine, Hood, Hamilton 1/3 Santa Clara W, 72-59 Hood, Jelinker, Ederaine, Hood, Woodward 1/8 Pepperdine W, 68-64 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Wodward, Hood 1/10 LMU W, 67-59 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Woodward, Hood 1/15 Saint Mary's L, 57-56 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Woodward, Hood 1/17 Pacific W, 56-52 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Hamilton, Hood 1/24 BYU L, 54-50 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Woodward, Hood 1/29 Santa Clara W, 64-61 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Woodward, Hood 1/31 San Francisco W, 74-69 McDaniel, Hood, Ederaine, Woodward, Hood 2/5 LMU 2/7 Pepperdine 2/12 Pacific 2/14 Saint Mary's 2/21 BYU 2/26 Gonzaga 2/28 Portland 2014-15 TORERO DOUBLE-DOUBLES Sophia Ederaine (13 pts., 10 reb.)... vs. CSU Fullerton (11/18/14) Sophia Ederaine (13 pts., 13 reb)... vs. Idaho (11/22/14) Sophia Ederaine (13 pts., 12 reb)... vs. Montana State (11/25/14) Maya Hood (14 pts., 11 reb.)... vs. Montana State (11/25/14) Sophia Ederaine (24 pts., 13 reb.)...vs. Fresno State (11/28/14) Sophia Ederaine (15 pts., 14 reb.)...vs. Seattle (12/12/14) Sophia Ederaine (13 pts., 11 reb.)...vs. Gonzaga (12/29/14) Maya Hood (10 pts., 10 reb.)... vs. Santa Clara (1/3/15) Maya Hood (18 pts., 12 reb.)... vs. Pepperdine (1/8/15) Katelyn McDaniel (14 pts., 12 reb.)... vs. Pepperdine (1/8/15) Sophia Ederaine (14. pts., 13 reb.)...vs. BYU (1/24/15) Sophia Ederaine (16 pts., 11 reb.)...vs. San Francisco (1/31/15) Sophia Ederaine (12 pts., 10 reb.)...vs. Loyola Marymount (2/5/15) Katelyn McDaniel (17 pts., 11 reb.)...vs. Loyola Marymount (2/5/15) 2014-15 TORERO TRIPLE-DOUBLES Sophia Ederaine (21 pts., 23 reb, 10 blk)... vs. Pacific (1/17/15)

Besides ranking second on the team in scoring, Hood set a new USD single-season record for three-pointers made with 69. Last season, Hood worked her way into the starting line-up and never left. Hood scored in double figures 21 times this past season en route to an All-WCC honorable mention accolade. THEW.TV: This season San Diego will be featured on the West Coast Conference's new digital platform, TheW.tv, 16 times. All 16 of these productions will have a multi-camera high definition broadcast with Paula Bott calling all the live play-by-play, and returning after a 2-year hiatus to provide color commentary, will be Torero Hall of Famer Susie (Erpelding) Barosso. USD will have all 15 home games live on TheW.tv, as well as a select few road games. The Toreros will also be on BYUTV when they travel to in Provo on Jan. 24, as they take on NCAA Tournament Sweet-16 participant BYU. TOREROS TABBED THIRD: The University of San Diego women's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the West Coast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, while also receiving one first place vote. Gonzaga was tabbed as the favorite with BYU picked to finish second. Pacific was picked to finish fourth, followed by Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Portland, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine and Santa Clara. San Diego was picked third, while receiving one first place vote and 65 total points. The Toreros advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2014 WNIT postseason to finish the season with a 24-9 overall record. Junior guard Malina Hood (12.7 ppg) earned a spot on the preseason squad after her breakout season a year ago. Besides ranking second on the team in scoring, Hood set a new USD single-season record for three-pointers made with 69. THREE STRAIGHT 20-WIN SEASONS: With the 59-52 win over Portland on Feb. 15, 2014 the Toreros posted their third consecutive 20- win season, and fourth overall 20-win season in program history. Two season's ago, when USD won its 20th game, it marked back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time ever. So new heights continue for the Toreros under 10th-year head coach Cindy Fisher. This string of 20-win seasons has ended like this... In 2011-12, USD finished with a programbest 26-9 overall record, and a trip the Final Four of the WNIT...then in 2012-13, USD posted a 22-10 overall record and reached the second round of the WNIT...and finally the 2013-14 squad reached the Sweet 16 of the WNIT, and posted a record of 24-9, the second best record in program history.

