IMPORTANT EVENT DAY INFORMATION All event activities will be held in the Alex and Ani City Center, Exchange Terrace. The walk will begin at 9:00 A.M. on Exchange Terrace. SPECIAL EVENT UPDATES Located in the Alex and Ani City Center are the following: Registration, Survivor Area, Merchandise, ACSCAN, Health and Wellness Area and AVON. Located on Exchange Terrace: Start & Finish Line, Tent Sponsors, DJ and Stage. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. in the Alex and Ani City Center and will remain open until 11:30 a.m. We encourage team leaders to plan a time to meet and begin walking together. Entertainment and important information will continue throughout the day until 12:00 p.m. Registration instructions for 'online participants': You are considered an 'online participant' if you registered at www.makingstrideswalk.org/providenceri for the Providence event. If you have additional donations or matching gifts to turn in on the day of the walk, please visit the Online Registration Area (located in the Providence Rink). Don t fill out a registration form or hand in anything other than donations and matching gift forms. Be prepared to tell the registration volunteer how much money you are turning in that morning. If you don t have donations to turn in, you may skip the registration tent and check yourself in online using our ACS Fundraising App. Sign in with your information and check-in! Registration instructions for 'offline participants': All walkers who did not register online -- even if you did not raise any money -- must fill out a registration form completely, noting your team name, if applicable, so that your team gets the proper credit. You may turn fill out this form at the Registration Area (located in the Providence Rink). Volunteers will only accept registration forms, donations, and matching gift forms at this time. Be prepared to tell the registration volunteer how much money you are turning in that morning. The registration form cannot be copied and must be filled out in blue or black ink. Attention breast cancer survivors! Please visit our Survivorship Area, (located in the Alex and Ani City Center), where you will have the opportunity to receive special recognition, interact with other survivors, participate in our Wall of Hope, take event pictures at our step-and-repeat, and come interact with our Survivor tent Sponsor Lifespan! Parking: Will be available at the RI Convention Center and at the Providence Place Mall. Additional parking options can be found at www.makingstrideswalk.org/providenceri and in this packet. Carpooling and Shuttles: With the expectation of very large crowds, please help to ensure a more enjoyable time for all participants by carpooling to the event. Space is limited at each location. Shuttle buses will also be available from the following locations: Lifespan Coro Building Garage (corner of Point St. and Hoppin St., Providence) The American Cancer Society s Warwick RI Office (931 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick RI)

*Shuttles will run directly to and from the provided pick up locations and will drop participants off on Dorrance St. Drop off will be directly across the street of the Providence Rink. Shuttles will run from 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14. The last shuttle bus will leave the drop off location at 11:45 a.m. Please check www.makingstrideswalk.org/providenceri for more updated information on shuttles. *Pick up will be at the same location as drop off.* GENERAL EVENT INFORMATION Event staff are in black, long sleeve shirts with Staff written on the back. Strides merchandise will be offered at the Strides Store. Quantities and sizes of all items are limited. New 2018 items are available! Cash, checks and credit cards are acceptable. The walk route is a 3 mile walk through downtown Providence. Signage and route monitors will be placed along the route to guide you. However, route maps are available at each tent and online at www.makingstrideswalk.org/providenceri. Portable Restrooms will be available at the event site at the Alex and Ani City Center and along the walk route on South Water Street. The 3 mile route is stroller and wheelchair friendly; however we do not allow roller blades, bikes or skateboards on the walk route. Smoking and alcohol are also prohibited. Pets are not allowed. We prohibit any pets for the safety of our walkers, staff, volunteers, and others involved with the event. Hand-held signs only! Also, no one will be allowed to distribute or display promotional materials of any kind at the event without permission. Tents or tables cannot be set up by any team, other than our tent sponsors along the walk route. Attendees are prohibited to sell merchandise at the event; those found doing so will be removed by Police. Suggestions for things to bring with you: A water bottle, coffee, sunscreen, a hat, and appropriate clothing for the weather. Water will be available at our water stop along the route, along with limited snacks at the finish line. ADDITIONAL REMINDERS Mailing Donations: We welcome participants to mail donations to Making Strides, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886. Please include a note stating the team name and participant name for whom these donations are being made. Donations mailed in and made online will be accepted until December 21, 2018 for the 2018 event. Matching Gifts: Don't forget to ask your human resources or personnel department if your company has a matching funds program. If so, simply get a form, fill it out, and pass it in at registration. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND THEIR ANSWERS Here are some of our most frequently asked questions during walk day! Q: WHAT IS A PACESETTER? A Pacesetter is an individual who raised $2,500 or more. A new group of Pacesetters will be determined after money is received at this walk for the 2017 year. Pacesetter Teams: $25,000 is achieved as a team. Pacesetters have a special registration area on walk day, and receive numerous thanks and mentions. Q: HOW MANY PEOPLE WALKED IN MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER LAST YEAR? A: 15,000 Q: HOW MUCH DID MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER RAISE LAST YEAR A: $500,000 Q: WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THAT MONEY? A: The American Cancer Society is committed to making the greatest possible impact against breast cancer. Dollars raised through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer enable the Society to fund groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat, and cure breast cancer; ensure access to mammograms for women who need them; and provide free resources and support to the one in two newly diagnosed women who turn to the Society for help and support each year, including transportation and lodging. Q: HOW IS BREAST CANCER RESEARCH SUPPORTED? A: Nationwide, we currently have more than $83 million invested in 198 active research grants that are specific to breast cancer Q: HOW LONG IS THE ROUTE? A: 3 miles Q: I REGISTERED MY TEAM ON-LINE. DO I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE REGISTRATION TENT? A: You only need to go to the registration tent if you have additional money to hand in. Q: MAY I STILL REGISTER? A: Before 7:30 am: We will be registering walkers beginning at 7:30 a.m. After 10:00 a.m.: Of course. You will be taken care of at the Registration Tent. Q: WHAT IF I DON T HAVE ALL THE MONEY WITH ME TODAY? A: When you register, ask for an envelope with the mailing address preprinted on it. Please include your name and team name with the donation in order to receive credit. Q: CAN I WALK IF I DIDN T TURN IN MY WALK PAPERS? A: Absolutely! However, we do encourage everyone to turn in a walk paper, even if they did not raise money. Next year we hope you ll collect pledges and help the cause. Q: HOW CAN I FIND MY TEAM? A: Set up a meeting location prior to the event. There will be 15,000 walkers and it will be tough to find your

group if you don t have a predetermined plan. Q: HOW MANY WATER STOPS ARE THERE? A: There is 1 water stop along the route (South Water St.) and refreshments will be available at the finish line. Q: I REGISTERED MY TEAM ON-LINE. DO I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE REGISTRATION TENT? A: You only need to go to the registration tent if you have additional money to hand in. Q: WHERE ARE THE REST ROOMS? A: There are portable restrooms located in the Providence Rink, some near the Start & Finish Line and at our water stop located on South Water Street. Q: HOW LONG WILL THE ENTERTAINMENT BE GOING ON? A: There will be a variety of entertainment on the stage until 12:00 p.m. Q: WHERE CAN I GET A T-SHIRT? A HAT? A: T-shirts are available for $15 at the Strides Store located in Providence Rink.
