CLUB NEWS We re still unsure what Auto Zone is planning regarding the spring fling car shows, but we ll update you whenever additional information becomes available. Meanwhile, the car show and cruising season is finally here, and is moving forward despite some iffy weather during March, April and May. MCCC sponsored shows have already set on the 2013 calendar. They are as follows: June 22 nd, All American Show Memphis International Raceway August 24 th, Faith Baptist Classic Car & Bike Show Faith Baptist Church September 28 th, Bartlett Festival Freeman Park (tentative) October 19 th, Fall Festival Car & Bike Show - Tennessee Baptist Children s Home We reached a consensus as to which charitable organizations to support during the January meeting. Following our successful efforts of 2012, we will continue to support the Baptist Children s Home, and The Shriners Burn Transportation Fund. We will need your involvement at club shows and activities throughout 2013 to make this show season a worthy successor to last year s efforts. Please consider attending our activities and advocating for the cause. SHOW SEASON IS IN FULL SWING! MCCC member, Nelson Baker shows his super slick Chevelle during the Thursday night Bartlett cruise-in (May 16th) despite the almost constant threat of rain that has plagued virtually every event this spring. So, keep your ride road worthy and show ready, as the weather is bound to become cooperative as summer gets near. The must-do events are already beginning to pile up on the calendar. So many in fact, that it s hard to choose what to do. The last thirty days alone have found area enthusiasts at the Blue Suede Cruise in Tupelo MS, the Delta Cruisers Car Show & Swap Meet in Marion AR, the Buford Pusser Car Show in Adamsville TN, The Goodguys Nashville Nationals, and the Memphis Fuel & Gas Nostalgia Drag Races and Car Show. What did you do this month? So you say you don t remember what you did? Well just start over in June! Coming up real soon on your gearhead calendar are The Hot Rod Magazine 2013 Power Tour, Memphis stop is June 4th. Then stretch your legs and take in the NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green KY June 13th 15th. There will lots of vintage drag racing and a huge car show at the NHRA reunion bash. For something completely different, don t forget about the Great Race on June 26th in Germantown TN. Most importantly, don t miss the All American Show being held at Memphis International Raceway on June 22nd. This was a lot of fun last year, so we re glad to see it return again this fall. Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week will return to Memphis International Raceway on Thursday, September 12 th, with the 2013 edition of Drag Week. It s a true hoot to watch the most hard-core street cars in the country duke it out at five different race tracks in five days.