Cindy Fisher was named the University of San Diego head women's basketball coach on April 19, 2005. In her ninth year at the helm of the Torero women's basketball program, Fisher helped lead USD to an overall record of 24-9, the second most wins in program history, and reached the Sweet 16 round of the WNIT for the second time in three years. USD opened the season with a perfect 15-0 record, which led to the programs fist-ever national ranking of No. 24 in both the Associate Press and Coaches top- 25 polls. The 15-0 start was the best not only in program history, but for any athletic team at USD in the division I era. The WNIT appearance marked the first time in program history that USD has made three consecutive postseason appearances. Under the watchful eye of head coach Cindy Fisher, the Toreros had three players take home All-WCC honors, highlighted by first-teamer Amy Kame. In her eighth season at the helm of the program in 2012-13, Cindy Fisher managed to do something no other coach in the history of the program had done before, the Toreros posted a second consecutive 20-win season. USD posted an overall record of 22-10, the second most wins in program history, and reached the second round of the WNIT. USD also had a 12-4 mark in the WCC, good for sole possession of second place in the West Coast Conference, and San Diego managed to reach the championship game of the WCC Tournament. This marked only the second time in program history that USD has made back-to-back postseason appearances, and both times have come under the watchful eye of Cindy Fisher. USD did all of this despite losing a pair of 1,000-point scorers, and the team's leading rebounder from the previous season's record setting team. Under coach Fisher's tutelage, the Toreros produced the WCC Freshman of the Year in Maya Hood, and had three total players earn All-WCC honors, highlighted by first-teamer Amy Kame. The 2011-12 season was a historical one for the Toreros, as it is now the greatest season in program history. Under Fisher's tutelage, the Toreros soared to new heights, and were in uncharted waters. USD posted a program best 26-9 overall record, posted a 12-4 mark in WCC play (the most wins in WCC play in program history) and they recorded the program's first ever post season win. Not only was the first ever post season win, but the Toreros advanced all the way to the Final Four of the WNIT, before falling to eventual WNIT champions Oklahoma State. With Fisher's guidance, USD saw Dominique Conners become the program's all-time leading scorer, as well as earn first-team All-WCC honors along with Morgan Woodrow. USD also saw Amy Kame take home All-WCC honorable mention accolades as well. Needless to say, this was USD's most exciting season in program history! In the 2010-11 season, Cindy Fisher had the team playing at its best basketball at the right time of year, as USD had an impressive run through the West Coast Conference Championships, winning two games in two days to advance to the semifinal game of the Championships against WCC-runner-up Saint Mary's. The Toreros then nearly pulled of a third straight victory to make the championship game, but a last second shot fell just short, which ended USD's season. Under Cindy Fisher's tutelage, both Sam Child and Dominique Conners earned All-WCC accolades, and Sam Child was named to the All-WCC Tournament team. In her fifth season, Cindy Fisher once again had her team playing its best at the right time of the season, as the Toreros had an unprecedented run in the WCC championships, winning three games in three days to reach the championship game for the second time in as many years. The Toreros produced three players to the All-WCC team and Dominique Conners was the lone freshman named to the All-WCC Tournament team. In her third season at the helm of the program, she guided the Toreros back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight years. The 2007-08 season also marks back-to-back post season appearances for the Toreros under Fisher's watch. Fisher helped lead USD to a 19-12 overall record and a West Coast Conference Tournament championship. She helped guide three players to All-WCC honors, with Amanda Rego and Amber Sprague each earning first-team honors and Sam Child being selected to the All-WCC freshman team. In only her second season at the helm of the program, Cindy Fisher orchestrated the biggest turn around in school history, a 12-game improvement from 9-19 in the 2005-06 season to a 21-9 record in 2006-07 season. The turn around was the fourth best in the nation. USD