01 Welcome and Intro Welcome to the Oceanman Dubai World Championship 2018. We must thank the Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Police for their help and support in pulling this race together. We ask that you read all the details outlined in this race information pack prior to the race and familiarise yourself with the courses and the rules. Please also make sure you attend the compulsory race briefing, as it is sometimes necessary for last minute changes to be made. That is also your opportunity to ask any questions. 04 Directions & Parking Oceanman Dubai World Championships 2018 are taking place at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah on Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai. As parking is limited in Jumeirah Beach Residence we advise using public transport or taxis to access the venue. Coming from Dubai/Abu Dhabi on Sheik Zayed Road please exit onto Al Marsa Street and follow the signage towards Hilton Hotel.

06 Registration Nov 15 2:00-8:00PM Timing System Timing antennas will be positioned at the exit points and at the finish line. We ll endeavour to provide you with all your timing splits, but this is not guaranteed. Very occasionally, a timing chip may not be read or a timing antenna may fail and timing splits may not be available. You ll receive a total finish time providing we can see your race number when you cross the finish line. If you withdraw during the event please make sure you return your timing chip, otherwise we will think you are still out there swimming! Race Results A set of results will be available on Oceanman website as soon as possible after the event. We hope they ll all be perfect but any queries relating to them should be emailed to us by the Tuesday after the event, after which time all results will be deemed as final and complete. Bag drop area You can leave your personal items at the bag drop area inside the athlete s village. Please make sure your Oceanman Dubai World Championship 2018 draw string bag has your race number clearly written on it. Bags can be collected after Oceanman Dubai World Championship 2018 is completed. Please note that we can not take any responsibility for your personal belongings. You can collect your race pack 1 day prior to the Oceanman Dubai World Championship 2018. Please follow the signage towards the Oceanman Dubai World Championship 2018 registration area located at Hilton Jumeirah Beach Residence Hotel. You will find your race number displayed on the information boards addressing the collection zone for your race pack. Pick up your registration drawstring bag from the RaceME officials. Your bag will contain: Timing Chip & Swim Cap The timing chip must be attached to your left ankle. Each wave will start with a differently coloured swim cap. Please make sure the colour of the swim cap in your race pack matches the colour shown on the information board. It is compulsory to wear these caps. Race Briefing on race day 6:00AM / 6:15AM / 6:30AM/ 6:45AM/ 7:00AM/ 7:15AM (designated briefing area within the athlete s village) There will be race briefings every 15 mins from 6:00am onwards. Please attend this as any last minute changes will be communicated. Compulsory Race Briefing & Pasta Party Race Briefing and Pasta Party will be at Hilton Jumeirah Beach Residence 730pm. Please make sure you book your ticket for the Pasta Party (AED 110/ EURO 26) by November 12 the latest.
07 Terms & Conditions Terms & Conditions The terms and conditions of entry are set out on the website at http://oceanman-openwater.com/races/dubai/. In entering this event, competitors have agreed to abide with these terms and conditions. Start Zone Please make sure you transfer to the starting zone of your race at least 10 mins prior to starting time. There will be sign boards clearly indicating the respective zones. Kindly follow the instructions of the race officials. No use of wetsuits/ Use of safety buoy Oceanman is a non-wetsuit event. The use of timing chip, swim cap (both inside your race bag) and safety buoy are mandatory, Cut Off Time 10K swim- 4hrs 30mins / 5K swim - 2hrs 30mins/ 1.5k swim - 1hr 30mins Upon reaching the cut off, swimmers will be pulled out of the water.
08 Rules & Regulations Rules & Regulations 4. No wetsuits or speed suits allowed. 5. Fins, paddles or any other swimming equipment are prohibited. 6. All swimmers must wear the official swimming cap with the designated color. 7. Start Corral is for competitors only 8. Swimmers littering will be disqualified. Keep the beach and the ocean clean! 1. You must have your personal buoy inflated at all times. Entrance to the start corral without an inflated buoy attached won t be permitted. 2. Swimmers must start and finish the race with the buoy inflated and attached. Failure to comply will result in DQ. 3. The usage of buoy is mandatory during the duration of the whole race. Swimmers not wearing an inflated buoy at any point of the race (including finish line) will be disqualified. 9. Preliminary results will be posted as soon as they are available. You have 15 minutes after the publication of the preliminary race results for any complaints. 10. Formal complaints must be directed to Jose Luis Larrosa, the main race official. Only the race official can make a decision in case of controversy and his decision is final 11. All official results are final. No complaints will be received once they are published.

14 Medical Advice UAE CLIMATE It is essential that you are aware of the weather conditions during the race. It is expected to be hot with very little, if any, shade. We will have ambulances on standby throughout the duration of the race but you must take care to race sensibly in such conditions. If you start to get headaches, feel dizzy and nauseous then you may be suffering from heat exhaustion and need to seek medical advice. Listen to your body. Seek attention of the nearest safety kayak/ boat who will be able to help you. The common symptoms of heat exhaustion include: confusion, muscle cramps, heavy sweating, headaches, nausea/vomiting and dizziness. If you become aware of these symptoms then seek medical help. Sufficient Hydration Please stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids in the days leading up to the race and remember to continue to take on fluids on the morning before the swim start. During the swim try to take on board about 500ml of fluids per hour. There will be water available from aid stations but please make sure you drink sufficient fluids before starting the race Sun Lotion Please make sure to protect yourself from the sun.
