*** Showcase 2017 Information *** Dear Parents: Celebrating 26 years!!! It is that time of year again! The most exciting time of the year for a Hip Hop Kid Showcase time! Your children will soon begin on working tirelessly for their big performance debut for The Big Show on June 11 th. They are so excited and anxiously awaiting their time to shine! The showcase date is Sunday, June 11 th, 2017 at the Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts. Showtime is 3pm (doors open for seating at 2:15). Please take the time to thoroughly read all the information below so you and your child will be well prepared for the big showcase day! Please keep this information in a safe place so you can refer back to it, as needed, for information regarding the showcase. Parents please remember that the kids count on each other, every class is a team, and the success of their very special presentation depends on each others participation. STUDENT SHOWCASE PARTICIPATION FORM: Attached to this memo please find a student showcase participation form. You must fill out this form and sign the release of liability in order for your child to participate in the showcase. You must send in this form to our corporate office no later than Monday, May 1 st, 2017. Please print your information. Include all of the information requested. No child will be allowed to participate in the showcase without this form completed & turned in. If you have more than one child participating please send in a copy of this form for each child. MANDATORY STUDENT REHEARSAL TIME FOR ALL PERFORMERS: 9:00am Parents should drop off children for dress rehearsal at 9:00am at PPTOPA, and then return at 2:15pm for seating. The only parents that will be allowed to stay will be our designated parent chaperone/volunteers. In addition to each of our class instructors, the parent chaperone/volunteers will remain with the students throughout the rehearsal and the show. Their duties will be to assist your child to the restrooms, answer questions, and be available for anything else your child may need throughout the day. Please do not be late for student drop off time. There is a local mall as well as many shops & restaurants in the immediate/nearby area for parents who prefer to stay in the vicinity of the theatre until showtime! **All performers MUST arrive dressed, make-up & hair finished, with his/her disposable bag lunch and NO OTHER personal items at all! SHOWCASE OUTFIT: (Please note this section only pertains to HHK 1 & 2 & HHK Teenz classes. If you are in a Performance Troupe, Production Co.,CAST, UCC or Mini/Dade Crew class you already have your performing outfit for the Showcase.) We have created a unique Showcase Outfit this year. Each class will have their own unique Showcase Outfit color scheme created just for them this year. All outfits must be ordered online at our website. Look for the Showcase 2017 link on our main home page under Registration/Payments link at www.hiphopkidz.net or www.hipkopkidz.co. The outfit cost for each student is $115 and the deadline to order outfits is Friday, March 31 st, 2017. Please note that we need all this time to order and create each outfit, we want to have the outfits available for you to take home as soon as possible. Please do not hesitate to place your showcase outfit order! Also make sure you completely fill out the outfit order form, including sizing and class location information. You will also be able to view an online demo of the outfit and colors selected for your child s class. ORDERING INFORMATION Please place your order as soon as possible. The deadline for anyone to order a showcase outfit is Friday, March 31 st, 2017! The cost of each outfit is $115.00. The form needs to be completely filled out for your order to be processed. Or go directly to https://hiphopkidz.co/showcase/ ***PLEASE*** When filling out your child s information online, please make sure you choose the CORRECT location where your child takes class and the CORRECT days/times. Each class has unique colors and accessories to their outfit, if you select the wrong class day/time/location, your child s order will be placed for the wrong outfit. MAKE UP: Due to the extreme intensity of the stage lights it is necessary to apply make-up to all performers. We suggest you use a foundation, a powder to prevent shine, a dark earth tone blush, eye shadow, mascara, and a dark lipstick. (Girls, no glitter). Absolutely NO temporary tattoos! Male students only need foundation, blush, and powder. (Every performer, boy or girl, must wear make-up under stage lighting. Even Usher, Justin Timberlake, & Pit Bull must wear make-up on stage BOYS!) LUNCH PLAN: Please provide your child with a bag lunch. Your child must have his/her bag lunch with him/her when they arrive at 9am. This should consist of a sandwich (not messy please), small snack, and disposable water/gatorade bottle (plastic with a top). Also please include several napkins in your child s lunch. YOUR CHILD WILL NOT BE PERMITTED into the auditorium with a fast food type of lunch (ie. McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.). You will not be able to drop off your child and return with their lunch/food later. Your child MUST have his/her lunch with them when they arrive at 9am. Please print your child s first and last name on their bag lunch & water/gatorade bottle clearly so it does not get confused or lost among other similar lunches/bottles. DO NOT send a washable/reusable sports bottle or lunch box from home. Your child will have plenty of time to eat his/her lunch between the dress rehearsal and showtime. The venue normally does not allow any food or drinks in the building however, we have obtained special accommodations for our show. Please follow the rules! Absolutely NO CANDY, MESSY/CRUMMY (ie. Chips, cookies, oversized subs), or GUM at all! Please feed your child breakfast before they arrive as they will not be permitted to eat their lunch until a specific time! STUDENT SEATING: Unique to our showcase, ALL Hip Hop Kidz performers will be seated before the show by class in the theater and will be able to watch the rehearsal. When you arrive for rehearsal, please walk you child to the main lobby entrance. All parents will be required to sign their child in. We will be receiving all students at this entrance only. Parent volunteers and instructors will greet your child and direct them to their class. Please note you will not be able to see your performer through out the day or before the show. DURING THE SHOW: Your child will have parent chaperone/volunteers, as well as his/her class instructor, to take care of him/her during the show. The will located in a special waiting are back stage. They will be escorted to and from the stage for rehearsal and show performance, and escorted to and from restrooms as needed. At no time are parents invited to the performer s area to visit with the children/teen performers. This disrupts an otherwise smooth running show, and we ask that you please refrain from visiting your child before or during the showcase. 3
AFTER SHOW PARENT PICK-UP: All of the students deserve our applause and praise. At the conclusion of the show, all of the performers will be escorted to the stage for an entire group finale performance and recognition. At the conclusion of this, parents may pick-up their children from the stage. No student will be released to any parent until the entire show is completed! Our Showcase has been organized to be entertaining, while at the same time keeping the length of our performance time to a minimum. Congratulate your own Hip Hop Kid in our Showcase Program! Fan Club Page Our very special Fan Club Page is where any parents, siblings, aunts or uncles, grandparents, neighbors, or friends can send a personalized message to your child. This special message will be printed in the program for all to see. You may also choose to recognize a group of friends or good luck to a specific class or to thank that special instructor for a fun year. Fan Club messages will be 10-12 words (not including child s name) and are $10.00 each. The deadline to order a Fan Club message is Monday, May 1 st, 2017. UNIQUE TO OUR SHOWCASE: A beautiful idea blooms to celebrate your child s performance! We will be offering again this year custom arranged flower bouquets available for you to present to your child for a fabulous performance, or to give to the special instructor who helped to put the hip into your child s hop. The bouquets will include an assortment of fresh flowers ranging from daisies to roses.
