Golf News Happy February Everyone, Lessons Update: The winter has been brutal, however we are just a few months away from the season starting back up. If you haven t noticed already, the Ladies card room is set up with our indoor hitting mat and net for practice. The room is available during our open hours to hit and practice with the indoor golf balls provided for you. If there is a lesson scheduled at the designated time that will have priority. Lessons will be posted and updated on the door daily. If you would like to book a lesson please email Todd Ekstrand at tekstrand@foxmeadowcc.com with the pertinent information. The schedule and available times will be posted for your viewing 3 weeks out. Score Posting Update: Northern Ohio Golf Association is excited to announce a new score posting season. The active score posting season will now start March 15, 2018 and extend through November 30, 2018. As a reminder, you are posting scores yearly if playing at a 12-month facility. Many members travel south for the winter and may not realize this. Course Update: We would like to address the whispers about course conditions and if the course is playable when the snow melts. I know last year at the end of the month we had an Indian summer which generated a lot of play. If we receive an extended period of time where the temperatures allow for snow thaw, water drainage, and playable conditions, an email blast will certainly go out from the club notifying our membership and the opportunity to come out and play. Who doesn t like to get a few rounds of golf in, especially when it s February. Junior Golf Update: Two weeks ago Brad and I were able to attend a PGA Junior League seminar and the importance of Junior Golf to its membership. In 2017 we were able to establish our first ever team and create some buzz for our Junior Golf Programs. One interesting fact from 2017 is that 80% of all kids who signed up for the PGA Junior League registered as a beginner or recreational golfer, demonstrating the developmental nature of the program. We are excited to say that this is a great driving force to our current members or a non-member family or friend looking to join the largest growing youth sport in America. Registration for our team begins February 1 st, 2018 and opened to the public. To register please go to: https://www.pgajrleague.com/ (copy and paste into search browser). There are many new items this year which include: home & away jerseys with pick your own number, boys & girl sizing, online PGA Junior League Store, and a drawstring bag to hold everything in. Todd Ekstrand, PGA 3 February 2018

Membership of Fox Meadow: During the month of February, we will be continuing our efforts on getting all of our equipment repaired and ready for the 2018 season. Tony has been doing a great job in keeping a steady pace, with all of our Greens mowers ready to roll out of the door, and tee mowers not too far behind. Next items on the docket will be our fairway units, followed by rough and trim mowers, and last but not least our utility carts. As mentioned in prior Newsletters, the repair process includes: washing/scrubbing, servicing/replacing wear items, grinding, painting, and finally putting back together. On the indoor project side, Scott has built two new shelving units as well as a hose rack. One shelving unit is for ease of getting to our backpack blowers from the main storage area, the other shelving unit is in Tony s shop and set up for Pam to have a clean, organized area for her planting supplies/materials. The hose rack, also in main storage, will provide quick and easy access to our 1 hoses that are used for hand-watering. Lastly, we will be constructing a new chemical storage area inside of our main storage area. While most of our chemicals are stored in the pump house, the new area will allow us to more efficiently load the sprayer at the shop, which is ideal for us because of the shop s central location to the golf course. On the golf course, we have cut down a few trees on the left of #6 and will continue cutting down and trimming trees around the entire golf course as time progresses. Other tasks that we have planned for February, aside from those mentioned, include: Painting tee markers Painting #6/#12 divot boxes Scrubbing trash cans Washing par 3 divot boxes Making stakes (for traffic control) Ordering fresh golf course accessories The early forecast for February looks to be quite cold and a decent threat of snow. We re hopeful to be able to get outside and tackle some of that tree work mentioned, while balancing the needed work inside. Have a great February and Stay Warm! Kind Regards, Jeremy P. Slota 4 February 2018

Membership News Happy February Fox Meadow Members! Well, I haven't a clue where January went! It looks like 2018 is already starting to fly by, and before we know it, it will be summer again and we will be back out on the golf course, pool and, my personal favorite, the patio! If all goes as planned, I will be leaving for maternity leave the last week of February, beginning February 26th and will return the second week in April, around April 10th.
