By Train: Akard Station (Red, Blue, Orange or Green Line), followed by a short walk to Dallas City Hall Convention Center Station (Red or Blue Line), followed by a short walk to Dallas City Hall Parking: There are a number of parking garages and surface lots available for Turkey Trot participants to use on race day. STREET CLOSURE INFORMATION All lanes closed on Young Street between Akard and Browder Streets and between St. Paul Street and Park Ave from 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21 until 5 p.m. Thursday, November 22. Full closure of Young Street between Griffin Street and Harwood Street on Thursday, November 22, 2018 between 4 a.m. - 1 p.m. Streets along the route will close approx. 15 minutes before the first runner and will reopen as the last runner passes through. All races begin at 9 a.m. The 8-mile course travels east on Young Street, east on Canton Street, left on Hall Street, left on Main Street, left on Houston Street, right on Reunion Boulevard W, left on Hotel Street, right on Reunion Boulevard E (against eastbound traffic) left on Sports Street (against northbound traffic), left on North Drive, left on Hotel Street, right on Reunion Boulevard E, right on Houston Street, continues to Marsalis, makes a right on Colorado, left on Blaylock, right on E. 5th Street, right on Beckley Avenue, right on Zang Boulevard, continues to the Jefferson St. Viaduct, onto Market Street, makes a right on Young Street, right on Marilla Street returning to City Hall Plaza. The 5K run/walk travels east on Young Street, east on Canton Street, left on Hall Street, left on Main Street, left on Market Street, left on Wood Street, continues to Young Street (against traffic), and finishes east of Griffin Street on Young Street in front of the Aloft Hotel. The 1K Junior Trot Fun Run will travel west on Marilla Street, turn left on Young Street, travel toward the Griffin Street intersection and U-turn back to the finish line. 3
RACE DAY REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP Race Day registration and packet pickup opens at 7:00am on Thanksgiving Day. You can locate the registration and packet pickup tables at the northeast corner of Dallas City Hall Plaza. Look for balloon columns to indicate the entrance to the registration and packet pickup area. If you are picking up your packet on race day, please have the QR code sent in your registration confirmation email out when you approach the table. This will help the line move quickly. GUIDELINES FOR TIMED RUNNERS IN TIMED CORRAL Timed Wheelchair racers should enter the timed corral from the north side of Young Street, at the gate closest to Ervay. Only timed racers with appropriate racing-style wheelchair will be allowed to start at 8:55. Participants with hospital-style wheelchairs should line up in the untimed participant corral. UNTIMED START Untimed runners should begin to line up at the intersection of Young St. and S. Ervay St. Participants line up along Young Street with walkers, families with strollers, and dogs toward the back of the untimed corral. 5
JUNIOR TROT presented by Junior Trotters will line up on the outside of the 8-Mile finish line area. Look for balloon columns to indicate the Junior Trot staging area. Once participants have completed their race, they will be presented with a medal and proceed to the TruMoo tent for their post race refreshments and goody bag. SWAG (AKA MEDALS) We are pleased to have 6,000 traditional medals to present to the top runners in the 5K and 6,000 traditional medals for top runners in the 8-Mile race. PLUS another 15,000 PVC medals of the same design for the remaining participants in both races as a "Thank You" for joining us on Thanksgiving morning in support of the YMCA. COURSE CLOSING TIMES At 10:45a, all runners who have not passed Union station will be asked to take a shorter route. At 11:00am, The 8-mile course closes at mile 4. The race course is officially closed at noon. WINNER S TENT The top 3 Male, Female and Master winners will be presented with awards at the winner's tent at 10:00am. AGE GROUP AWARDS Age group awards will be mailed to participants after the race. We are unable to hand out age group awards on race day. 6
INFORMATION TENT The Information Tent is located near the pond, directly across from the large flag poles. Lost and found items should be turned in/retrieved at the Info Tent, including lost parents and found children. **Results will not be posted at the info tent. They will be posted online. DOG & STROLLER POLICY Participants with dogs and/or strollers are not permitted in the Timed Runner Corral. Participants with dogs and/or strollers should line up at the back of the run/walk pack. Let the runners get up ahead so all may enjoy the course safely. We recommend participants with dogs and/or strollers walk the course, however if you choose to run the course with your dog/stroller, please use extreme caution for the safety of your child, your dog and others running around you. We want all pups, kids and participants to complete the course safely. Only dogs who are well-socialized with other dogs and people should be brought to the Trot. For the safety of all, please use your good judgment knowing your dog s personality and behaviors. Dog owner/handlers must be 18 years of age or older. Dog owners/handlers may only be responsible for one dog at a time during the Trot. All dogs must be on an appropriate leash at all times. Fixed length/static leashes not longer than 3 feet should be used to prevent a hazard to other participants. Dog owner/handler is expected to be a responsible dog owner, provide appropriate water and pick up after their pet at all times. 7