has set a lot of records along the way as they have recorded the first- HEAD COACH CINDY FISHER ever 20-win season in program history, finished second place in the West Coast Conference for the first time in program history and had the best overall start in program history at 6-0 and in conference play at 6-0. Under her tutelage, the Toreros placed three players on the All-WCC lists highlighted by Amanda Rego being named the WCC Co-Player of the Year. Rego and Amber Sprague both took home first-team All-WCC honors and Morgan Henderson was named to the All-WCC Freshman team. For her efforts, fisher was named the 2007 WCC Co-Coach of the Year. During her first season at USD, the Toreros showed remarkable improvement. The Toreros did record a huge 15-point win over Santa Clara on the road and were close in games against Georgia Tech, Boise State and against Loyola Marymount in the first round of the WCC Championship Tournament. Fisher also helped guide Tiara Harris to an All-WCC selection and Kelly Winther to an All-WCC Freshman team selection. Fisher, the University of Nebraska's top assistant for two seasons, and former head coach for Wyoming between 1998-2003, became USD's third head coach dating back to the program's inception in 1978-79. She took over for Kathy Marpe who stepped down after directing the program for 25 years. Fisher helped lead Nebraska to back-to-back appearances in the WNIT during her two seasons with the Huskers. In 2004-05, the team finished 18-14 overall and 8-8 in the Big 12. The Huskers recorded the program's first win over a top-5 team with its 103-99 victory over eventual NCAA National Champion, Baylor, in January of 2005. They also posted Big 12 wins over No. 14 Iowa State and Oklahoma, both NCAA Tournament participants. Fisher recruited and coached Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, Jelena Spiric, and recruited and developed post player, Danielle Page, who earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors twice. Fisher's final recruiting class at Nebraska might have been her best, as she went deep into Alaska to find, recruit, and sign Big Twelve Player of the Year and first round draft pick Kelsey Griffin. During the 2003-04 campaign, the Huskers finished 18-12 overall, and produced one of the top 10 turnarounds in NCAA Division I women's basketball with 10 more victories. The team earned two wins over top 25 teams; the team cracked the top-25 national rankings for the first time since 1999; and the 2004 recruiting class was ranked 28th nationally. In five seasons as the head coach at Wyoming, Cindy Fisher compiled a 59-81 record. However, Fisher's accomplishments at Wyoming go well beyond her overall coaching record. Cindy Fisher's Cowgirl teams showed improvement in each of her five seasons, culminating with an 18-12 mark in 2002-03. The 18 wins were the school's most victories since 1989-90. She also led the Cowgirls to their first postseason appearance since 1989-90 with a trip to the 2003 WNIT, where Wyoming notched a first-round win over Montana. The WNIT win over Montana marked the first postseason victory in Wyoming women's basketball history. Her 2001-2002 team at Wyoming finished No. 1 in the country in academic excellence with a team GPA of 3.486. Before taking the job at Wyoming, Cindy Fisher spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Old Dominion. She served as the Lady Monarchs' recruiting coordinator and scheduling coordinator and prepared scouting reports, while also acting as the team's public relations liaison. During her three-year stint, ODU compiled a 92-8 record, including a 34-win season and a pair of 29-win seasons. Old Dominion advanced to the national championship game in 1997, and qualified for the Sweet 16 in each of her three seasons. Fisher also built up her coaching resume with stops at Weber State (1994-95), Mesa CC in Arizona (1988-90; 1993-94), and Illinois State (1992-93; graduate assistant, 1990-92). From Cheyenne, Wyoming, Cindy Fisher was a three-year starter at Cheyenne Central High School, before competing at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington. Her career was cut short by a hip injury, but she earned her associate's degree in 1984. She transferred to Arizona State and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Physiology in 1988. After graduation, she served as a physical education instructor at Mesa Community College from 1988 to 1990, before completing her Master's Degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Administration of Sport at Illinois State in 1992.
